3 hours this morning after 4 hours yesterday on some DEC land in Westchester. Yesterday afternoon, I saw one doe at 100yrds. This morning I sat until 10 or so. As I was walkin out I kicked three bedded does. Come on RUT!!! Where are you!

Sat today from 3:00 until dark. Wind wind and more wind until about 5:15. Once it stopped blowing the squirrels showed up then at 5:30, three does came charging out of the funnel I was watching. Could not stop them at all. One minute later, a 4 pt came at the same pace. Clearly he was chasin some tail. They were all gone before I had a chance to get excited. Two more does arrived out of a near swamp as I was climbin down. At least I know there around.

I had the same experience opening day but many of the shots were before legal light so that would rule out small game. Maybe yotes which my area would appreciate. -

Predate...tough call. I cannot say that would have done anything different. I'd be pretty upset if DEC did not replace the tag but I dont know if I would trust them to do the right thing about replacing the tag.

Whiel no doe was seen, I had a 4 point walk away from me out of range on Sat morning. I hit the doe call and he turned back to check me out. He came in closer to range but offered no shot. I needed him to take abotu 5 more steps...No luck but he definately reacted to the doe call.

I called deer search this weekend for a friend of mine who shot an 8 pointer. We searched for 3 hours prior to calling them. They came, searched for two hours, found some additional blood drops past were we found sign but even the dogs came up empty??? I guess the hit was not in any vital but the blood trail seemed to indicate a good hit.

We went a step further after a guy I hunt with hit an 8 pointer. Great trail...then nothin. Found a few drops up the mountain, found a nice pile of blood where he must have laid down...then nothin again after three hours of searching. Called in some tarckers with bloodhounds who picked up a few more hits (tiny blood drops) and after two more hours...NOTHIN'. Sucks -
Does that ever prompt you to use decoys? Anyone out there use decoys? where? Field edges only? When?

I was planning on headin up to tent camp ftomorrow night aftre a half day at work. Weather has its own ideas so we will make the trip early Sat morning to be in the woods 1hour before sunup and hopefully the rain will be gone. I was equally excited about the whole expereince of tent camping to hunting so I'm a bit pissed. I bet all that negativity goes away when Sat finally arrives.

To de-scent my dryer, I washed it down with baking soda and water and cleaned the lint trap well. Then I ran the dryer with old towels and put some sprigs of mint in the dryer with the old towels. I found it gave a "cleaner" more natural scent to the dryer...seemed to work and now the clothes are sleeping with pine boughs waitin for the opener.

So far the only thing I forgot was to call in sick one day I was hunting. I realized it 30 minutes before first light UP IN THE TREE. Called my wife who was still sleepin since I need to call in via the computer. Made her get up and log me in sick...

The weather is just another one of those ridiculous variables that messes with the hunter's mind and robs us of more sleep? Hey there's a good new thread...Most annoying variables that you can't control.

While I appreciate your friends dedication to not breakin the law, I cannot see myself following the same strict code of adherence after a 50 mile trip. As a lifetime license holder, is there any flexability if I am not carrying since my information can be easily accessed with a driver's license? I know the answer is no, but am hopefull Big Brother would at least take that into consideration.

Since I am supposed to be campin out friday night, I'm pretty pesimisstic about the weather although Saturday seems like it will be fine. Although the weathermen are so often wrong, I'd rather have them say rain when I want it sunny...
