  1. It was a lot of fun and I look forward to round 2 for sure! I learned a lot watching Grampy play chess with that buck from the ground. It was as exciting as a hunt can be. He was more than content with the experience even though he never released an arrow. Something we could all learn from - its the experience that matters, not the result. And you won't find a man more gracious than Grampy. He is already part of the family! The wings with the rest of the guys was icing on the cake.
  2. The NY grand slam with a recurve would be a great accomplishment (and to top it off your first year hunting trad). Good luck my friend. Pulling for you.
  3. Find a spot that is protected from the wind. I bet you see deer.
  4. I understood IBO speeds to be based on very specific parameters including 350g arrow and 28" DL. Once you start adding weight to the string, peep and silencers, most don't hit the number as manufacturers do these tests with nothing on the string.
  5. And what if someone is killed by hitting the mature buck I would have killed had I passed on the first spike? See how circular this logic is wolc?
  6. Called it a day. Not getting any lighter. Weds starts the hard push!
  7. And just had a nice racked buck catch me moving before I saw him. Good hunter here. Lol
  8. "I don't think the heavy stuff is gonna come down for quite a while." little wet out here but did have a buck chasing a doe about an hour ago
  9. Great way to finish. TF, Nomad, Culver. Grampy, WNY, Phade, david and yours truly.
  10. Grampy was sitting over an area we call the bowl. Sitting on the ridge but not really hunting the bowl area or so we thought. He was on the ground below a stand we use. As i was picking him from his stand for breakfast, he looks at me and quietly whispers buck down in the bowl. I got down on the ground and he carefully eased up and creeped over the rigid towards the bowl. Never detected by the buck, I watched a 10 min battle with the buck moving closer to Grampy and Grampy finding a position to shoot him. Buck closed from 75ish to 40ish. Moved away and came back but never offered Grampy the shot he wanted. It was very cool watching the whole thing unfold lying on the ground 10yds behind him. Grampy was cool as a cucumber. Almost got him.
  11. Downpours rest of today and tomorrow putting a damper on further hunting this weekend.
  12. Great job. Looks like you have the stick and string down!
  13. Grampy never released an arrow but it was a really exciting hunt and I had a front row seat. It was very cool. See you tonight.
  14. Well buck never presented a shot but the story is not over.
  15. Buck ain't moving and neither is grampy
  16. Unbelievable morning. More details to follow. Lying on ground as a type with Grampy 15yds in front of me trying to kill a buck from ground. Won't give him a shot but man it's exciting watching as I lie prone. Lol
  17. Yep. Young Grampy for sure!
  18. What a gentlemen Grampy is. A pleasure to hang with. And I might have just learned enough to hook a few bass!
  19. Grampy is giving my son a bass tutorial lure by lure.
  20. Uhmmm, don't cut that one. That's a big deer rubbing that tree.
