  1. It’s awful for the Republican Party! Trump won’t win the election and if he loses in the primary he will run 3rd party and screw us out of any chance of winning in 24.

I liked him as a president but he’s a typical down state idiot that can’t help himself but to act like a down state idiot. That’s why he’s not our president now and why he won’t be in 24!

  2. Well yesterday was a day to remember. Cut his track around 7 he had a haram of does on the top of the mountain and every so often he’d go up and pester another. Problem was there was so many tracks up there that it made it very slow to figure out what one was his. Luckily in the 6 miles of tracking him he really never went anywhere and finally found a receptive doe. I ended up killing him at 15ft.

Looks like snow in Maine next week so I’m going to try and continue this amazing season and hopefully be home on time for a turkey dinner.

  3. Well speak up and tell us what happened.:good:

Headed north now so when I get more time I’ll get into it more but 6 of us made the 26hr 1450 mile drive each way to Ontario for a deer hunting trip. 5 out of 6 of us killed 200+ pound bucks and the sixth had plenty off chances! My first international hunt if you want to call it that but it was an absolute blast and I cannot wait to do it again!

Tracking up there is so much different because there are 50x’s the deer I’m used to seeing in the adks and At least 10x’s more than I see in Maine.

  4. Of all the deer I’ve killed with a gun I only remember 5 that were bang flops from shots in the vitals and not CNS. 2 we’re with a 270 and 3 we’re with a 223. The only common denominator is they’re both over 3,000fpsMV. I’ve said for a long time although I don’t/haven’t hunted with either of those cartridges in a long time that there could be something to that 3,000fps threshold.

  5. Not a big proponent of the "energy dump" theory...I'll take a silver dollar sized exit hole every time....That bullet will have done plenty of damage on it's way through and will leave a good hole leak if tracking is necessary..

    How’ve you been old friend?

I agree energy dump means nothing!

The recipe for DRT is a permanent or temporary disruption of CNS.

The recipe for finding the deer you kill is shoot a bullet that will exit and expand on the way through. A QUALITY monolithic or bonded gullet will do so. I don’t care if you shoot a 223 or 375h&h only shoot at angle where you know the bullet will make 2 holes and you’ll find the critter as long as you do your part.

  6.  Someone told me that if you are a landowner and you are eligible for a land owner permit that you get that permit plus you then can sign up for your regular doe permits. I didn't think this was correct. I always assumed that the land owner permit was one of the 2 doe permits you are allowed.

There is no such thing as a landowner permit. A landowner gets their first first permit in the wmu that they own the land in if there’s are doe permits issued in that wmu, it’s the same thing a disabled veteran gets. Disabled veterans preference isn’t wmu specific.

  7. The armed teacher argument always confuses me. Police have no legal obligation to protect you as has been decided by the SC but now we're considering arming teachers and giving them a one/two/three day course on how to take out a bad guy? Will we force them to act?

It shouldn’t be mandatory for them to be armed and there obviously wouldn’t be no obligation for them to act if they are but being armed should certainly be an option for them!

  8. If there was an armed teacher in that shooting does anyone think they could’ve shot and killed that kid with his body armor . The security/ex cop in buffalo didn’t/couldn’t.

Absolutely, there’s a reason why any firearms instructor worth a crap teaches shooting at the pelvic girdle. Obviously center mass is a better aim point but not always an option. Pelvic girdle is more that 2x’s bigger than a head.

  9. Agreed, but we are American's and should have the right to prepare for Armageddon any way we see fit or for whatever our own Armageddon is.
Do you think that the ranchers getting run over by illegals should have access to body armor if they so desire it?  I can't imagine the Armageddon they are dealing with at the moment....
If BLM or Antifa decided to riot in your town and are burning and luting anything and everything and you had body armor in your closet would you put it on?
What will the world look like if the dollar collapses? We are well on our way, its the major cause of inflation...
What will happen if the baby formula shortage becomes a food shortage for everyone and your neighbor wants what is in your pantry?
What is the demoralization of the Police going to look like in another 4 or 5 years. They are already underfunded and afraid to be proactive and i don't blame them. Who in their right mind wants to be a LEO with the disrespect they get these days and every single little thing scrutinized. Look at the response time for the school shooting, what is their response time going to be with the path we are headed down?
How many terrorists have we let slip through our open border? What are they planning? What if a dirty bomb goes off and we are thrown into chaos.....
Maybe we will never have to worry about any of these things, maybe we will. I hope we don't but if the past couple years have shown us anything, its that we should be prepared for anything and everything....I live 5 minutes from Saratoga. In the last 5 years, maybe a little more that beautiful little city that i frequented often has fallen off a cliff with the wokeness of the leaders. The police stand down, homeless encampments in the parking garage, BLM takeovers of the streets a couple times a year. Illegals running all over the place.  This is a tiny little tourist town in upstate NY.....If it can come here, it can be anywhere!

We were taking about Saratoga at work the other night. General consensus is the city is gone and will never come back!

I won’t even go there anymore. Last summer I was eating sushi on the balcony and after the gang activity I watched I told my then girlfriend and daughter that I will never step foot in down town Saratoga again. This from a guy that used to be downtown 1 or 2 nights a week.

  10. There’s no red flag that the guy bought two guns and a bunch of ammo at one time. Just go to any public range you’ll see guys unboxing there new weapons and blowing off a few hundred rounds very common. They didn’t say if he bought the weapons, ammo and body armor at the same time, but that’s a definite red flag. I know some will disagree but why should a civilian be aloud to buy body armor for what purpose?

I have body armor, I hope I never need it but I have it.

If they make owning it illegal when the day comes that I need it the laws won’t matter.

  11. I guess all those killing in Chicago, NY, LA and the rest of those gang kingdoms are being done by the Boy Scouts.  And I'm sure every gang killer has been caught and convicted for every killing.  Convicts always admit to everyone they killed too.  Silly me.  I guess the cops on the front lines are full of crap and don't know anything about the gangs in their area.

No one said gang members don’t murder people but your post about them having to kill to get in the gang is bullshit.

There are 22 million African American males in the us. 1 out of 3 African American males in the US are/were in a gang. That would be over 7,000,000 murders just on initiation alone. With an average of 19,000 murders a year in the US those numbers just don’t add up and proves your ignorance and that you’re talking out of your ass.

Im sure you know a guy that knew a guy who’s friend told you otherwise but those are the facts.

  12. That's how my friends son got killed.  Working in a gas station, thug comes in with a gun and demands cash.  He was given all the money in the register, stood back and shot him in the heart.  Took off in a car full of thugs.  Nobody has ever been charged six years later.  Cops told my friend this is how gangs initiate members.
The kids you deal with are hang arounds, not real gangsters.  They are not the ones that will do the real nasty gang work, until one day they are told to kill someone.

Because it happened once doesn’t mean most times, I never said it didn’t happen.

Not real ones? I work in a state prison. I forgot more about gangs last night in my sleep then you’ll ever know.

  13. I'm of mixed feelings here. I certainly keep a firearm nearby in the house in case of a case, and I'd rather be armed than not when faced with danger outside the house. But brandishing a firearm seems IMHO more likely to escalate a situation than defuse it. And you need to be willing to use it. With deadly force. I would not take a life to stop a mugging or robbery. In fact, I haven't, case in point being some teenage kid and a likely gang initiation. I ended up giving him one dollar.
I see both sides of the argument, but it's not black and white. As I suspect is true of most anything dealing with guns.

I agree, I don’t go anywhere without a gun but hope to hell I’ll never have to use it. My line was drawn before I ever started carrying, I will not draw to stop a crime that isn’t life threatening. I did this to make it black and white for myself and it’s the same thing I taught my students when I was instructing conceal carry classes.

  14. And after he got into the gang, he likely went on to bigger things and killed someone.
Most gang initiations require the kid to kill someone and give the gun to the OG, so they always have something on him if he turns into a rat.

I’m a long ways from pro gang and I will agree with the “went on to bigger things.”

But “most gang initiations require a kid to kill” is complete bullshit! I work with gangs every day I bet it’s not 1 out of 100 gang members have murdered someone.

  15. Over a period of more than 50 years, I have hunted turkeys in six states and one Canadian Province...
I have hunted private land, state land, Crown land, National Forest Land, and State Park Land....
Turkeys are turkeys wherever you hunt them...A few come easy, but you have to work for most of them, public or private..
All  I can say to the people who  claim that private land gobblers are easy, is come up to where I hunt and see how well you do  on these poor ignorant turkeys...

Anyone who claims that are ignorant and hasn’t done it. Anyone who has done it knows that!

  16. Must be nice.....I've been killing gobblers since 1975 and have shot a bunch, but never passed up a two year old in my life, unless he had a bigger one coming behind him...

I’ve let some pretty nice bucks go in my life for a variety of reasons but I don’t think I ever have or ever will let a 2yr old turkey go! If he’s got a full fan and a beard he’s plenty good enough for me!

  17. Come on Man- cool the F off.
I wrote the above as a Light post because Bored members keep this Thread going.
Pretty soon instead of 19 members logged in- we will have zero.

There’s nothing to cool off about, my reply was to how F***ed up NY is, in that the top dec official has basically zero say in our game laws.
