Well I always guess small and I was way off on this one, he weighs 226lb my 2nd heaviest buck. I couldn't be happier with my season! Hurry up next year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Shot him in his bed at 7:15 found him at 8:15 had to finish him off. 17.5" wide haven't weighed him yet but I'm guessing 185lbs. Started dragging at 8:30 just now made it out to road at 4:55, absolutely the most brutal drag of my life! Can't wait to get him hung and see what he weighs and start drinking beers! My waterproof boots...aren't.
Buckmaster7600 replied to Core's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
About everyone I know that still hunts/tracks wears rubber boots and mostly lacrosse. They have a soft sole so you can feel twigs, are water proof, fit tight around the ankle and are comparatively light weight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Packing out vs. dragging plus transporting
Buckmaster7600 replied to uberyan's topic in Deer Hunting
Hanging is up to you, I do others don't. Car ride should be fine. I don't know if you have done this before but I highly recommend you bring some plastic or something to set the meat on away from the hide. My father carries one of those 1$ ponchos and cuts them open to make bigger they work great I use a piece of house wrap because it's also my emergency shelter. are you carrying a frame pack or are you going to make a couple trips? I have done it both ways and I have also boned out all the meat in the field and carried the garbage bag of meat in the pouch of my upland vest and by far that was the best. Pack frames are awesome after you kill a deer but sick to hunt with on. How far in are you planning on going? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Your system seems to work, I have something very similar but instead of a pulley system I have 3" caster wheels mounted to the front of the plywood, and 2 grab loops at both corners on the other end. It works great. Only have to lift half the weight of the deer and the big caster wheels go right over the tailgate crack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I will be high on a mountain in the Adirondacks. Away from anyone wearing orange. With no fear at all if anyone coming in and messing up my hunt, no fear of anyone being in one of my stands and no fear of anyone being 75yds from me. I'll hunt southern zone during the week when I don't have to deal with the masses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sounds like it was a successful trip for sure, what was your take on the rut up there? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If your bow isn't perfectly paper tuned the #$%# ton of energy you have is not transferred to the broadhead. It is even made worse by fast bows and large heads. KI of an arrow is measured as a best case scenario, if you're arrow is flying true all that energy is going to whip your arrow to the side upon impact. As I said earlier I do not think the head failed. I would love to see the paper after you shoot through it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't like this topic, posting pics of wounded deer doesn't seem conducive to our goals. It's a reality that we all know too well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you hunt differently on public land?
Buckmaster7600 replied to 10point's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
I hunt the same, run and gun. I don't hunt public land that has much pressure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
A little longer than a half hr but not much, the best part was I saw a buck from everyone of them today. Good luck on catching the trespassers but then again hopefully you don't see them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You're talking about a state that considers a Xbow a muzzleloader, thinks gangsters will only load 7 rounds in their guns and thinks that although a handgun owner is responsible enough to carry a handgun in public isn't responsible enough to carry one in the woods during bow/muz season. It is never safe to use common sense or assume when talking NY LAWS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Shotgun Barrel Question

It's sad when people are to ignorant to even attempt to help them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Is there really such thing as a brush caliber?
Buckmaster7600 replied to 10point's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
I would say 39 is your best bet, only because all others have been tried and failed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Shotgun Barrel Question

Let's hope he doesn't get lucky and see one for the deers sake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
My great grandfather was the local "butcher" and his refer room was always set at 50 deg. He would never cut up a beefer until it hung for at least 3 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Shotgun Barrel Question
Buckmaster7600 replied to DirtTime's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
You don't have a muzzleloader? A smooth bore with a bead has killed a lot of deer but if muzzleloader's were what they are now I don't think hardly anyone would have used one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I am in my 4th stand of the day, I think I will be here until dark. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have literally killed truck loads of deer with 223. With the proper bullet a 30-06 or a 338win mag will not kill a deer any deader than a 223 will within normal hunting ranges with the same shot placement. A 223 has more than double the energy that my 10mm has at the muzzle and I have used my 10mm almost exclusively for deer for the past 2 years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Does anyone miss the Monday opener?
Buckmaster7600 replied to The_Real_TCIII's topic in Deer Hunting
I hate Saturday opener! I'm sure many small business's do as well. Little towns used to be all a buzz Saturday and Sunday. It had never made any sense to me why they changed it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
It's done it's over, he actually was on the land I have permission to hunt just no where near where I told him to be, oh well. He made a good shot and he was happy so I guess that's good, he burnt a bridge he will come to regret, I work my ass off and have thousands of acres of private land to hunt I tried to be nice and bring him along he shot a buck 5 minutes after legal shooting. His loss not mine, I have showed him pics of all the nice ones I have let go and he chose to shoot the little bugger. His loss, at least we found it and it's not wounded. Now I'm going back hunting because on the way out I saw the big boy I've been after in a field I have permission to hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
