Good memory......3rd week of October last year.

That's the first time I've ever been told that! I might need to print this to show the wife!! Didn't you slam a big buck soon out of the Covid gate too? (Or am I pushing that "good memory" thing too far?)

  2. Had a close encounter with a shooter yesterday morning, but unfortunately not close enough. I need to suck them out of the neighbors field (non-hunter and doesn’t give permission). Thought if I had my decoy, that would have sealed the deal. Pulled her out this morning, but she blew over. I have to put her up on a log to give her more height to be seen better from the field (She wasn’t blessed with nice long legs). With the gusty wind, I needed to prop her up, but I think she’ll pass…

  3. Had my doubts bucks would move much today, or at least that’s the excuse/reasoning I used to justify leaving the woods at 9:30 this morning. I was 2 miles down the road this morning when a nice buck sprinted across the road in front of me at 10:30am! Don’t know how the guy coming in the opposite direction avoided hitting him! My son has sent me 4 cell cam pics throughout the day of nice bucks cruising through a funnel property that he hunts 2 miles from my place! 75 degrees or not, I decided I better get my ass to the stand this afternoon….

  4. Wondering if the does are laying low right now, to avoid being harassed by small bucks? I saw 4 small bucks yesterday zig-zagging along a thicket looking for a doe. It’s been dead for days now. Cams have been dead too. That light switch has to be flipped soon…

looking forward to hopefully see you drop one early and not see the grind you went through last year :)

From your lips to Gods ears Belo!!   I'm not blessed with having a good deer population around the property I hunt, so it's always a grind for me! So few that I won't consider shooting a doe. Being selective about the bucks I shoot makes it even harder and more frustrating. I'm certainly envious of guys that see multiple deer on most hunts...

  6. I have 10 cell cams out and I’ve had little to no deer activity on cam over the past couple of weeks. Last night, not 1 deer! The night before that, a doe. At most, over the past 2 weeks, I’ve gotten 2-3 does and 2-3 small bucks on cam each night. Pretty much correlates with what I’ve been seeing it the woods! They cut the corn next to me on 10/10 and the deer have all but vacated the area. I walked through the cornfield, and I bet I didn’t find a handful of corn left on the ground!

I haven’t gotten a pic of a shooter during daylight hours since 9/26. One new shooter has shown up recently, but only in the middle of the night. Last year, my cams were dead until ~11/9. Kind of expecting the same thing this year….

  7. this season i couldve bagged the entire bow season for the most part and just fished.  Then started hunting first weekend of Xbow.  Next year i am taking 0 time off til halloween.  Then pound it for 3 weeks which are the best anyway

That’s what I did this year Rob. I took off four 1/2 vacation days in Oct, but I’m off for the next 4 weeks. Well, I’m sure I’ll have to pop into a Teams meeting here and there, but I’d feel better keeping up with things anyways.

  8. Thanks for the offer Otto, but I better pass on the Winchesters. I have 100 of the CCI 209 Magnum primers that Phade gave me, so that will hold me over for a few years. I'd like to stick with the CCI 209M primers, as the Blackhorn 209 needs a hot primer and that's the one that Blackhorn recommends. They also fit snug in the breech with minimal blow back.

    Thanks again pal!

  9. Possibly me? I was looking for CCI 209M primers. Phade hooked me up with a box, but I would love a few more if I could get my hands on them, so I don't have to go through this again!
