I will disagree regarding the need for a saw.. there is never a need for a saw.

Every bone-joint can be separated using just the knife, I use the cheap but quality mora knives. 2 sharp knives take care of the deer from skinning to deboning.

Do not use the same knife for skinning/trimming fat and deboning and cleaning the meat. For deboning meat and trimming use clean fresh fillet knife and you will be happy.

I have done many deer also and never used a saw. I can see where one might come in handy at times though.

It is just the way we are taught to do things. Everyone has a different method.

Afternoon family plans have changed so I’m free to hunt but man 75 degrees 12 mph winds with heavy gusts just do not have me feeling it at all. Oh also I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled on Monday so my mouth still hurts. My wife has bronchitis and both kids are getting over colds.

No acorns is right! At least last year there was a bumper crop of hickory nuts which the deer love as well.  The crop fields around me have been picked, coated with liquid manure and tilled too. It appears they they are mostly eating greens at this point.

Have you seen deer eating these? I have hickory trees where I hunt and never seen a deer stop for them. I always wonder if it was because the are so hard to chew on.

Yea I get it but….. I don’t want to survey every property I’m interested in :)

I like onx. I have used it alot in NY and brought it to Montana and used it as my GPS. Worked great. Just have to keep it in your head you can be real close using the maps or 30 off in either direction.
