brush hogged and sprayed...Now what?
LET EM GROW replied to Buck_IT's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Peas are hard to get to germinate without tilling.. unless your soil has moisture, and you can lay some vegetation over the top of seed with your roller/packer. Other wise the germ% drops significantly. Unless a ton of rain comes through afterwards, that eventually buries the seed some for you.. . The hardest parts about going no till in these new places that have never broken soil before, is just that.. soil is firm. A first year no till plot of a Grain like wheat or rye and a radish is usually ideal to bust up the hard soils some, since all 3 germ pretty easily, and the grain would be your "cover/lay over crop" for the next planting. -
Rage Hypodermic or G5 Montec are my go to heads. If i ever got a hair to try new... Id go with 2 blade coc fixed head like magnus

This is a sightmark, and even the youtube /late night vision show reviews claim it does 200 yrds. also another member here has one, whom i will compare reviews with once season begins. I plan to test it this week, day and night. Either Way, I do plan to upgrade at some point. when funds are slightly more plentiful -

Got the official optic on it this past weekend, after a 2 month wait. Love it. Now time to find range time lol.. -
On what percentage of your hit deer do you achieve complete pass through?
LET EM GROW replied to Core's topic in Bow Hunting
As long as I avoid the first and or off shoulder or the spine.. pass through every time typically. I have sent a rage through both shoulder blades of a couple doe.. but i dont expect that ever. My rage heads on a 395gr total weight shaft will bury in the ground on a double lung behind the shoulder nearly every time. -
I live in Burns. I could get a number for you. I just don't have it on hand.

Its that time of year where patterns begin to change.. buck pics normally drop off unless you got em stashed on your land lol. As for scent free, i dont spray anything but do my best to not smell like anything "special" lol

Irish spring soap works well.I use it on my beans when they're young

Awesome Dave! I Haven't met Wooly/Matt yet either. But it would be great one day to make that happen.. He's a darn good man. You can clearly see that through conversation! As always Matt, Keep doing what you do! It does not go unnoticed!

Late to to the party, but if your beans are still growing and not devoured yet, id just do a triplre 15 at most sine you have beans..But i wouldnt fertilize it at all.. Thats one benefit of having beans, if they make it thru the first few stages of growth.. theyll help your brassicas with the N.. If beans get hammered id wait a couple weeks and hit it with nitrogen(urea) but your plot looks plenty good sir.. I would not worry about any Fertilizer... you still have 1-1.5 months of growing to do..

Plentiful in my travels and at my property. Even with the abundance of predators around. Have 2 seperate does with triplet fawns too.
-
Havent seen any poults around our property yet. But a neighbor has seen 1 group. Kinda crappy. Ive got a group of 6 hens that wander.. zero poults from any of them. 3 years in a row now. I think i need to get heavy on the predator hunting this year.

Whats your plans with this plot for next spring? If you wanna build up your top soils here, Next spring right before the RYE matures, roll it over a few times with a lawn roller or atv tires. Rye is high in carbon and will create a great duff that will slowly break down into your soil creating a nice composted soil. Seed clovers now and Frost seed in march and you'll have a beauty of a plot. You can still just roll the plot to terminate the rye as well. Just a thought if you were interested.

Since losing my dad, my best friend and hunting companion in 2016.. 95% of my deer and turkey hunts are solo. It sucks, Would much rather hunt with someone else.. makes it fun regardless. My wife gets out on a very rare occassion and i absolutely love it. But Im slowly losing my ambition to deer hunt because of the solo-ness, but getting more into predator hunting instead
-
I figured you done it right! just had to make sure.. I learned that lesson the hard way as a young teen when i thought I could build anything! Well i did, just not the right way at times lol

This Culver guys seems like a pretty decent guy huh?? Lol. Good deal guys. Looks fun. Hopefully it doesnt shift side to side on you.
