  1. Really bad at bowhunting maybe...... I was just putting this out there if anybody is interested. I emailed the guy asking for his permission to make the post, he said if they don't get enough participants they'll reschedule for January, and he'll post it on the site.
  2. Thought I'd pass this along, those time frames are during my work hours, but I could probably listen while coding, as long as I don't have any meetings scheduled. If they're looking for feedback they should just make an account and post on the site! Subject: Invitation to participate in a focus group on deer hunting and CWD Dear Paul, I am writing to invite you to participate in a focus group to discuss topics related to deer hunting and chronic wasting disease (CWD). We (me and other staff at Cornell University) will be holding meetings on several dates. Each meeting will have 10-12 hunter participants and will be 1.5 – 2 hours in length. The meetings will be held virtually, so you can participate by computer or telephone from the comfort of your own home. Hunters who participate in the entire meeting will receive a $25 Amazon gift card as a small “thank you” for their time. These focus groups are part of a larger study sponsored by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). Discussion will focus on your deer hunting practices and your views about CWD. Written summaries of these discussions will help DEC understand hunter’s views and how best to communicate with deer hunters on topics related to CWD. These meetings will involve informal discussion organized around a few key topics. Your participation is completely voluntary and all the information you provide will be confidential. I am contacting you because your name was drawn by DEC staff as part of a random sample of hunting license holders. We will hold focus groups with different groups of hunters on the following dates and times: · Hunter Group 1: Tuesday, December 15, 2020, from 7:00pm-9:00pm · Hunter Group 2: Thursday, December 17, 2020, from 7:00pm-9:00pm · Hunter Group 3: Friday, December 18, 2020, from 7:00pm-9:00pm If you or a deer hunter you know would like to participate in one of these meetings, please reply to this email, indicating the dates on which you could to attend. I will respond with a link you can use to participate in one of these focus group discussions. Thanks for considering this invitation. If you have questions about this research, feel free to contact me by email ([email protected]). Sincerely, Bill Siemer William F. 3. Phew! This thread saved my rear! Found some 95 gr 243 on Outdoor Limited. Probably not the greatest year for setting up a new rifle. And there's no way I could do it without all you sharing the knowledge.
  4. https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov/#/ Put in your address there, and call the providers listed for your area. That reminds me, I have to call spectrum and call them awful names for not stringing my road yet.
  5. In the "special" bracket, by just 20 points. Boo. This is what happens when you let it auto-draft, because......... Kids? Tacks is going to love his KUIU gift card.
  6. I'm in the process of getting 3500 hemlock cut off roughly 100 acres (on paper, it's actually way more because how damn steep it is). Plus some misc. hardwoods to sweeten the pot. Right now they're excavating the landing at the bottom of the "hill". Hoping we get a hard freeze for a couple weeks with no snow.
  7. TSC sticks by their merchandise pretty well. I got a 500$ roller this summer for the price of like 250$ in exchange
  8. I've got something in my eye. That's it. Sorry man, we just take solace from the fact that they were going to pass regardless, and we had the privilege of being their friends while they were here, and gave them the best life we could.
  9. Sarcasm + Inside joke, recently a member called another member out over alleged misidentification of an obscure subspecies of tree. In a totally unrelated thread. It just kind of mystified everyone. Moving on:. Interesting video, thanks! I haven't seen a Black oak on my land, but we have a lot of diversity in subspecies of White oaks.
  10. Thanks NYS! Sounds like something someone who doesn't have livestock would say.
  11. Found a nice B14 timber in 243 with a walnut stock on GunBroker. Time to see how this FFL business goes.
  12. Always been a fan of Alex Smith. Harder than a coffin nail.
  13. Thanks guys. I mean I don't mind a bit of a markup, but I don't want to drop that much money on something bottom of the line. More of a middle of the line sort of fellow in regards to rifles. @shoots100 recommended this https://www.armslist.com/posts/12809746/albany-new-york-rifles-for-sale--ar15-with-ammo but I was really hoping for a 20" barrel.
  14. https://www.armslist.com/posts/12284016/albany-new-york-rifles-for-sale--ny-compliant-ar15 Wish I knew more about AR's. Is that a decent deal?
  15. https://www.opticsplanet.com/barnes-bullets-30548-xpb-460-s-w-451-275-gr-xpb-20-box.html
  16. https://www.finalflight.net/bergara-rifles/bergara-b14-hunter-243-rifle-20951 So I do the following: Call my dealer, get their FFL #, and in checkout I'll be prompted to out all that info in? Haven't ever done this before so I want to be sure i do it right.
  17. Man it looks unpleasant out there, good luck to everyone going out!
  18. Missed a donkey Doe, side of the hill. Clean miss, she stepped in front of a tree. Oh well, guess I'll have to keep hunting!
  19. I'm up, gonna go do some wind bumping to my dad for the morning, then family obligations.
