I didn't read the whole thread and I know very little about making maple syrup. My buddy was telling me you can tap black walnuts too but more sap is needed to yield syrup ?! Is he pulling my leg ?
-
Just saw a red squirrel chasing grey in backyard. Give me the rest of the day to solve that problem ????

Sounds good. Try this http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/corn-dogs-recipe.html

yup , beer snob here too. We don't frequent Crapplebees often but when I do I pass on their beer and have a perfect margarita
-
Had this last night. Keeping it local as brewed in Buffalo. Resurgence Irish breakfast ale brewed with maple and coffee. Very little lacing and quite sweet. I like their imperial sponge candy stout as my favorite

you sure it wasn't a weasel in winter phase ?

Have you ever seen one ? Was just watching a grey squirrel rummaging around its nest and realized I've never seen babies scurrying around with its parents Do these things morph into full size adults during the first rain ?
-
This is mildly entertaining More so than the Human centipede which I'll never get those 2 hours of my like back from watching it

Payton Manning calling it quits today!!
turkeyfeathers replied to maytom's topic in General Chit Chat
What ?! Nobody has mentioned Jim Kelly as a great QB !! but he took us to 4 Superbowls you know -
Correct, once trapping/hunting season is over for that particular furbearer it's a no go
-
Awesome pic !!! Pretty sure it's mink mating season as well as muskrat mating season. Muskrats will start to move a lot looking for a partner so mink will be hunting them for a nice dinner. Watch in the next month or so all the road killed muskrats when during winter you won't see a one. Dang small type size ugh.

don't want to derail thread but youth hunters have to deer hunt from ground is what you're saying ? Didn't know that if that's the case

Just a heads up for anyone you may know that want to hunt spring turkeys and thinking about taking the course. I stayed up til midnight last Sunday to sign my daughter up for one of the 6 locations that were drivable to on April 16th for us. Registration started at midnight but for some reason midnight was Central time zone so I stayed up til 1 am. ( It's NYS so WTH) Signed her up and good to go. The next morning at 11 am I looked and all the locations were filled. 6 x 50spots = 300 all filled in 10 hours. I guess that's a good thing that more people are getting involved BUT bad if you hunt public land lol

here's my daughters youth 20 for turkey

Bought one for my brother for Christmas this year as where he hunts the black flies and skeeters seem to be pretty thick. I've never really had a problem with them where I go. Even after a long mile hike up my mountain and sweating up a storm Sometimes to the point my hair is soaked. I try to remember a few paper towels to wipe myself down as putting on a headnet this way sorta sucks. With headnet and gloves on though I'm pretty bug proofed. In a late morning lull the one year I went thru ALL my pockets of my vest. Turned up 3 different bug sprays lol. I never really even need to spray down. I just of course jinxed myself so be ready for a Live from the turkey woods post someday on how bad the bugs are. On a side note : make sure you spray down clothes with permithrin before hitting the turkey woods this spring. With the mild winter I'm guessing ticks maybe bad.
