I remember when things change and the hunting community that gathered in diners and driveways now meets in the “Live from the woods” thread prior to and post the hunt to share stories with like-minded sportsman from across the state and to form some pretty cool and unique friendships. My first hunt was after college (25 years ago) so I had no experience of those days of pulling off the road and just hunting tracts off land and checkpoints and full motels (even then the hunting numbers seemed down - prior to serious pocket internet and cell phones). I’m already too old to regret the life we have (while living it) and will look to make new traditions since going backwards is rarely a possibility. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Long-ish story on this boil. These smoked sausage come from here… Which was a place I would stop with my then girlfriend (now wife of 20 years) on our way home from West Virginia where we volunteered building houses in the Appalachian community. College touring (Lehigh, F&M, Muhlenberg(her fav so far), Lafeyette….) with BroadwayHunter this last week brought us to their doorstep. And yet we can’t have it both ways. Hunter numbers down..what’s wrong with kids today? Hunter Ed instructors are old (sorry Grampy!) and hard to find so no courses offered to get new hunters in the field . Hunter Ed courses are offered only through State approved sites. Great! State government involvement makes things so much better. I got my trappers Ed class done via mail this year. I’m very glad that’s done but not sure I am trapping any time soon - need more time, hands on practice, would love to follow along an experienced trapper-none of which is involved in the live trapper safety class I don’t think. I can’t imagine any organization would make you get an un-proven vaccine - the risk of future law suite are too great. They can pressure and coerce and make life difficult if you don’t but they still leave it to you to say yes.
