  1. Nope fought for about five seconds but the squirrel got away. Pretty cool though
  2. No deer yet. But just watched a hawk dive bomb a squirrel five yards in front of me
  3. Just saw the two biggest body deer I've ever seen. Six deer running around in the bottom field 150 yards. Buck was chasing grunting at all of them. Too far to see the antlers
  4. Decided to give Bob kirschners doe pee a try. Think it was deerpassion that suggested it. Thanks! Been in the stand fifteen minutes. And already had a spike follow the drag. Tonight might be the night!
  5. Deerpassion. What kind of scent are you using? Never knew it was effective this early
  6. Good luck guys. Beautiful morning here in Randolph. Hopefully we can get some movement here today. Gonna try my hand at filming!
  7. So I finally got the opportunity to clear out a spot in the woods, and build a tiny food plot (2 weeks ago). Planted mostly oats, figuring i'd have a shot at them being around in time for bow season. It's growing in, but for what it is, I couldn't believe the traffic it's getting. I had my trail cam up for just four days, and have plenty of buck pics. They're like clockwork, right around 6:30, hopefully they still are when thursday comes around! Here's a couple pics. Should've bought a nicer trail cam!
  8. Yes I believe that is the prevailing wind. I like F and that's actually where I shot my doe last year. I knew deer would pop up directly across the field towards the creek and walk straight to me. I'm guessing it will be different this year with the corn. It seems like the hardest spot to get to quietly so I didn't like hunting it much.
  9. Phade, this is all I could do with what I have. Not sure if it's enough. Wish they had the difference in elevation numbered. But the top of the hill is on the south of the map. Thanks
  10. Thank you guys. The area above F is tall grass, I went yesterday scouting after I got out of work at 6. I know a little late, but i saw a doe just calmly walking between the hedgerow and into the north cornfield. I also went up to F and saw 2 doe take off. It was nice to see them moving a few hours before sunset. I'll be walking that creek tomorrow. The creek has a decent ravine. But there's also a snowmobile bridge going over it. But I think the boards are too spaced out for deer to walk over it comfortably. I've talked to the land owner and he has said they neighbors would be fine with me going to retrieve a deer on their property, just give them a call before I go over there. I forgot to mention which I think will be a nice hotspot for traveling. The new picture I posted, there is a flat trail for the tractor to go field to field I highlighted in green. I set up a trail cam there yesterday. Good spot for a blind?
  11. Phade! Thanks so much. Me being newer to hunting, I never realized how much potential this property has. I cant wait till im out there with my bow now. I have alot of scouting to do, and definitely picking up some extra trail cams. I'll be out Friday walking that creek. You have no idea how much I appreciate you taking the time to write that up. Maybe you'll be getting some venison in the mail this October! haha
  12. Thank you Rob! I did a little scouting. That area you circled on the right is where the deer are bedding, right next to the corn. I'll be purchasing a few trail cams and scouting more. Gonna go today and check the one cam I have set up basically on your South circle. I appreciate everyones input!
  13. Thanks guys! I should've mentioned in the post, that hedgerow is a big ditch about 10 ft deep, not a tree to hang a stand on in there.
  14. Hello, second year to bow hunting, and I have a ton to learn. I was just wondering where you guys think would be the best spot to set up a stand for bow hunting. I uploaded a picture. The red is the land I'm allowed to hunt on. Yellow is where the cows are fenced in. Purple is where corn is planted (first year). And the blue is a creek that goes through the land. I'm one of just a few that hunt here. And the other guys hunt there maybe twice a season. I just set out a trail cam a few days ago, and will check it this weekend. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  15. Thanks for the story guys! I just hope they don't pick of too many deer before October!
  16. It's a rural area, there are a few homes in the area though. I know it wasn't a dog, sure I'll see the little guy on trail cam when I go back to check it.
  17. So I decided to go put up my first trail cam of the year today, I had a few extra minutes before my sons soccer practice. I was a little rushed so I didn't grab my pistol like I normally do before going in the woods. Get to a nice trail with lots of deer foot prints and set up my cam in a perfect spot. The land owner decided to plant corn this year, so I decided to walk the edge of the cornfield. As I'm walking I find where the deer have been bedding, then I look up and see a coyote staring at me no more than fifteen feet away. At first I'm a little startled, so I pick up a decent sized rock just in case. But I thought for sure he would run away. he just stared and started breathing hard like he was getting ready to make a move. I walked away slowly and made it back to my car. Just wondering, has anyone else been in a situation like this? Ive seen coyotes plenty of times, but they usually take off when they see me. Also, anyone have any trailcam pics of some nice bucks yet!?
  18. I wouldn't get the DEC involved, as it may get the owner mad that you didn't go to him first. I would tell him about it, and leave it up to him. But also I believe you're just as much as at fault if you hunt near the corn pile. I know you didn't put it there, but it's there, and it's gonna bring them in near your stand. Just my opinion, but i'd wait to hunt there until that pile is gone.
  19. Windy as all heck today in 9r. Saw a huge doe in this spot last night. Only had my either sex bow tag. Didn't wanna use it this early. Went today and got my antlerless bow/muzzle tag. Hope she comes back again today!
  20. That's what I did last night. Got in about 530. Went in super quiet. Went out with a doe.
  21. Got my first deer with a bow last night. A doe, smaller then I would've liked but it kept circling me. So I decided to shoot. Now it's buck time. Saw a deer within five minutes of being in my stand. Too far to tell what it was. Good luck to all!
  22. Great buck! I'd be happy with one half that size! Just wondering how deep in the woods were you?
  23. Hi guys. New to the forum. great reads though! Hopefully I'll be posting a picture of a deer down this morning. Already got winded at about 7. didn't get to see what it was. Just heard it. Good luck to everyone!
