    Obviously all of us here would have been thrilled to find the buck and give it back. The guy is obviously a POC. What was his reason for keeping it?

    By my house i got about 12" in most spots and some drifts are around 15"+.

    Ive always butchered on my own, but the deer processors around the areas I hunt charge about 80 bucks or 85 bucks.

    Appreciate the break down. Recipes that don't call for curing salts are far and few between right now.

    That's what im reading as well, but a few people have mentioned that they were taught to do it with out and never will put any cures other than regular non iodized NaCl (salt). The reason I don't want to add nitrites in the meat is because its reaction in the body. It is a known carcinogen, but the main reason I don't want it is because it effects the hemoglobin in the blood that transports oxygen to the muscles.

    Keeping kids with out phones is detrimental to them now a days. As bad as it sounds, you cant stop them from having them as they will not only be made fun of in school, but possibly fall behind their peers and that's not good in how competitive it is for everything no a days. My 4 and 5 year old cousins know how to work an Ipad better than my own parents know how to. Now im not saying you don't take it away from them if you punish them. World is changing, so why shouldn't the youth keep up with it?

    All cuny colleges (and most others in the city) got off today. Couldn't be happier as I get out at 10 on Thursdays due to my Physics 2 class.

    Did you use Nitrates and nitrites(curing salts) in your soppresatta? I'm planing on doing this next year and im not a fan of putting them in the meat. I hear some people don't do it at all. I smoked the last deer I shot this year and it turned out great. I believe the name for what I did is Capicola.

    Ive never gotten the flu shot, but I hear crap about it all the time from my parents. Not a fan of needles so I tend to avoid it.

    Glad your alright though! Sucks that it happened, but better at the end of the season than the beginning.

    Worked for the first time for me this year. The buck was 70 yards away and was going into brush. I rattled and he disappeared only to re appear 50 yards from me, headed in my direction. It was a real rush for me.

    I figured he was going to kill him for a while when he admitted to not being sad they're mom died.

    If you can, id plant some fruit trees, grapes, berries and some vegetables. I don't like to have too much land in grass as I find it to be a waste when I could be utilizing it for food. Tree's and grape vines would be the easiest as you only have to prune once a year and then do nothing after that.

    I dont see this being good for deer, but for small game like rabbits and possibly turkey it will probably be alright.

    Where the states then say they cant afford to keep the lands and they sell them.

    Shimano Sahara gets the vote for the steelhead rod. I've used that reel for salmon and keep one down in my condo in Fl for trout and reds.
