  1. HUGE congrats to Jay's daughter! Glad she drooped a nice one and things will only get better for her!
  2. TRUE STORY! Last Sunday while hunting a local public land spot I had a very unusual experience! I got there, loaded the mag for my rifle, and headed up the mountain. I got to the first shelf and loaded the .26-06. I did mu usual loop around an area that is sometimes used by deer as a bedding area. Then, instead of taking my usual route up the mountain, I decided to hike the logging road. I get about 100 yds, and I hear this low growling noise. At first I thought ATV? Too low. So I watched and waited. Then, there it was! A sight I will never forget! There was a guy that came up the first part of the access road on ..... A LAWN TRACTOR! Blaze orange from head to toe! I stood shocked for a few seconds, then I laughed to myself and waved to him. He stared at me for a second and then putted off. Must have been a bigfoot in hunter guise! As he was in a "No Motor Vehicles" area. No man or woman would ever break the laws of hunting public land! So must have been something 'super-natural'. I had no fear, I traversed up and down the mountain and even sat for a spell. I did learn a valuable lesson though, a basic lawn tractor can make it through some pretty diverse terrain.
  3. I plan to be out. Only have a few hours in the AM, as I have to help get dinner ready as well. I said I wasn't taking a spike this year, but if the bugger shows again tomorrow, he will be introduced to my Howa on a personal level. He's been teasing me all season, and my restraint is wearing thin. Good luck to those hunting public land tomorrow. Should be a circus, so be safe and let that hunter orange be seen!
  4. Gonna sit still for a bit. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  5. Going to get gear on and see if I can find a parking spot on the state land. Windy but hoping everyone stayed home. Want to try some still hunting. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  6. If I owned land and slime balls were cutting trees and the cables I use to keep my cams on trees, I would be seriously ticked off! BUT, I would still take pics of the cut trees and cables for evidence. I would be bringing the authorities into this crap. It sucks when these crud buckets do this, but you should be trying to catch them. "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!". Get proactive on trying to catch them.
  7. Savage Axis XP Stainless in .25-06. Why? Because I picked this over my 7mm-08 for tomorrow.

  9. There's a rifle in the pic? Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  10. IIRC, you can get paintball claymores. If not try this. This was classic!
  11. Just a thought. Original report said they were in Target Sports for two hours. Long time to be in there IMO. Guess the alarm system in that store isn't so great, again JMO. That, and wasn't Target shut down for a awhile a fews years back for something? As for links: https://dailygazette.com/article/2017/10/23/police-about-40-firearms-stolen-from-glenville-gun-store https://dailygazette.com/article/2017/10/29/colonie-gun-shop-burglary-2nd-in-region-in-week Just seems really odd two gun stores in the same basic area robbed in 8 days. You can always put me on Ignore if you don't want to read my posts. Simple enough.
  12. So, at times I sit idle and see who reacts to things on here in the general news. So, I didn't bother bringing up a week ago Sundays robbery of Target Sports in Glenville, resulting in 40 guns being stolen. I figured someone would have a thought, but nope. Then, I see on the news this morning, that NY Shooter Supply was robbed and 5 hand guns were taken. So, I have a slight concern, in 8 days, at least 45 guns were stolen from two separate stores. IMO, that's 45 guns going into the hands of criminals on the street. Or, maybe something worse, or maybe insurance fraud? I do not now, or ever have, put tinfoil on my head. But, this seems a bit odd.
  13. Please remove that like. You just don't get it do you? You are welcome for bringing your skewed attention to a fact you failed to see or acknowledge. You should have said condolences from the get go! You did not! So what does that honestly say about you? I also want to add, if you really wanted to make an impact like you stated in your original post, you would be hunting with a vert bow. Just sayin'!
  14. My condolences to the family of deceased teen. I tried really hard not to get involved in this one...But.... wolc123, I haven't seen you one post any condolences, thoughts, or prayers to the family involved in this! You just came out spouting off promoting your "If it's brown it's down" mentality. This was a sad and pathetic way to just reignite the debate of what deer to kill. God is NOT on your side with one troll!
  15. Guess that "Magic Mathews" isn't so magical after all. Trade up to an Elite or BowTech next year and you will tag out on 10/1. Just kidding. I honestly thought you would have a dead buck by now Biz. You'll arrow one soon.
  16. I don't need more, but man, it sure seems like it's the same WMU's that get the leftovers every year. Couple downstate, and the rest are mainly CNY and WNY.
  17. Well, I am still going to call BS on this one. If you go on YouTube, and type "Hunting" you will still get thousands of hunting videos, and they even have "kill-Shots". Bill, no worries, your video is still up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_aJLU0Htfo TACC, you have shown no 'Proof' that "YouTube" is getting rid of hunting vids. There is no ban on the "Bump Stock" vids either! Still tons more videos on them. Perhaps instead of listening to "The Word On The Street", you should look up factual information. In the words of Trump, "FAKE NEWS!".
  18. Any facts to this? Anyone have an email from Google that's it's going to do this? Anyone here have a YouTube channel to confirm this? I just logged in to YouTube and not a one of the hunting channels I am subscribed to has been altered or interrupted. Papist? Is that you? Is that you Papist?
  19. Moved out of Schenectady. Found a place near me in Greenville. Thanks anyway for the info. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk
  20. Beer, an older Slipknot concert in the background while reading the newest "debating" thread about crossbows. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk
  21. There's a ton of how-to's on the web about making mock/fake rubs. I started looking into it a couple years ago when someone posted a pic of a rub that looked like there were knife shavings at the base of the tree. These were the two that still come up on a quick search on the web. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ueded6Uznh0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DznKhA_amuk A search for mock rubs and fake rubs will show you some pretty interesting results. If you dig deep enough. I can't find it right now, but one even shows a dude using a small hand saw to make a fake rub on upright trees. Won't work for me hunting mostly public land, But, you hunters with private land might be able to try it and get good results.
  22. So, if I read this right and understand it right......... With all of your shoulder and knee problems, your hubby asks you to pick up a barrel weighing over 100#'s and you did it with no problem? Now that's impressive!
