  1. To be clear, it’s not an absolute, I didn’t mean that. The rut is still on. They’re just humping more at night and around 8pm than what we would normally see during the day. I had one of the biggest bucks I’ve ever seen on camera at 2pm during the day this week lol. But I’m not seeing the typical 4 or 5 in the afternoon that you’d expect. Mostly mornings is when they’re moving and afternoons have been quiet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. There’s a lot of this going around this year. Bucks don’t care, does warm temp bother you in the summer, etc etc. Can you get a buck on a doe in this heat? Of course. But heat absolutely DOES affect their daytime rutting activity. How much hard work do you do on the hot days in august or do you wait for cool fall weather or evening? Bucks will still rut, but they’ll wait till night. That’s the problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Yeah I’m thinking if they were nice she wouldn’t be homeless. Some guy, somewhere would have put her up lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Yep lot of fat on mine, but early in the year. Lots of food around though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Isn’t today crossbow opener? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Why post a pic of a gut pile if all you care about are antlers? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I know. Honestly I don't even mind the ball busting if it's all in good fun. What I don't need or appreciate is the negativity from deer jizz jockeys who are just straight up spiteful and negative for no reason. that's what got me going.
  8. Yeah I've done that too, and I'm very guilty of not getting in super early lol. I've also dropped my phone out of the stand and had to make the call... do I climb down or sit here without it for the next 2 or 3 hours haha.
  9. harm? probably not much. But judgment? For sure. Heck I haven't killed many birds and Bill likes to remind me of that whenever there's a tit for tat with him. Hunter shaming was a rule that was always enforced pretty well but now we have 1.5 mods it's not. I also have had unknown users post at me with pretty informed knowledge of who I am. That was a nice wakeup call too. I don't own the land I hunt... yet. And big bucks being dropped drives people to do some crazy things. I don't need that in my life. But mostly, like I said, there's nothing good to come from posting either. Someone's not going to venmo me money and I can't exchange internet likes for currency either. I don't share on social media either, it's just not anyone's business and I give zero f's. Obviously this has gotten to a point, so I think I'll just go ahead and stop even posting that I got one at all and we can all move on.
  10. yeah never cost me one either. I've gotten much better. I don't ever read anything anymore, I just scroll and check things in very small doses now. Don't want all that time, prep and effort to ruin the one small window I might have.
  11. I thought about this as well. It's nice when it's a long slow sit, but I've for sure looked down for too long reading something and looked up to see a deer snuck in. Main thing for me is safety. Nobody getting ahold of me is nice, but I have a wife and kids and if I did have an accident myself, I need that phone.
  12. biz wanted to know if I recovered it, or I wouldn't have put the pic at all. You're just pissy because you owe chef a hunt and backed out and everyone knows you're a bitch for it. Don't take your anger out on some guy you don't know because he doesn't feel the need to show the bucks or doe he shoots. I generally like the group of guys here and like to share details about my hunts and that I put one down as I think it helps motivate some to know they're moving. If it suits you better I won't even post that I got a deer at all. Would that work? Your once again proving my point. There's literally nothing to gain by sharing pics on a public forum with no moderation where the public can see everything and new members can't even join. zero. zero benefit.
  13. do you have cams on runs and off the plot? I have 2 bucks that I've not captured once in a plot but going through the woods and skirting them.
  14. I know. My post wasn't meant to be directed at you. Just an observation as a fellow cell cam guy for others to think about and consider.
  15. looking forward to hopefully see you drop one early and not see the grind you went through last year
  16. I wouldn't sleep on the first week of october if you have plots or food. Unpressured deer and food early on can be instant success if you can pattern them. Also this year we had a good cold snap early and activity was crazy. Now we're getting that warm weather that we usually get in early to mid-october. I remember 2 years ago I think we had crazy rain and wind, we just can't predict the weather and it does affect hunting. I'll stick to my belief thought that hunting or hunting moderate to hard from 10/10-10/20ish is not a great idea. I think you're doing more harm than good with scent and pressure.
  17. it's a tough one for me. I'm a gun guy and have donated money to state org's trying to get some of our freedoms back or save the ones we have left. I also understand public land. I can be equally annoyed at mountain bikers as I can be at shooters, although only 1 can be a safety issue. Ultimately, similar to small game hunters, a little courtesy goes a long way on shared land. At the end of the day, what's legal is legal and we have to accept that and it's also totally ok to be annoyed haha.
  18. And this is exactly why I haven't shown a pic of a dead deer in at least 4 or 5 years. Don't care about others judgment. Maybe I haven't shot a wall hanger in 5 years, maybe I shot a doe this last weekend. I share with my family and close friends and have no need to "brag". Thanks for proving my point though, maybe the others will understand a little better now.
  19. My dad and I are both running multiple cams on our properties and if I'm honest I've had several recent hunts with shooters in range and never on cam. Both our properties have been a little dead lately on cams, but in the woods it's shown otherwise. Just a word of caution to all the cam users out there, to not just rely solely on them for activity indicators.
  20. From what I've heard that is true, but why spend the gas to pick and pile them?
  21. Holy shit. I grew up with an apple farmer and all around orchards and have never seen anything like that. I did hear this year was a boom for apples and the sale price is real low as a result, but don’t understand why they’d take the time to pile them all up. Always thought dropped apples were good fert for the tree. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Same. Oldest championship game is at 1 and the 2 youngest are done, so no hunting and no football is nice for a change haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Why’s it a safe bet? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. There was that cold snap in early October where a bunch of deer dropped and action was good. The rut will always be there, but those were good days to hunt if you could. Tough part of life I’d you’re not retired is trying to plan that vacation around weather. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. 5’ left? That’s crazy, best to check the site which I know you will. Check for a sapling deflection maybe? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
