  1. The fawn i got in 3J on Saturday had some dark and smelly tarsals. Almost made me sad to take her.
  2. That guy definitely gets some respect! Some times you gotta do what you gotta do.
  3. It was this weekend 110 yards on a doe fawn. Off hand shot too which makes it even better. In the top 3 shots with a rifle.
  4. Funny as hell but not a smart move. The kick along with its toe nail can kill a man with out issue.
  5. This is basically how I do it. I make a couple different cuts, but other then that it's the same. Really brought down my butchering time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Got to my spot at 6:40 and found 2 doe and 2 fawn in front of the land owners house and then the waiting game to 7:06 started. At 7 I moved behind the landowners house to intercept where they like to move after eating on his lawn. One actually ended up busting me when I was checking the time and caused the deer to run into the the next guys lawn and started making there way to the woods. Right at the edge of the woods, they stoped and turned back. I went down on one knee and took the shot. About 5 min after I shot, a guy drove up accusing me of illegally hunting deer and called the state troopers on me. I spoke to the guy and told him he didn't have to go that far but since they were on they're way thank you for wasting my time. He was a nice guy that new zero about hunting laws and lived half a mile away from the property. State trooper came and told me I was free to go hunting after he took my info down and told the guy that I had every right to do what I did. His main complaint was the rifle was loud...how loud could it be from half a mile away when the people inside of the house i shot next to couldn't hear it. He then went on to accuse the land owner of illegally deer hunting and shooting all the time (the guy hasn't touched off a shot in 2 years). Either way it was a good day for me. Excuse the bad hair, it was early and I didn't feel like fixing it just to hunt. 110 yard shot off hand. Probably among the best shots I've ever taken. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Well just being in the woods is worth it to me, but bringing home 60 or so pounds of meat is pretty good too. You can't find organic meat like that in the super market. Either way its a great thing to pass down to your son.
  8. Great story...thanks for sharing! I want to hunt where you are hunting haha. Sounds like a wonderful start to a great hunting career. Also respect for getting into hunting just because your son was showing interest in it. He'll have a great mentor when he gets into it.
  9. Dicks usually has stands over 50 percent off come January. That's what Im waiting for.
  10. I think a lot more goes into the taste of the venison than just where it was shot. Age, how you take care of it in the field, how you butcher it, using the right cuts of meat and cooking it right. I'm sure what it eats has a decent effect on it, but not nearly as much as what I listed.
  11. Ill be going through my gear to make sure its alright as well as adding a couple ladder stands to the arsenal if I can. And maybe if im lucky Ill be hunting on my own property next year.
  12. That's awesome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Not a perfect sh ot, but I leveled her. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Well I have a doe down. Shot it at 7:08 just to make sure it was legal light. A local then drive over and called the cops because he thought I was illegally hunting. State trooper came and walked with me to the deer and told the guy I did no wrong. He offered to help drag but I didn't want to get him all bloody. Will post pics in a few. Not a deer I would take for my self, but the land owners wife wanted it so she was going to get it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I've got 4 deer here in front of the land owners house. Don't want to shoot that directions so I'm waiting for legal light and for them to get in a better position Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Ya that smell is what lets me know deer season is close. I grow grapes down here in the city and once they start ripening I can smell them from 40 or 50 yards away.
  17. I know deer like vineyards, but im not sure if they like to eat the grapes. It wouldn't surprise me if they do. Ive seen fox stop and munch on concord grapes before. Concords are what i grow and seems like birds and raccoons love them.
  18. I never had the balls to eat wild grapes, but they're all over one of the properties I hunt.
  19. Dont forget to plant grapes. Not much of a pull for deer, but the turkeys love it and more importantly you'll love them. Grapes are probably the easiest thing to grow in the world. Only downside is you'll have to really protect them from the coons.
  20. Try calling. Maybe a couple grunts and a doe bleat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. With a rifle or bow? That's awesome though. Congrats on the doe.
  22. Thats perfect expansion! Id love to find one, one day.
