  1. Does anybody know when the LT license started? Just curious.
  2. No, it comes off and hangs over my shoulder on a hook or broken/sawed branch. I use a Kwikee Kwiver.
  3. I do it quite often but only use Zwickey Judo points. I don't know what your experience with them is but I wouldn't use anything else. Judo points have been in my quiver for many, many years. One arrow in my quiver always is loaded with one. Typically I shoot a few Judo point tipped arrows as I mooch my way into a stand in the afternoon for a hunt. Great practice.
  4. I donated $2 to the PA Game Commission last week when I bought my license on-line. Does that constitute excess money?
  5. The harness I have been using for approx. 10 years is made by DBI/SALA. It was made with black webbing and has rubber covers over all the metal buckles. The Fox 40 whistle attached on the chest strap is also a nice feature. I saw it advertised in a Hunting magazine and snagged it. The few harnesses I've seen that come with the tree stands aren't very easy to work with. Better to spend a few dollars and get a decent one that you won't be frustrated with and not wear.
  6. For white-tail, 120 grain Barnes TSX handloads out of my NULA 7mm-08. Could change in a moments notice to a 243 with Coreloks. If I spend the time getting a load together, I'd like to use 55 grain TSX bullets in my 223 Ackley. Although I hunt PA each year and have hunted a few other states, I look forward to hunting with a rifle in Ontario and Wyoming Counties this fall.
  7. Always. For the gent that said nobody would miss him.......it would suck to be blowing into a tube to control your wheel chair and getting fed through another tube, wouldn't it? And burmjohn: yea, 12' and lower you can't get hurt from a fall. You might die but you certainly won't get hurt. Have a nice day!
  8. That's a huge score for your 24 year old! If he hunts and fishes each year he'll be way ahead of the game by the time he gets to be an old geezer. And if he decides to move out of state, it is still valid. Great deal.
  9. Quote-"Time with my dogs clears my mind, renews my faith, and lets me see the world as it is. My only regret loving dogs as I do, is the misery of their early departure." Robert G. Wehle, ELHEW KENNELS Mr. Anker- Great signature line. Somewhere I have a photo of a statue of Mr. Wehle and a dog from the middle of Main Street in Union Springs, Alabama. Pretty cool.
  10. Gun hunting, maybe a cigar or two during the slow times ;D Archery, no. Duck, goose, dove, absolutely!
  11. I checked. I purchased LT sportsmans, muzzle loader and archery 9/2002. $500, $125 and $125=$750 This will be my 9th season with the LT package. Sure seemed like a pile of cash at the time! (still is) I wouldn't be surprised to see and not totally apposed to some kind of required stamp each year for LT license holders. Certainly would come with a HUGE uproar from the masses if/when it is purposed but in this cash strapped state I think it is a possiblity.
  12. I purchased mine about 7 years ago, just before they jumped it then, bought the ML and archery LT at the time also. IIRC, $770 for the whole enchilada. (I could get up off the couch and check but.....) Smokin' deal.
  13. The trail cam has been a big hit with me. Lots of anticipation in viewing the SD card........ Among many great shots:
  14. The two bucks pictured here were killed last fall. The one on the left was killed by a friend and the other is the buck pictured above, killed by me. Both jaws were taken to the DEC, in Buffalo and aged. The buck on the left was aged at 2.5 years and mine, as noted above was 5.5 years old. I do know that sometimes aging deer can be somewhat tricky but the difference in the two jaws is amazing. I would have NEVER guessed these two at those ages, maybe the other way around. Interestingly, the buck on the left was approx. 140 lbs and mine 173 lbs. Pretty tough to judge these guys on the hoof!
  15. I took the lower jaw into the DEC in Buffalo.
  16. I have hunted State Game Lands in PA for almost 30 years along with many of my friends. We are all still alive. The woods are crawling with people and most get out without a scratch. I'd be more concerned about driving to and from your hunting area. ;D
  17. I figured the OP was referring to the age of harvested (dead) deer?
  18. For field dressing, either a CRK Sebenza or Wayne Clay folder. For skinning work, Gene Ingram.
  19. Killed a fair 8pt last November (2nd day of gun) and it was real big bodied, 173lbs. Turned out he was 5.5 years old. Oldest one I've ever killed that I know of. We age most of the bigger racked bucks and some of the does as well. Quite a surprise on that one!
