Excellent thread! I haven't been out nearly as much as I would have liked this year because I had a lot of other stuff going on. But I was fortunate enough to take three pheasants so far and I got my first quail today. I moved to NJ recently and they have two wma opened for quail. We put up 4 birds. 1 was bumped. I missed clean on one that was low flying through some trees. And went 1/2 on a pair that we put up. What a great time. Rabbit hunting is a blast. If i had to choose id say rabbit hunting has to be the most fun and exciting in my opinion. The action is awesome. (The skinned bird is the quail)

I'm cooking pheasant one day next week for my cousin who has never had it. I was thinking about doing something with a mushroom and cream sauce. And maybe putting it with pasta. Any of you guys had anything you would recommend? I know pheasant isn't that exotic but for somebody who doesn't eat wild game it's a start LOL

I only predator hunted a handful of times. Bought a middle of the road e-caller last year. Anyway. When ur hunting over a bait pile do you just sit and wait at dusk? After dark? Is there anything else to it besides just sitting and waiting? Do you call at all?

I agree with you. I guess my point is that when you see nobody's taking action, then you need to step in and take action. Here's what I don't get. Everybody keeps talking about how come the police weren't called or notified. The bigger question is is how come salmon didn't call the police himself? You were standing right there the whole time and if you thought it was a safety issue why didn't you call the police? You were able to make a post about it on the hunting forum but if you were so concerned about safety why weren't you on the phone with the police immediately? Clearly you think Dick's Sporting Goods failed in their handling of the situation.

Nice. Do you have a curing fridge? Or something that regulates temperature and humidity? The prosciutto is not smoked. just needs to be salted. Then air dried. I think I followed a recipe of Field & Stream if I recall correctly. It's beginners level charcuterie. Keep this thread alive with the process. I've always been interested in curing meats.

Best would be rabbit or venison loins worst was bear meat i had once. It tasted like a pine tree air freshener. Idk what the hell was going on with it lol.
