Got snookered into working this morning so I'm out. Drove past Little Buffalo creek on Bowen rd. 1 car parked nearby but could be park walker. Creek up a little but fishable. Good luck to all who make it out today. Wear your elbow pads for combat fishing and "keep the crap out of your hair". Looking forward to pics

I'm afraid to miss listening to the woods wake up. So alarm gets set for 3 a.m. Tim Hortons on the fly. Listening to the robins , the cardinals , wood thrush, crows and then gobbles as the sun starts to peek out. That's half the fun IMO. I'm a morning person. Love the fact my now 13 year old daughter will be dressed 2 minutes after I wake her too. Timbits make a good incentive lol

double check that. Pretty sure they moved stocking to Bowen at bridge by Como Park entrance. I may be wrong , it's happened before.

that's where I'll be headed if I go. Did they stock it on Bowen rd where the Little Buffalo and Cayuga meet again this year ? I live maybe a half mile from there. Been looking for stocking trucks but haven't seen any.

I have a Bushnell I used to use for golf. I use mine during sighting in. I don't bow hunt so never used it for that. I sit under "my turkey tree" so years back I've lasered trees but now I know the yardages. I'll take it out and flag some trees for my daughter for youth turkey season so she knows what's in range. Obviously beforehand and not rooting around the woods that morning Playing competitive golf for so many years I'm pretty accurate in guestimating yardages by eye.

They stock one of our local creeks every year and it seems it rains for multiple days in a row just before opening day. Blowing those fish out. I mean every year. 3 days of rain forecast starting tomorrow . . I may try and sneak out in the morning before the creek rises. A few for the grill. I always catch and release most everything but these fish won't and don't hold over well anyhow.

I've never soaked the chips. The only flare up I ever get is when I take a peak at how coals are doing and as soon as I cover it back up they extinguish.

I have a charcoal smoker. I'll throw on a handful right after my desired temperature is reached and maybe 2 more during a say 3-4 hour smoking session.
-
finished product. Soooo good

Speaking of Expressobuzz I'll have a coffee laden beer to keep on tending to the smoker. Wicked Weed. Can't find it around in NY. From heartburn from last to coffee buzz

Can't tend to the smoker without a beer. This is giving me heartburn however

Venison Jerky Made in the Oven
turkeyfeathers replied to AdirondackBadger's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
Oven at 190? Door ajar ? Home made recipe ? You need a jerky rack my friend I used to use toothpicks, too time consuming. Helpful hint. Put foil lined tray on bottom rack to catch drippings so wife doesn't yell when she cooks , drippings burn and smokes and sets off smoke alarm. Lol I generally will put in oven for 1.5-2.5 hours. Error on moist side as its getting eaten in day or two anyhow. No need to make it 6 months worthy as its going to disappear with my daughter around and I like to share. Looks great btw ! -
Made this before and it was great. Pounded boneless chicken breasts , dash of chicken Montreal seasoning , sliced cheddar cheese and pickled minced candied jalapeños Then wrapped in bacon.

Happy birthday !! Hope your day is filled with fun.

Wolves kill 7 percent of elk in western state Wyoming
turkeyfeathers replied to hunterman7956's topic in General Chit Chat
DEC has plans to introduce wolves to control the mountain lion population which was introduced to control the coyote. They then have Velociraptor's from Jurrasic Park #4 in line to control the wolves. From there they'll utilize Chuck Norris These are all long term plans I saw in the Enquirer I saw in line at Wegmans -
Searching for used kids size 12-14 camo clothing for daughter. I'd gladly reimburse you for shipping and throw in some of my turkey feathers venison jerky as an extra thank you. I do have a pair of kids camo boots size 2 worn about 4 times I'd be happy to send if anyone needs them. They're somewhat insulated
