  1. I got hit one time, but my scope has some rubber on the end of it so it didnt hurt all that bad at all
  2. I always remove any pinbones right as I fillet the fish. Its really easy to cut on either side of the pin bones and peel them away. This way you dont get any pin bones in your meat.
  3. The fish I kept were from the willowemoc, by the covered bridge. The bigger fish I saw were on the beaverkill though
  4. Went out on Thursday to the willowemoc and a the beaverkill. I tried wets and nymphs, but I couldn’t manage anything so I switched between different drys. I finally found the right dry and caught about 8 or 9 Browns. First time dry fly fishing so it was pretty cool to catch them on top. I learned a lot that day. All the fish were around 12” but I did see some 18”+ fish on the beaverkill. I only casted to one of them before I had to leave and couldn’t get it to take. I did get one big hit on the soft hackles, but dries were the key. I’ll need to drop some cash on some more dries. I’ll take any suggestions on what I should get. I’m thinking some BWO, adams in different sizes and some more sulphurs. All but 2 were released. All are different fish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I actually had an almost completely white doe come with in 20 yards of me 2 years ago last day of the season. I had to resist taking her becuase the landowner really liked watching her and so did all the neighbors. Really sucks too becuase it was killed by a car later in the winter
  6. NFA-ADk and my self asked a DEC officer a similar question last year. He basically said that if they catch you in the field with it quarterd, theyll either ask to see the sex organ or ask to see the kill site/ gut site. If you are already in the car and a distance away from the kill site, he would just let you go if the tag is properly filled out.
  7. In a heart beat! Id tan the skin if it was a doe, and if the buck is big enouh id save up for a full mount.
  8. I have a question for you guys. I have the choice of going fishing Wednesday or Thursday (maybe both), but Wednesday it’s predicted to rain and Thursday it’s going to be good weather. What day would you suggest to be out? I would think Wednesday, but fly fishing for trout is new to me so I figured I’d ask the more experienced people. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Unfortuntely I believe you are right. I don't think there is much educating that can be done when someone has those thoughts
  10. What a shame. I thought it was a hoax at first. He was always an odd character so hearing he had depression doesnt surprise me at all. Its hard to fathom doing such a thing, but when your at your lowest I guess anything is possible. Hopefully such tragerdies will help educate people against doing such things.
  11. Got out today on the willowemoc and ended up with 2 11” Brookies. First time I’ve ever gotten a brook trout, first time I caught a fish on a fly and first time I caught a trout on a fly I made. First one hit a red and partridge and the second hit a black spider. I tied both and even shit the bird that I got the feathers for the black spider. I lost one big one and had a few more hits that I missed. All in all t was a good day on the river. I want to go tomorrow, but I doubt I will. I’m thinking I’ll go up again next week after Tuesday. 12. Got out today at a pier on the south shore. Caught a bunch of big sea robins, but I wasn’t hungry enough to keep them. I did catch one 17” fluke. I don’t normally get to catch fluke so this was a nice treat. I’m hoping to get one keeper this year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Looks great! I hope you get one with your daughter in there
  15. Well im obviously done for the season. I was hoping that I was going to go out today, but I thought i was supposed to take a make up organic chemistry exam (professor cancelled at 9am this morning). I did head on last saturday to look for the bird one last time and maybe get on another one. I did set up about 60 yards from another tom and some hens that flew down. He was very big, but was not interested in my calling at all. Heard 3 seperate gobblers with in 200 yards, so Its looking good for next year at least. I did see some very interesting things, one of which was a huge snapping turtle in the middle of the woods and a salamander (or newt) on a trail as well. Not my best season, but I do have to count this season as a success, becuase I did shoot one and only lost it because I wasnt paying attention to it. I also learned more this season than any other season prior. Next year Ill be going all out to tag out with my new knowledge. Thanks for all the support guys!
  16. Happy Birthday! I hope you have a great day surrounded by friends and family. Enjoy it!
  17. Or they can do the knitting party idea and knit his wife a nice purse where she can keep his balls
  18. There are a lot of public land opportunities, but they can be very tough hunting because of all the swamps. There used to be a member named deer passion that was from Florida. Hunting is way better up here from what I remember him saying.
  19. Ill probably never move, but If I did it would be to either Montana or Iowa. Whitetail hunting is my favorite, but ive also been in love with Montana since I was a kid. The hunting they have out there is just amazing.
  20. Working at a lab where we looked at the effects of obesity in the brain for adolescence. It was interesting work, but my boss had it out for me from day one. She actually was mad when she found out I would be working there and made my time there hell when she was there. It got a little boring looking at books of data and running the stats on it, but obtaining the data was always fun.
