  1. One more hour. If I can get shaking under control blue skies now
  2. Had a red fix 6 yards I front of ladder doe and fawn where the, first doe snorted. They snorted the swampy area. Buck was 28 yards OK I'm snaking so cold..didn't dress for rain . Just poured winds are NE not NW nearly lost a boot on the,way in .think oot got wet
  3. Pushed one right as I Got to stand 7:33 was busted. Just had a 7 pt sneak by
  4. Wow Now that is very strange to me....I'm shooting a Mission Venture and I have a 27" draw 49#'s no idea on the arrow weight really..I shoot full length arrows with a 100gr thunderhead or G5...I have pass throughs at 35 yrds and have had penetration through both shoulder... I would like to hear guys thoughts on your "issue " because The only time I never had pass through was with the 50# Hoyt raider/Intruder using Easton 2114 lights...aluminum
  5. All great points guys...Though if the wind(NW) is right and with there being rain tonight...no getting up and leaving late tomorrow morning... The head lamp goes on and I take a 3/4mile walk down to the swamp stand. The last time I said I'm going to the swamp and shoot a buck ...I did...but I'm feeling a bit jinxy today so I'll be happy with a doe...seeing I'll be home alone...lol Seeing I had the DR out anyways I Dr'd a few short trails to 5 stands and 3 ground blinds up here around the garden/plot area and to the new ridge stand...not as good as the leaf blower but OK for now...Maybe Mondays weather will loosen some of these leafs...wind helped a little
  6. I have 3 cams that are getting literally hundreds of pics ...non stop, late afternoon through early morning(daylight) same small buck and dozens of doe and fawn..Hey I'm losing the food here with the winds...apples are thinning and oaks won't last much longer.. The 8pt came up out of the swamp on the lower section of property...I did see one new rub ..but with all these doe why no buck? They are leaving their scent all over the place..They are coming in from all directions..I have rotated spots and zones to avoid over doing it and really, I haven't been out too many times considering how I normally hunt...have, as today, avoided bad winds....All farmers corn is still standing no Ag beans closer than 3 miles..BTW they wiped out all my standing in the garden... Now remember, I could understand this if the doe were doing what they've done the last 2 years...but they are out in day light ,so far, and here in way bigger numbers. Any thoughts? Headed out to finish pulling garden trellises and tilling ground for next season...
  7. Last years gun doe was a put down due to the severity of her limping..Seriously a drama queen for sure...after I got to her I thought really?I would have let a wound like that pass in cold gun season and opted for a bigger doe. I've allowed crazy big buck pass to shoot injured deer...but DEC gave a new tag.
  8. Only if the meat is bad ...you have to take whole deer to them and they will look at it and replace tag then take deer. I have put down many over the years and let several go...judgement calls on severity of injury and weather conditions..very cold temps less chance 've of infection.
  9. Mr B changed his mind ,so I'll be out here for a few hours
  10. I'd call the DEC tell them of the Hunter harassment and see if they'll come out..tell them you tried reasoning with him to no avail. Nothing to lose,he already dislikes you.
  11. Go post your age in the other thread...Then let my and others age experience, tell you if you'll think so in a few or several years See it's great talking the talk..and man do I get this now...But it means zip, until you've walked the walk . Only time allows for much of that...
  12. Got home 25 mins ago...lowered bow ..look up and 15 turkey are running down the hill to me...so after they finally turned toward the lane way and disappeared I got down and walked the line home...Went through and old rub line and everything but one was blk. So one really early rub for here.. OK sized hophorn...pulled two cards...still 118 pics at the apple tree and a error on the card for other.....lunch and maybe a nap... All my sale material arrived today so that goes in the wash and I can then divide the orange up for the blinds and the grey camo is needed as a replacement panel for one open blind and thinking about possible wrap on a couple of others..we'll see...hitting camp tomorrow so not sure about tonight...
  13. In old reliable 2 stand..nothing but squirrels.
  14. Interesting on several levels..great shot,,Kudo's to motives, lots of lessons to be had...perfect post title...
  15. Vanilla is one of the better scents for attracting deer especially buck
  16. Done!, Ya know there is a big advantage to planting plots everywhere whether it makes it difficult to get to a stands or not...30 mins done...verse several hours...
  17. There's one EVERY single year...I met mine last night...she had no idea where or what direction to point her angst.. so she stomped around in circles and had her neck stretched to it's limit and looked like a telescope on a submarine. Bless her though..out of time and bow on ground..I really didn't want to eat dinner at 9 ,because I was stuck in a stand.
  18. Man! are we really desperate enough to trust the weather so far ahead...lol........If it is what they say I'll leave the woods on my first break and go buy some lottery tickets.
  19. Good luck everyone...got my mowing done...tires washed...dang dog and laundry done...so I can go to camp ,when ever, this weekend and check stands ...maybe hunt while Mr B mows... Then Monday the phone gets turned off and I go to where they are...If the wind is right
  20. I got stared at several times last night and it took a long time for them to finally decided I bothered them...yet other deer(more mature ) didn't look twice...These are deer getting shot at and missed...I am sure of it...Which ticks me off having lost 2 opportunities on two mature doe both in my best stand. never getting a chance to fling an arrow...I have been letting things settle and going to different zones..tonight we have swirling winds I will not muddy the waters..I'm really just doe hunting at this point... Around here as the weeks pass more and more deer are getting educated They all look like snoopy doing his dance by week 3 Tip: if ya shoot and miss or even shoot and connect ...BE QUIET and don't go moving all around up there...There are still deer in the woods and you can bet your bippy, they are watching and learning!
  21. ...hey if it was that bad all over...BTW some areas do look look that.... Id be able to shoot deer and pick them up at the lower fence line...all tenderized from the rolling to the fence...lol
  22. Then NEVER go to this link!! https://www.qdma.com/10-weird-parasites-live-inside-deer/
