    Awesome Ryan. Looks like it'll serve you well. That garage is pretty big. That said i agree with phade 1000% get it layed out and planned before you fill it. I built one bigger than my last house for sq ft and still isn't big enough with all the crap I'm putting in it. Havent even gotten to getting shelving and building benches in there yet.

    I have a very basic idea of how I'm going to lay it out. Gotta keep a section for normal garage stuff like mower, lawn and garden tools and such. It has 1 huge overhead door that I want to keep clear all the way to the back wall for bringing in our vehicles when it's going to snow plus customers can back in to lift deer and other critters right out of their trucks. There's a small office that I want to convert to a meat processing room. Going to eventually get one of those cool bot things and build a walk in cooler for hanging deer and stuff. It has a small bathroom in it already that needs to be redone. But at least the plumbing is there. Probably put in a Miter station at some point to do a little woodworking. I have plans for building a 4x8 custom workbench with a mounting stand on each corner to be able to work on 4 deer at a time plus tool and material storage. Plus keep a corner clear for band practice! I got big plans but it's gonna be one small step at a time!!!

    Do you guys use skirts on your ladder stand shooting rail

    I use skirts on all my ladder stands. I got the ones with magnets in the front for quiet entry and exit. I tie the top and bottom to keep them from flapping in the breeze too much. In the front I tie the top to the shooting rail all the way across and the bottom just in the corners to leave enough slack for climbing in and out then the magnets close it behind me. Definitely helps you get away with some movement at least. Only downside I can think of is you can't adjust the shooting rail after their tied but the adjustment bolts usually rust up after a year or two anyway making them non adjustable anyway unless you spray them with something regularly. I even set up my climber with skirts. I keep them rolled up and tied to the shooting rail piece then when I get to my desired height I un tie them, let them roll down and tie them to the platform

    Looks like a great place. Congrats. Did you get some hunting acres with it too? 
    Yea but someone else owns it! Lol! It's right next to a property I've hunted for 10 years. About a 150 yard walk from my back door to my most productive stand! The property I have permission to hunt on is only 5 acres but I'm going to talk to the owner of the farm behind us and ask if I can hunt that too. It's about 25 acres

    Oh yea almost forgot, the shop came with a house! Hahaha! Guess I'll show you guys some of that too now that we're almost un packed. I'm gonna put barnwood over that god awful red around the fireplace soon.

    Yea the peppers them selves are very different in spice level that it’s hard to follow a recipe..

    I would recommend mixing a Serrano in there if you want extra heat.

    I don’t know why but I have in my head that I want to do a Korean BBQ flavored sausage

    congrats man, that's awesome I can't imagine the freedom you'll feel now from an apartment. I would recommend you focus on that roof area first as it looks like there may have been some leaks in the past (maybe fixed now?). All the work you do on the inside, especially with any mounts could be lost if your structure isn't sound.
    Oh and obligatory hunting question. Any land?

    Yup definitely needs a roof. Part of it is metal and the rest is shingles. Thinking of doing it all metal. Got a buddy of mine who does roofs so he's gonna help me out

    Forgot to mention the best part... it's literally right next door to a property I already hunt! My landlord of 15 years (and close friend) lives on the next street over and our backyards almost touch. He only has 5 acres but it's next to 25 acres of farm land. I'm gonna try to contact the owner of the 25 and see if I can hunt that too. Even if I can't, I'll still be able to walk right out my back door and be in my stand within 2 minutes. I've killed more deer from that stand than anywhere. Don't see too many quality bucks there during the season though. Sometimes get a couple good ones on cam in September then they're never to be seen again. Maybe if I start knocking down more does the buck ratio will even out a little. At least that's the excuse I'll use for filling up the freezers!

    This is going to be a long process but the process has finally started! My wife and I just bought a house after living in the same downtown Troy apartment for 15 years. And mounting animals in my living room was getting old and frustrating. Luckily the house we bought has a massive garage that will become my taxidermy shop. Over 3000 square feet. It does needs a lot of work and I'd like to share the process with all of you. Not gonna do to much with it over the winter, maybe just some interior demo. Gonna set up shop in the basement for the time being, definitely better than the living room! Progress will probably a little slow but I'll try to keep you all updated.     Buck weights

    No worries here man, it happens to everyone. That empty tag just means that there's a buck out there still alive that will be bigger this coming season!
    I'm gonna keep telling myself this as I stare at 2 unfilled buck tags this year!

    Venison Jerky

    Camp chef pellet grill for me. All the features of a treager plus more and much cheaper. Bought the jerky grates for it too. Usually takes 4 or 5 hours at 160 depending on thickness and how dry you want it. I like it to still have some moisture left. It hurts the shelf life but I package and freeze what I'm not gonna eat right away. Defrosts real quick at room temperature or in the fridge overnight and is ready to eat. Almost always have a pack of jerky with me on just about every hunt and fishing trip. Bought a jerky gun to do ground jerky but haven't tried it yet 8263b015937cf2de3a319cb6be685b36.jpg

    Part of the process was knowing you did everything in your living room, it's what made the mounts more impressive, lol. 
    I thought my 35x48 shop was big. 3000 sq ft out building is impressive. 
    Looking forward to seeing it.  Merry Christmas my friend.. 
    Hahahaha! It's definitely time to upgrade though! I didn't measure it myself the garage is listed at 42x75! Bigger than the house(as it should be)! I'll actually be mounting everything this winter in the basement until I put some work in to that garage

    Will definitely post pics. We're buying a house with a massive 3000 square foot garage behind it. Definitely needs a lot of work but it's more space than I could ever ask for. No more mounting animals in my downtown apartment living room!

    He definitely does great work for only being at it for 3 yrs.  My nephews 8 pt is the 3rd buck I've taken to him.  Him and his wife are great people. 
    You've been instrumental to my young taxidermy career! Can't wait for you to see my new shop! Should be in next week!

    I just wanted to add another thank you to Ryan.  My little guy got his first buck this season so I reached out to Ryan todo a Euro. Ryan did a great job, was fast turning it around  and very reasonable.
    He also showed me some of his work, which looked excellent.  Thanks again!

    Elk (never done it)
    Mule deer (done it twice and absolutely love it)
    Antelope (done it twice and would maybe do it 1 more time)

    I’d like to go with Bow instead of rifle.

    To each their own. I put in for the bull moose Maine lottery for fun, but I would never have an interest in an actual moose hunt. I’d love to hunt sheep or grizzly but can’t justify the price. Maybe I’ll get lucky and draw a super tag

    Just curious. Why put in for maine moose if you have no interest in hunting a maine moose? I can tell you first hand that it's a great time in a beautiful part of this country!
