  1. Yup mine will be postmarked for the last possible day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Under 3 or 4" barrel I'm ok with but absolutely no need for a caliber restricting, if it's a 22 or a 500S&W if it has a short barrel very few people are going to shoot it well enough to want to use it over a bow. Honestly I don't care if the law changes or not. I'm not going in the woods without a firearm, if I have to use that firearm on a critter with 4 legs the odds of anyone else knowing about it are very very slim, if I have to use it on a critter with 2 legs I have way bigger worries than my hunting license. 3. Same thing I do every year wait until late October. I don't use stands or use cameras up at camp. I was up there last week and drank a bunch of beer and did a little work on camp. We started to build our new "meat pole" because my buck last year destroyed our old one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I am licensed to own and carry pistol in NY. I can shoot my bow way better than any pistol I carry concealed. If I'm outside of my house I have a pistol on me. If I need to use it I have way bigger issues than worrying about my hunting license. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Once a month to every other until last week of September when they are all pulled until after season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Post of the year! You could change out a few words and this same post would be spot on for many other topics today. Everything is changing most not for the better. Shoot what makes you happy as long as it's legal, don't worry about the guy next door shooting next years trophy or too many does etc. To the original question I shoot big bucks only because it's what gets me excited. I ride a 1000cc sport bike that will do any speed limit in 1st gear because it makes me excited. Thankfully we live in a mostly free country and are allowed to do what we want for the most part. Is it October yet I think we are all getting a little stir crazy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. It's July, you have 3 more months until you need the gun. 10$ a week set aside plus you 100$ and you have a ton of options and are getting a WAY better scope in the 175-200$ range. My suggestion is a leupold Vx-1 or redfield both have life time warranties. Even in that price range I wouldn't go higher than 7X, cheap glass and high magnification is a recipe for disappointment! 8. What if your style of hunting isn't to sit and wait but to go after find follow and kill. Is that still luck? I can promise you that hunting the big woods there are thousands of guys every year that hope to get lucky and kill a deer yet a very high percentage go buckless for the year. Yet a very select few year after year shoot mature big woods bucks. Is this because they are more lucky?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Not always, weighed 225 maybe gross 120. I let him go 2 days before I killed him because I didn't have enough time to study him and I hadn't seen his track yet to see how big he really was. A "trophy" is in the eye of the beholder. He didn't get mounted because I have bigger already on the wall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. By the time they hear the safety it's way too late! Looks like a shooter for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Where are you at? Good chance someone on here isn't far from you and most all of us are willing to lend a hand. Eddie beat me to it, disregard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. That's a great name for that idiot! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Believe it or not...I actually read most the post above mine...Your a bit too concerned with THINKING all I respond to is your posts alone....might want to rethink that You literally quoted me? Good try tho. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Well I get an antlerless and an either sex tag so I could shoot a doe or two if I wanted to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I have never belittled someone for harvesting a doe. I grew up in an area where we have never had dmp's. I have shot a few doe in my hunting career and I get zero enjoyment out of it. Maybe if where I hunted where was a need to kill does I would feel different. I hunt for the enjoyment of spending time in the woods and killing big bucks. I don't need the meat although I eat or give away every deer I kill. If I needed meat I could butcher another one of our angus beef we raise. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Hahahaha......WOW that ship sailed and docked on another hemisphere years ago......Hey but thanks for asking Now I apparently didn't slow it down enough: So think about that statement...if they don't give out doe permits in certain areas then they would more then likely not require one for a buck in those areas...So you can say then how could you prove where it was taken? I suppose check stations for those areas could happen or requiring the buck be checked in like doe would need to be...harder to lie in person...Deer hunting in general is on the honor system ...big eye roll for that I've learned from sites, but it is what it is. Than how is me saying I won't shoot a doe an advertisement for earn a buck when 3 of the 4 wmu's that I have a lease or own land in don't give out DMP's. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. That will work great, especially in areas where there are no DMP's. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I'm with you unless she was wounded I'll likely go the rest of my hunting career never shooting another doe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. So only humans can have an abortion? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. A fetus in a womb is a fetus in a womb no matter what kind of critter its in the belly of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Given that fawns only have a roughly 60% chance of making it 6 mos the fawn you killed has already beaten the odds as to what might have become of the fawn"s" in the womb. It's the old bird in the hand adage. Being very pro choice it would be hypocritical of me to tell anyone not to shoot does that may be bred but I won't shoot a doe after nov 1. Then again I rarely shoot does. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. An important question has yet to be asked, are you living at this location if not how far away do you live? If you aren't local and only plan on being there for the occasional weekend these neighbors might turn out to be an asset for keeping an eye on the place. The lease We have in the Catskills we let our neighbor hunt and he kills the first legal buck he sees and is done for the year. But he lives next to the property and keeps an eye on the place. You're only talking 11 acres. It's not like you will be able to keep deer on that small of a chunk anyways. If the neighbors know you'll only be there on the weekends they will be on it anyways. 23. So sorry for your loss! Way to young! Keep your head up. Time and great memories will help ease the pain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
