  1. Sawyers permethrin works great for keeping ticks off you. However , it claims to be odorless after drying. I don’t believe it because I can smell it , and if I can smell it so can the deer.

U r rite. I use the spray for clothes close to the skin and the mix for outer layers which smells even more. All get sprayed with scent killer and kept in sealed containers. Can still smell it.
Do the same for woods working clothes except no scent killer.

  2. Heard from a reliable source the guy had broken ribs and a collapsed lung. No other details.
All things considered, he’s pretty lucky so to speak.
Wear those harnesses up and down.
After a couple good scares with climbers, intentionally cut straps, and adjacent ash trees I personally had to buckle down.
Even with all the safety equipment a short fall will slam u around quite a bit

  3. U gotta use permithrin. Don’t take any chances. Get Lyme blood tests everytime u get blood work. Get to the doc for the shot just in case. Hope it’s just a scare

  4. At approximately 5:55pm Owego Fire and Owego Emergency Squad were dispatched to a location on W. Beecher for a male who had fallen 20 feet from a tree stand. The victim was in a wooded location and met the criteria to be flown by medical helicopter. Guthrie Air was activated and a landing zone was established at OFA soccer island. Campville Fire Department and EMS assisted. Great job by everyone involved.

  5. If the dec approves ur annual commitment then the tax assessor should be obligated by the 480a tax law to give u the reduction. Not sure what the other agency u mentioned is involved for. I also believe u will be responsible for the % of ur timber sale to the assessor due to still being in the program. U might mention to the assessor that u r not gonna pay em if they don't give u the tax break and see how far that gets ya. This can't be that hard, although I kno it is. What a pita. Good luck and let us kno

  6. Got a safety harness? Make sure u use it or don't go up. Make sure top and bottom are tied together. Take ur time and go slow. Double check everything. U don't have to go 20 ft up. If u don't want to haul it in every time a cable lock will secure both sections to tree. Good luck

  7. Now this is interesting, never thought about shooting WITHOUT my camo turkey hat (ball cap style) with the drop down face netting within it. In fact i panic if i think i have temporarily misplaced it. When cover is heavy, net is always down and you have to move for them to make you providing you covered your profile properly. If i get caught with netting up, deer wins. I guess i have adjusted because i practice with hat, have killed 100% of my bow and crossbow kills with this hat and wouldn't be in woods without it.

Where did u get that hat with the netting? Mine is so old it looks faded white. Can't seem to find em anymore

  8. Find someone who has a climber and ask them to show u how to use it. Then decide for urself. It's probably worth the effort to see if it will work for u. What county r u in? If someone on here is nearby they might volunteer.

  9. May want to check the regs, I'm pretty sure you can't be in a stand ? I know that was the rule years ago. Either way, good luck to the youts !

Yep it's the rule. Anyone know why? Safety? Stands are part of the process these days. Kinda hard to figure this out

  10. I put up a Trail Cam last summer and it lasted through hunting season , winter and spring ... I went to my property today to change battery's and chip and lo and behold some lowlife decided to steal it ! I hung another one with a cable and lock just too see if the lowlife is still on "the hunt" for trail cam's ... we shall see ! I did put some brush around it and now I just hope !

Ain't that nice. The 5 I got left were still out there last weekend. Should be lots of pics of my forester as he was out there marking. Gonna spend some time sniffing around this weekend. Got a feeling somebody is planning to be a trespasser/thief. Good luck at your place.

  11. Double snatch block. I've got one with webbing. Very small and lite that lives on the wheeler. Get deer to a tree branch, attach snatch block to branch (sometimes a challenge) lift deer and then lower onto wheeler rack. Can do the same at the truck or slide off wheeler. If things get real nasty I'll get the cheap plastic kids sled and tow it out which can be fun down hill in the snow. Real bad , like 2 down or a bear, I get the tractor.

  12. Just had one stolen recently. Locked with Python cable and suitcase lock to keep them from removing sd card. They tried to cut the cable with what looked liked a hatchet but failed. Must have smashed the cam off the cable lock as there was only a small piece of plastic left. Bolt cutters and they could have had it in good shape. Got a feeling they didn't want me to get that sd card and see what they were up to. 5 other cams were unmolested.
