  1. Wow today sure was a slow day for me, as it seems it was for many others but there were some nice deer taken on here today! Congrats everyone!
  2. Congrats Biz, that is a big 4 point. Also congrats zag. Didn't end up seeing anything tonight but i did see a scrape on my walk in. I'm very surprised that we haven't been seeing much here. My trail cams showed some promise in late September. Oh well maybe tomorrow.
  3. Just got quite here. It's been dead I'm hoping for something in the last few hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Got in the stand at 230 for an evening sit. Sounds like people are siting in their rifles at the fish and game club range a couple miles away. I think that affects the movement because on morning sits there will be a lot of movement but when they start shooting sporting clays everything dies down immediately. 5. I'm currently reading compass country on my kindle after buckmaster7600 recommended it, and it is in fact a great book. Would recommend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Do you use the uncle mikes barrel band? I have them on a couple of my 7600s but the quality on the last one didn't seem that great. I wanted to go a different route but I couldn't find anyone who makes a different one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Here are the guns that i use throughout the season. From bottom to top: Remington 870 for southern tier. Remington 7600 for northern tier. Remington 700 Ultimate ML, and finally my Remington 700 for the yotes. The second picture is of my Ultimate ML. One of my favorite guns in my collection. If you can't tell, I'm a Remington guy and always will be.
  8. SuperMag because my main deer gun is an 870 Super Magnum. Not too creative. I've been becoming more active on this site after my 4 years of lurking so maybe i will change it eventually. Real name is Luke
  9. I've never personally shot one but i do like the savage bolt shotguns. Heard they're real tack drivers.
  10. Finally a nice night in 6S that doesn't conflict with my busy schedule. The wind is a little weird but not terrible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Deer Hunting in the Adirondacks by Dan Ladd is a great book. Especially if you hunt the big woods. Dan Ladd also runs the adkhunter website. Great site with a lot of knowledge and new pictures uploaded constantly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. The 870 forend makes it look like an older 760 which I like. My grandfather has a black laminate 7600 in 35 Whelen back when they were laser engraving all of the 7600 receivers. I love that gun, kicks like a mule though. I'd love to find a factory black laminate stock for one of mine but they seem to be obsolete. Does having the barrel cut down to carbine length drastically affect the accuracy?
  13. I use an 870 down home and a 7600 up north. Only reason i use my 870 at home is because the landowner doesn't allow rifles. I'm not complaining though because i love hunting with a slug gun. I also used a semi-auto 30-06 up north for a few years.
  14. Looks great. Is there any difference between a 20g butt stock and a 7600 one? i've always heard different things and am curious. I have a 30-06 with a synthetic stock that i want to put wood furniture on, but i would prefer finding it off of an old 7600 because the wood was nicer back then. Also how did you get the 20g forearm to work?
  15. I'm with you TF. I hope my day for a wall hanger is coming. I'm young so I have plenty of time.
  16. Yes, I do clean my barrel every year at the end of the season and have never had any issues.
  17. I might catch some flack for this but I use 2 3/4" federal rifled slugs . . . Out of a fully rifled barrel on my 870. I've done it that way for many years and killed deer with it no problem. I've wanted to change over to saboted slugs but I guess I'm just too cheap. $12+ for a box of 5 is ridiculous in my opinion.
  18. I'd take the thordsen over the ares. If I wanted a semi auto with a stock like that I'd just use my Remington 750. I'm sure it makes sense for some people though.
  19. Maybe I will check out the thordsen I don't know. I handled an ar with a spur grip last night and didn't like that very much. It does look like something's missing and didn't feel great either.
  20. I haven't actually handled one but I've seen them at my local Herb Phillipsons and just don't like how they look.
  21. Thanks I'll check it out
  22. I don't care for the looks of the thordsen or any of the ny compliant ones for that matter so I am going with a fixed mag.
  23. Wow beautiful gun. I share the same love for Remington pumps that you do and I admire your collection. Mind if I ask where you picked that one up? Gunbroker doesn't seem to have any and all the gun shows around me seem to want an arm and a leg for them in sub par condition.
  24. Has anyone here built an AR or have one? I'm going to start building one in the next couple weeks and want to know if anyone has any tips or pointers while doing so. I currently have a complete bushmaster A2 upper and a stripped lower. This is not a thread about what is legal or illegal in NY, as I already know the regulations and am building it 100% legal. Thanks guys!
  25. I personally don't have any levers but my dad has a Marlin 39A special edition 1 of 75. It's a sweet shooting gun and looks great with the gold accents. My next gun might be a lever, I've been looking at the marlin sbl. As for 35 rem, I've also always wanted one of those. Ive been on the lookout for a rem 760/7600 carbine in 35 rem.
