  1. The old lady made some venison stroganoff tonight. It was delicious even with the tough old buck steak. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. It's pretty rare for me to shoot a doe, I also would have let her walk. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I will answer with both. If I'm in private land a hang on with 5 screw in steps. I can be in a stand 18-20ft up in a couple minutes. If public land I will take my climber. Climber is heavier, louder and way more effort. Climber is more comfortable. Hang on and steps is faster, lighter, easier to find "the" tree, easier to be in good cover, quieter, I could go on and on. Hang on is not as comfortable, can use screw in steps on state land. I have bought and tried about 5 brands of climbing sticks and done like any of them. I use my climbers maybe 3 times a year and hangons over 30. My carry in hangons weigh 9lbs so with 5 steps I'm probably around 10lbs and way more compact to carry in and out. If I had to pick 1 for the rest of my life it would be a hangon! 4. uneventful evening of crow hunting. Had a couple flocks fly over but none wanted to die. Hank is getting bored. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Either my 7600 in 35whelen shooting 225gn Barnes ttsx @2725fps with a leupold vxr 1-4 or my Ruger American in 450bushmaster shooting a 270gn Barnes @ 2400fps with a leupold vx3 1-5 or my now ghost ring peep sighted with a trijicon front post Remington 760 in358 win shooting a 200gn Barnes ttsx @2500fps. 6. the pistol bullets are cheaper, same bullet and harvester sabots are better than the Barnes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. That is a great idea! I have a ton of old line! I think I will do this and tie some rags onto it and spray some of the deterrent I just picked up at TSC on the rags as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. How lucky big does it deter? I'm hesitant to put anything on the ground with season a few weeks away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I had a plot that was looking great about half an acre in a hay field. Well the deer found it in the last couple days and what was knee high is now like a putting green. I know there was a discussion about this not long ago but what can I do to keep them out of it on the cheap? I just want to give it a couple weeks to grow. Thanks in advance! 10. The 6.4 towing that boat won't get any better mileage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. At a seminar I was at many years ago as a young boy Larry Benoit stated " you have 364 days 23hrs 59 min and about 55seconds to wait for that one moment that all of us live for. How you use them will decide how the 5seconds that matter turn out." I don't think there has ever been a truer statement made about deer hunting. I shoot year round and stay in shape just so I know I am as prepared as possible for those 10 days I live for in the Adirondacks. I want my body my gear and my ability to all be in the best possible condition because I know it's a long off season dwelling on what you could/should have done and I know I will likely only get 1 shot at an old mountain buck. 12. .429 Barnes 225gn xpb. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I have shot with them and found them to be more of a hinderance than a asset. Your pin size shouldn't be an issue because you should be using the tips edge only. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I will be out "scouting." don't know what I'll be carrying but will certainly have a gun with me loaded for squirrels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. In the last 2 months I have bought 2 new semi auto shotguns one on accident and one on purpose. I bought a Benelli m2 12ga a couple weeks ago and I like it shot a couple hundred shots and its ran nearly flawless with a couple hiccups with light loads. While I was looking for a new gun I put a big on a Franchi affinity on GB and forgot about it. Well I won and now I have 2 new semi's. The Franchi is AWESOME! I payed 525$ after transfer fees less than half what I payed for the M2. It has a 26" barrel and has a reeltree camo pattern. Its been more reliable and it points better for me than the M2. I just got in from putting a case "250" trap/game loads through it without even cleaning the packing grease off it and it ran flawless. I am super impressed with this "cheap" gun. Recoil is very comparable to the M2 even without the comfort Tech stock. The camo finish is flawless. Fit and finish is equally as good as the Bennelli. We will see how well it kills crows but so far farm I am extremely happy with it. I don't know what I'm going to do with the m2 yet probably keep it as a spare. I'm putting this here because I had a very hard time finding any honest reviews on the Franchi. I will try to keep up on this as time goes on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. At home I could fill every tag we get without getting of my wheeler "if legal." There are a few stands that I hunt that I will not walk to/from I have my wife or brother drop me off and pick me up on the wheeler because it just doesn't bother them but if I was walking out across the field they would all bust. Other than that I walk not because I couldn't kill everyone of my deer with a wheeler at the bottom of my stand but because I like walking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Blonde yotes look very cool! This big male came in about 30seconds into a set and I didn't shoot him at first because I thought someone's golden retriever had came into the call. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Jesus, what a story! A deer is an amazing animal! A few years ago my old man shot a 3yr old 4pt with the bow and it was a very long tracking job and I was the first to find him. Dad was probably 20 yds behind me and he was laying in a bush. I grabbed a hold of his rack and he came back to life standing up on his hind legs with me hanging on for "deer" life. I was able to throw him on the ground backwards and he didn't have anything left in the tank so after another shot he was gone shortly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Beautiful piece of history! Glad to see it still perforating critters just as it should be! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Does the "meet you for sure" include dragging? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I'll be totally honest other than setting cam lean with a laser I have never had a "pro" tune my bow what codes a pro Do to tune one? Paper, walk back, broadhead? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Nice bear! And he did it with a savage model 99! One of the best firearms of years past. And idea what chambering? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Cash on one and owner financed the other "short term loan." It can be very tough getting financing on vacant land. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Getting in better physical condition! I got fat after getting out of the service and it really hurt my hunting. Bucks I killed the last 2 years would have been safe from the fat me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
