  1. I learned over the year that their are good acorns and bad acorns. I been in a woods before and deer would only go to this one tree and eat every acorn in that area and 50 feet away another tree loaded and ground loaded and deer would not touch them.
  2. I was out doing some scouting in a area and stumbled across this. I have never seen ginseng . Took a couple pictures, but it appeared the plant was dying off and turning yellow already and only this leaf left and this cluster of berries. Can anyone confirm what this is>
  3. What cracks my up is the people with electric cars. Where do they thing the electric comes from, most of it is coal or natural gas. Just think if a big black out hits the country like it did a few years ago and these people won't be able to charge their cars.
  4. Only in NY would getting a ticket in another country effect your NY drivers license. If you are convicted of a traffic violation in another state or country, points are not added to your New York State driving record, unless the violation occurred in Ontario or Quebec. New York State has a reciprocal agreement with Quebec and Ontario. Traffic violation convictions that occur in these provinces are recorded on your New York State driver record, and the convictions have the same effect and carry the same points as convictions that occur in New York State. This can affect your driver violation point total and Driver Responsibility Assessment.
  5. Well I read a big article about all these reality Alaska shows and they are all fake. Where the Browns lived before they where talking about having to live off the land, well the article stated they lived a 1/2 mile from a Piazza Shop.
  6. Yes, to get Ag Assessment you need a 5 year lease (minimum)and the farmer has to have over $10,000 a year in gross income. You need to file form RP-305 with your local assessor. Also you need to get soil group work sheets from the soil department in your area. I think if you get a lease signed and the paper work in by March 1st you can get the AG Assessment started on your 2016-2017 Schools taxes. https://www.tax.ny.gov/research/property/assess/valuation/agindex.htm
  7. I my area there has been a huge increase in the farm rental rates. As the Amish as been buying farm land, and no pretty much and land up. The have been paying $3000-$4300 a acre now.Rates also depends on the type of soils you have. If he signs a 5 year lease, then he can get a Ag Assessment reduction on his property taxes, but this needs to be filed my March 1st, and also the farmer has to have a gross income of over $10,000 in a calendar year. Also someone said charge by the total property taxes. Sorry that does not make good business sense, as the money you get coming in is considered income and you will be taxed on it. I own 200 acres and lease the land out and treat it as a business. The land should be able to make you some money. I get $70 per acre now. I also have several other farmers that have approached me willing to take it over anytime if I every want to lease it to someone else. Also with have 200 acres in one spot, also helps because it cuts the farmers cost down on traveling, vs them farming a 25 acres in on spot, 50 in another and so on. Also my land has very good soil, and produces good yields.
  8. I have a Avian Hen and Jake, these are by the best decoys I have every used. Birds just see them and come right into them.
  9. The buck I shot was loaded with wood and deer ticks.
  10. So what does the data plan cost after it runs out ?
  11. One problem with the gift option its hard to dispute the charge if you never get the item
  12. Yes we just got rifle's this year. I had him in the scope standing up at 200 yards problem was neighbors barns and a distillery where in the distant background. Problem was his location. There was only one direction that I could shoot. Any other way there are either barns or houses, or a main road in the back ground. So I just had to work my way to be able to get a shot.Plus I could not see him all the time laying in the golden rod, with the wind. blowing the golden rod around. This stalk was awesome and one of my best enjoyment hunts every, except taking my daughter getting her first turkey. It takes skill and patience to sneak up on a deer.
  13. Go my buck today after 2 hours of army crawling for 400 yards yards across a open field.. I got a call saying there was a buck standing feeding in the middle of my farm. I left It was a 15 minute drive. My step dad was like he bedding down out there in a little spot of golden rod.So scanned and could not see him. It was a north wind, so I went to the south end of the field and started to army crawl the hay field. Made it about 200 yards in a hour or so. Still have not seen him. My phone rings saying he is standing I am told. So I finally see him standing and mowing around eating, then lays down.So I crawl another 100 yards, and finally see him laying and he has 2 does with him. So I slowly crawl another 100 yards, and now I am about 100 yards or so. He is just laying looking at Route 89.I watched him for about 30 more minutes and he never got up, then a doe stands up eats some and lays back down.So I finally think I good shot at about 90 yards and shoot, hit just to the right of him, he stands up and 2 doe start running south toward me, I hit him with my next shot right through the lungs and he dropped about 80 yards after that. He was laying 150 yards of route 89 in the middle of a open field with 2 doe's. Got checked by the DEC, as he seen me crouching out in the field well I was watching this buck waiting for a shot.
  14. OK, A guy I know posted this picture of what he seen on the opening day of Gun Seasons in 2013 in The Finger Lakes National Forest in Hector. I really don't think anyone can beat this for the weirdest thing. Some guy was walking his goats on opening day of gun season. At least he put hunter orange on them
  15. These wacko's propose something big to get this in the news. Even if they don't get there whole idea passed and only a small part of it, its a start, and they just keep going from there until they reach the big picture they started with.
  16. They are safe, I have one for my daughter, parts for this one where easy to get . Seems most of the cheap ATV you can get the part on this site https://www.eagleatvparts.com/
  17. I stopped today, and they still have permits in every area left as of 7:30 this morning. So are they just issuing that many permits, or are there less hunters.
  18. Does this one have the rubber cable with a loop on the end and slides up in the tube and a pin goes through the loop to hold it in place ? If so stay away from really smooth bark trees, I have one like that and is slipped when I was about 6 feet off the ground. It does not seem to bite into smooth park trees to well. Get a walnut tree and its great.
  19. I remember a few years ago, the state closed a parking area near Painted Post (I think), because there was a bunch of rattle snakes coming down off the hill into the parking area
  20. Pretty cool time lapse video of Timber Rattler Den. There is atleast one very large rattler in that den
  21. I bought a set last spring, when they where featured on the Today show half price deal. I paid around $65 for my. I finally broke them out to charge them. I used them this morning. I turned them on and inserted them in my boots. I only drive about 5 minutes to my hunting spot to part. On that short drive I could feel the heat. I walked to my stand and could feel the heat no problem. I got to my stand and sat down, and they stayed warm, but not as hot as when I was walking or using my feet on the gas or brake peddle. Then I stood up to look around and could really feel the heat again. So in my opinion in my first time using them, they are ok, but to really feel the heat there needs to be some pressure on the insoles. It was around 37 degrees today with a very cool breeze. One thing i did noticed though is if you already have a tight fit in your boots you may not beable to use them. The back part is pretty thick.
  22. They now make pre bent stainless steel brake line sets for these trucks. You are looking about $300 for all lines in SS. Also sometime a bad front wheel bearing will cause the ABS to kick in. I believe I even seen the S.S Brake lines for about $100 bucks on ebay. If you brake lines are going, I am sure your fuel lines are about to go. They tend to rust out in the first bend infront of the gas tank, in the second rubber mounting bracket. Just fixed mine the other day, just out the first 2 foot and repaired and with in a minute of running leaked another foot infront of the first leak, so ended up doing the next 6 feet.
  23. You can look in to hunt Cornell. They own land out near Dryden and have a hunting program !
  24. Well if you rifle hunt in Tompkins County I think you will be getting some tickets, as that is Shotgun or Muzzlerloader only.
  25. The septic needs a perk test, and then that will determine the type of system you put in.
