You make it seem easy! Nice Buck!

I live in Webster, but we hunt properties mostly south and west of Rochester. I know that there are monsters in Webster every year. Access can be tough. Sounds like you have a great spot.
-
Is that the revolution form Jason or a different one? Looks good. I have one that is similar and it was a revolution.

Sorry if that was misunderstood, you do still need to hang the deer. Cheap self locking pulley gambrel set up will work. You can chain the top pulley to a truss.
-
Good point. I use some heavy duty loppers to cut the leg bone below the hind quarters - last thing hanging by then

Might take a bit longer at the start, but really is pretty quick. I take extra time if caping for a mount. Only suggesting because once you get it down, its easy and mess free. Pick up some 5x7' plastic tarps from harbor freight. A few large plastic bowls to put the quarters, straps and loins makes it easy to put on table and finish butchering. My wife was opposed at first too, but now helps me clean and vacuum seal after I get it to the table.

Sorry, I don't buy it tacks. I know all of the ladies flock to you!

No taxi, just butcher? Then shoot the doe and let the buck grow for next year.
-
Yep, prefer the full length over-spinned arrows with extra head weight.

I do have an 82lb compound. I use 125g rage hypos with 300 axis FMJs cut to 28.5" for that bow. These are for my recurve. Axis 260g full length arrows with 250g heads (although testing them last night I might drop to 200g) as they showed a bit weak. My recurve is fast for 48lbs so it likes stiffer spine and I leave the arrows full length (34") which dramatically impacts dynamic spine (if cut, 340s or 300s would work depending on point weight or even 400s if I dropped to 150g heads, but I like heavy with the recurve).

Not trying to convince you (maybe I am a bit), but I typically butcher same day and the time from hanging the deer until the garage is cleaned up is an hour at most. Skin, quarter and remove straps and tenderloins. Leave a plastic tarp underneath and wrap it up to dispose of leftover parts in garbage bin. Easy and quick. No deer left hanging for extended periods. Plus, not concern of those really frigid days, snow or rain. I do the final clean and cutting of the meat at the table. That said, I am sure the portable hoist will work.

So you have maple pine trees - pretty unique looking I bet

Just throwing it out there, but if there any other members close by that want to grab a later dinner after Saturdays hunt to meet Grampy, PM me.
-
Never been there but I know there is one in Rush.

You are welcome Biz!

You can't find a small area in the garage, even if you leave a car outside? That is where I do mine. Door closed so as not to offend neighbors.
-
Looking forward to it buddy! And we are all pulling for you to take home a WNY buck! If all else fails, there is a deer farm close by. lol

I think its a main frame 8 with crab claws but I could be wrong in my characterization. Not sure how it is officially measured. Maybe a 10.

Don't beat yourself up Larry. She is beautiful and even with a little character scar, she remains that way. What a great testament to your parenting that she doesn't freak out about a little thing like this and that she tries to put your mind at ease about the accident. Once that heals all the way, a little make-up and no one will notice it. Plus, if anyone asks, you know the guys will walk the line with her when they find out she shoots rifles. I have a matching scar and my wife says it just makes me even more handsome.

Same one I use. Definitely called in my buck 2 seasons ago with it and likely called in last years buck (blind grunt but came in shortly after).
-
I would have guessed 160 but that is a huge main frame 8 with some long tines and cool stickers.
-
I agree, but my birth certificate isn't cooperating.

They are close to real size depending on the size of your monitor
