Scope mounts on reciever. ..and no I will have to try those. I never thought about that only reason I ever shot 3 in federal is seamed like they were always out of 2 3/4....thanks

Very cool I'm heading up to the ADKs this weekend would be cool to see one live

I have a hard time finding Brenneke buddy from up north swears by them....my gun seems to really like sst and federal fusion 3 in shoot nicely too just not as good past 100

The lightfields are a great round mine just don't like them much....that originally what I tried few years back took deer with them but couldn't get the groupings out at 100 like I can with the sst...i agree the sst do not expand as well as others out there but make up for it in accuracy outta my set up.

If you don't mind me asking what wmu is that?

They do their job....only ever lost one and that was last year on state land that went to private land after 100 yards. ..bad shot on my part too pulled it bad think caught back end

Just got done getting new scope on mossberg 500 rifled barrel for the upcoming season. I had scope on it last year just a 4x upgraded to a 2x7 this year. I'm running the Hornady sst 300 grain 12 gauge slugs. Shooting nice 5 shot groups about 3 in high at 100. Puts my 0 at 150 pretty impressed for a slug. Don't have a 150 yard range so hopefully get to one within a few weeks to double check zero. But feel completely comfortable 0-150. Just figured I'd post my luck with them for shotgun guys like myself.

The ny compliant ones are good....stag arms makes one too and there are bolt on options for prexisting ones too...I've shot the stag arms and they are shooters for sure but not my thing...some guys live them some guys hate them they feel very different than your standard ar

We have all lost deer it's not a good feeling but nothing to give up about. Stuff happens and all we can do practice and the rest is luck. good luck with the rest of your season with your decision...

Well I head up Friday night for a weekend hunt in ADKs as I go every year for last few years....any tips for how the hunting has been up there or items I should pack....feel free to include obvious ones as I may forget. working on sighting in my 12 gauge ad I bought a new scope for it at cabelas few weeks back...got a good start today hopefully fine tune tomorrow and shoot again Thursday just to double check....I'm shooting a mossberg 500 rifled barrel with the Hornady sst in 2 3/4 zero at 100 yards with a 3-7 scope....expensive to sight in lol...can't wait to hit the big woods!

October 19....above 2 posts same day....sat till 930 over the scrape and rubs didn't see anything....took a nice slow walk down logging road saw about 20 deer so stopped for a bit and sit. Had a doe come in at about 30 yards but I was on ground and she pinned me quickly so couldn't get a shot...did have what I assume was a buck running back and forth in woods just outta sight when I got bored and rattled a lil bit..he was snorting and crashing thru the brush back and forth for better part of half hour but wouldn't ever show himself...was kinda cool knowing that they are starting to get excited. ....this will be my last hunt down here for a week or 2 most likely as I will be prepping to head to ADKs next weekend for a Friday thru monday hunt. I go every year but have yet to see or kill anything....but it's worth it to just be out in the big woods....

Steps, Sticks, Rails. What Do You Like And Why??
stoneam2006 replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Deer Hunting
For hang ons I like screw in steps also seems you can get them in the right spots to get in and out and can put a extra one in if needed.....and my old man always takes the bottom 3 out so it can't be used unless unknowns have them... -
I honestly thought about that too...be nice to have one if needed....I'm gonna try some walks In woods see how thay goes bc he's never been out there....
