  1. Again just to show how easy food plots can be. In first pic i sprayed this fallow field with GLY and about 11 days later before a decent rain I broadcast a brassica blend, 4 different clovers, chicory and alfalfa into short and thin standing RR soybeans. And let the rain do the rest. Early September broadcast WW @150lbs per acre into the plot. Didn't roll or anything. I like this messy plot. 2nd pic: I took 1/3 of an acre of my yard at camp and sprayed it with GLY. About 3 days later before a light rain, I broadcast Triticale @100lbs per acre and a big Clover blend of reds and whites as well and let the rain do the rest. Dead thatch keeps moisture in, in very dry conditions like we had in the Southern-tier after Early July and helps growing conditions greatly. No soil broken again this year. 3rd pic is a hybrid sorghum i planted for screening/bedding all around a plot behind my barn at camp to promote daylight activity. Between the screen and the abundance of apples, there is a ton of daylight activity here this year! Its on slightly poor soil and still broke 10' tall 4th pic is of most of the crab apple trees growth after one year.. Doing well!
  2. IT is funny cause i have a lot of winterWheat planted into my plots to fill the bare and thin spots and the deer havent even touched it yet. Have eaten all the brassicas out of it and hitting the clovers well. The WW hopefully will get hit with colder weather.. otherwise it will just be my termination crop for spring.
  3. I used to shoot Monetc, they are re usable, they just need to be cleaned and sharpened. Otherwise a very reliable and durable fixed blade, in fact its my favorite fixed blade head. Ive shot rage for a decade now and ill inspect the BH before re using it. Either replace the blades if bent or dull, or if in worse shape, just toss the head in the garbage. I have re sharpened rage blades at work on the surface grinders before or hand sharpened as well
  4. When I had my landscape business, this time of year most people were pushed back to every 2 weeks. Mainly for leaves. But grass will grown through november with right conditions.
  5. I agree. Owned 3 over 15 years now and all junk. I did consider getting a cheaper cam for security purposes or in high risk locations though.
  6. Ive heard it works well! Never tried it yet though. If i remember and heard correctly, if you use it and still do not have any luck with recovering the animal. That a tracking dog will have a very hard time with the scents. Or even decline your call if the peroxide was used.. Damn memory.. lol
  7. Its not always the "Glow" or the "light" of the cameras "flash" that they see. It could be the actual camera its self, that they dont like. If it sticks out like a sore thumb it can catch any eye that walks near it. Camouflage it a little bit and try it on a new tree a little ways away or a new spot. Its a sense of security to some(not all) deer, just like us. If some stranger puts something in your living room that looks weird or out of place. We wouldn't be comfortable with it either. Id just brush it in some or hang it higher on a new tree. If you have that buck in the area regularly, he will be back, just maybe not in that exact same spot he is here..
  8. You'll love it. Between ease of setup and the quality of them cam all around. I bought 2 new dark ops this year, great cams. Bought them for the Black Flash, but i think i like the picture clarity in the Strike Force.
  9. So sorry to hear this. Hope everyone heals safely from this loss, you are all in our thoughts and prayers. May he hunt on, only in higher places.
  10. Yes, not sure of his price, but I would guess the price range is around 130$ somewhere, give or take a few.. I haven't bought a Strike Force from him since last year... I picked up the Dark ops this year to try it is slightly more in price. Strike force cams are amazing, especially for the price. Ive owned most cams, and Browning are by far my preferred cam of choice.
  11. And then stock with fish! we did with ours. Kind of almost the same shape and slope as yours.
  12. Nice picture! These are hit or miss. Have owned a half dozen, some lasted a couple years, some lasted a couple months. Some had great range some had horrible range. For the price of 98$ i'd go with something else..
  13. Check with Phade for the Browning Strike Force.. Best cam for the buck on the market. I have several and all are bullet proof and have taken thousands and thousands of pictures. With literally ZERO flaws.
  14. I dont mind wearing one but, twice now with my jacket when I lean back against the tree. It pops open the pin and have lost the back tag. Then had to go and replace it.. Happened one night I shot a doe. Hard to retrace tracks in the dark on dry ground!
  15. How do you plan on getting that pond filled? is rain water going to be enough, and will it hold? Sorry if these questions were already asked. Looks awesome.
  16. Same here. 99% of the time I dont hunt mine, Ill let my wife and kids. I just run cameras and watch them feast in it. And the feeling is awesome seeing them do what you wanted and intended them to do with all your efforts.
  17. Pretty good. lol Guess I didnt save the hawks and tweeties that set them off this year
  18. Completely! My terminology sucks as you can see. I used forward oening years ago, lost one deer to what i believe a very good, penetration sucked and no blood or deer was discovered"(yes i was like 17 yrs). IMO Rear deploying is best for a mechanical head and a 1 piece construction for a coc solid head. cant beat either. Like a 3 blade montec g5 or something of the sort, or a nice sharp 2 blade head.
  19. I just watched a video last night about properly setting the shock collars on these broadheads, since they went away from rubber O ring style.. Found out I've been aligning the shock collars with the blades the wrong way but I've never had one fail. I always lined the slits in the collars with the blades so they opened easier, and they always opened, never an issue and they never pre opened inside a quiver. I guess your supposed to line blades up (where its solid plastic) between the 2 slits in the Shock collars. Damn directions lol ... So just read the directions quick on the proper collar alignment. If i am going to use a mechanical broad head, it has to be a slip cam style. Cut on contact tip, slices on entry and exit.. Like a rage Hypo... Not one that relies on deer hide to open blades and rotate them around so they can cut.. I dont like that philosophy at all... JMO
  20. I have 2 bucks on our properties that are both 8.5yrs old. Through history with them, I can garuntee 100% the age of one of the bucks at 8.5yrs, the other is 8.5 +- a year.. i dont have the saved picture history with him like i do the other. Only back to year 2012.. Would be nice to see their Jawbones if I or a "good" neighbor harvests one of them..
  21. In the 4.5 and 3.5 pics, the 5th tooth looks the exact same to me. hence the reason i went with 3.5. To me in this picture, the dentine doesnt look any wider than the enamel on tooth 5
  22. Ive used Rage since they came out, Have not lost a deer and some were not the best of hits either. Ive blown through both shoulder blades as well. I have a pass through nearly every single time, unless striking bone. I do not take front facing shots so i will not comment on that. But 2 years ago I hit a spine accidentally with the Hypos, pulled out the BH and it was in perfect shape still, sent it through a 200lb buck 2 weeks later. I use the Hypos, and love them! Idk why but im not a fan of chisel tip broadheads. I like razor sharp tips like the hypos. I feel the chisel tips are too blunt shaped without "real cutting edges at the tip" even if they have a decent point. I used original 2 blades and now the hypos for years. Love them.
  23. Im really not a fan of ladder stands either. I prefer the hang-ons all the way, or my climber(just sucks making noise while climbing). But im slowly transitioning my hang ons for Ladders since i have my wife and kids beginning to hunt. Just to stay on the safe side. I dont want them to be a monkey like i was getting into some of my stands from my younger days.
