  1. Out there, biggest thunderstorm I believe I've ever seen in February. It has Angel hiding in the bath tub shaking like a leaf. Well with little snow this winter...It's a good thing...though messing up the one free day I had for great warm weather work......can't really complain. 72 today whew hoo!
  2. I have mowed it with our small jd riding lawn mower ..without a problem.
  3. Salmon with a seseme, garlic glaze. Potato, peas, hot rolls and southern coleslaw.
  4. Nice...sad about the taxidermist.
  5. Glad your OK...buck all have lost their racks here.
  6. Good deal ..I've used both max attract and Lab/lab plus, good results but hit extremely hard in area I planted.
  7. They came through several times together day and night and alone...wouldn't guess where would ya...he was down there with the tractor cutting today......lol
  8. I need to add this...the buck above, I'd never seen...The neighbor on my high side had him on cams all summer long...once season started and he went in daily bow hunting him that buck moved to me and yes..bedded right under my stand. when I sent a text I'd gotten a bow buck...he sent me a picture of him hanging at the bottom of their East facing slope. A place that the buck hang out in the summer, not a gully but a bottom between two slopes..pasture on the west and "English woods" on the east.
  9. Shooting instinctive? Good for you!...Ya that's expensive...but fun for the ego once in a while.
  10. I did mine the other day as well...what a wet mess they were...pried the doors open to dry out...Angel had fun chasing the mice that flung themselves out the door.
  11. I see the shed ..but the critter looks like my rabbit cam pics...
  12. Thanks everyone it is much appreciated and needed...They worked on him all night and can't get the BP out of the danger zone,he's in real trouble. So all the well wishes and prayers he can get can't hurt...Rivers Mom was in a car accident on the way back from hospital...her girlfriends car and she was a passenger...3 cars involved, the guy that hit the car that hit them fled...leaving them all to deal with 5 patrol cars and an ambulance...Thank God the Girls weren't hurt..but shook up.
  13. A sanctuary is where a DEER considers to be safe...No matter what we maybe thinking have areas one doesn't frequent often is important..though as I said you have to know your herds...I would never get away with what I do here at camp..and lets face it...it's why the guys don't shoot as many buck....I want those deer here to know I can walk past them and nothing will happen. I want them to know my scent and yes sorry they do remember. I want them to see my movements as non threatening...Because that will move them off others towards me...I really like the guys that treat their places as the holy ground . Won't go near it until season...because in hill country there rarely is a "good" wind...it swirls nearly always unless there is near no wind...my scent is part of their environment..I'm just another animal they live with. I learned this many years ago when I had a 12 pt step out in front of me while I was DRing a trail. He causally walk the trail in front of me and I continued on my way. When I had a huge 8pt leave a doe he was trailing to circle around me and come to within 3yards bob his head, paw the ground curl his lip, sniff me ,sweaty as all get out from working, then turn around and walk back to the doe that had bedded down wind of me. When I can stand out at the road and talk to the huge 6pt last year while he stood 30 ft away in my driveway. I don't feed them other than plots...but I do know how to read body language and in the woods, how to walk past a bedded deer without spooking it. I have had deer come up to me as I squatted in the dark ,trying not to get caught going to stand, to have a tine slide past my eye and him literally snort in my ear. I have been stomped at in the dark and knew what to do so he'd come back to me and not run for the hills..I called the buck in the picture back to me twice as I walked to the ladder and climbed the ladder after spooking him up from his bed under it...just to have him circle me and come back right at legal light...So repeat what you have read...there isn't any changing what I know...
  14. OK guys I'm too tired to be sarcastic today so here it is ..how many years have I been saying this on here alone?...It depends on the deer and the area they live ..PERIOD. I'm telling you straight up and too many years to count, of observation. IE the area I call the swamp it is a measly 411 ft wide off a fairly busy road with what amounts to a trailer park on one side, and a house on the other. It is the bottom section of a 24 1/2 acre hillside property I own that amounts to a 1/2 mile, long, steep and narrow strip. This is a big buck sanctuary in that this is where they go to hide, this is where they hang in the later summer all through winter..I rarely, rarely go in there to hunt...but others do..yep my worst trespassing area...why...because there are usually so many big buck cruising in and out of there everyone see them...and yes the owner of the trailer park place(that's what locals call it) tells me...It's where I missed the 10 last year and took the 8 the year before. So here's the thing...the kids down there run dirt bikes and 4 wheeler all summer long...the owner works on demolition cars. Yet These big buck have been watched bedded not in the middle of the thickest rose and bramble...but on the property boundary in open view. I have seen the cell pics of this... We have another area where the huge drop tine popped out of last year and I have glassed some of the biggest buck on the hill hanging out...Where I watched out of range, a 10, 11,,and,8 point walk through my place to go bed...The neighbors swamp...an area where the neighbor and his wife cut fire wood all summer and fall ...going in with their tractor. I've taken most of my good 8's coming off this property and the one in the picture. I Have Rivers blind and 3 stands along the edge of that and the 1 acre hunting guy drives it every single year. It is surrounded by homes with barking dogs. Yes I'm still talking the country ,ag country. I'll skip the neighbors on the high side of me...This is where these buck could skip over to any of the big farms here and not see a person all year until season yet they don't. There is a reason why I can stand on my porch in Sept and take pictures of huge buck out in the open during the day. You've all seen them. So again you can't rubber stamp deer ...They just do not all act the same in ALL areas period! By the way I went down with the sthil leaf blower the day before I took the swamp buck, I had 4 buck walk around my stand before he came in,for a bow kill.
  15. He waited too long...part of the heart died...he'll be in the hospital a while...again NEVER WAIT IT OUT.... He's a nice guy...thanks for the prayers and well wishes...River needs both grandpas...
  16. Ohhh God.... I need sleep and a sinus pill...none for me...he's spending the night...Things at the hospital don't look good.
  17. My apologies...... no I didn't..that's called up at 2:30 am sinus infection...and grandson since 9am...thus my admitted sarcastic mood .
  18. That's right every single deer that wonders into the city limits or a country yard is a tame deer...I forgot that there are tame deer schools out there....BTW as I SAID depends on size and wind..he NEVER said he was going into that red zone...nor did he give it's size...I never have mature buck hanging out in my front garden even though they have literally thousands of acres of diverse lands to roam ...mostly ag country .
  19. All depends on size of piece and wind...I do find some responses humorous. Of course a big mature buck would NEVER find sanctuary where human activity has been...What are you thinking!! We have NEVER seen these types of bucks hanging out in parks on college campus, ppls back yards...how absurd... Deer ALWAYS do exactly what they guys writing books say they do....Oh ya I'm sarcastic today...
  20. No you just need to get a good base worked on them...then add all the junk you need to clean each winter and spring. Maple breaks down the fastest. poplar lasts awhile as well as the ash and bass wood.
  21. IDK...Was it a sexual assault ? may be
