  1. I remember being 5 or 6 and watching my dad use one. I have no idea what ever happened to it .
  2. Come on man just a photo of the box ? That was disappointing ..
  3. 350 is rather light, there’s tons of positive reports going to a 500 grain plus arrows. I myself believe it’s where one gets that weight that’s important . By installing a 50- 75 grain brass insert and a heavy broad head so one has 175 grain or more at the front seems to me would drive through better and have less wobble as you say. I think back to the lawn Jarts for those of us that are old enough to remember them and how they used to fly and burry into the ground . A high FOC arrow flys very well and having that much weight in the front to (pull) the arrow through a animal just makes sense to me .Just my opinion and what has worked for me.
  4. It was actually the 9th but the youngest didn’t have a weekend off till this coming. Love her to death , it’s no big deal she says, it’s just another day.
  5. No not really , she likes a good steak just as well as seafood or pasta.
  6. Myself i shoot 450 grain arrow 125 grain head . but I am a 32 inch draw pulling 65 lb so I have pretty good KE. My son I added 50 grain brass inserts 125 grain head his is around 450 also . he’s 28.5 Draw 60 pounds. My wife she’s 25 inch draw 40 lbs her arrows are 400 grains , 75 grain brass inserts 125 head. She’s had no problems on deer.
  7. Wife had mentioned dinosaur bbq, but wasn’t sure..
  8. Youngest lives in chili and we are driving up to celebrate the wife’s birthday Saturday . So recommend a good place for four..
  9. Or buy a nice hunting revolver and double your enjoyment ..
  10. So no alcohol involved then ?
  11. I myself was looking really hard at the SR1911 and was saving the money to buy one. Glad I didn’t rush right out and get it. I wanted one for general woods carry when we are out working etc. Now I have shifted to a 8 shot 357 red hawk and will be getting one I think. Ruger makes great guns but as in all man made items a company will put out a not so stellar product every now and again.
  12. If I may make a suggestion in a red dot check out the ultra dots. Not super expensive, light weight and tough as iron.
  13. I’m a ruger guy all the way, but they have been having problems with hot loads in the SR1911httpshttps://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=265073://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=265073 https://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=265073
  14. I went to handgun only about 8 yrs ago, Super red hawk 44 mag with 9.5 inch barrel is my rig . I carried my grand dads 300 savage last year, first time taking it out, so the handgun stayed home . My powder of choice for my reloads is 2400. I’ve used hard cast and xtp’s to kill deer. Going to load up some 270 grain Speer deep curls and 280 grain swift A frames to see how they shoot this year. I started with a black hawk in 357 and used 180 grain hard cast over 13 grains of 2400 and killed a few deer with that combo. My son will be using it this coming season, My wife hunts with a Gp100 in 357 . My SRH has a scope on it now and the 357’s have red dots .
  15. I know 3 woman including my wife that hunt. I got my wife into hunting 20 years ago. I remember when she took her hunter safety course for archery, she out shot all the men. I started her on target archery first at our local club and she was / is a pretty good shot. Loves hunting as much as I do.
  16. If your not a outdoors person, yep 100 % right.
  17. Yep I’ll get paid for a meal in my check from the state . Had a dumb ass walking down the road step right out in front me. Had his hoody up never looked. Good thing I was watching him, he almost got V- plow to the Kidney...
  18. Been in the plow truck since daylight, Man o man it was coming down here in Elmira for a bit, white out conditions . Filling my belly with a wegmans meatball sub then back at it. It is slowing down some .
  19. My view , enjoying some classic rock and playing in the snow ..
  20. I wouldn’t say chicken out . Just being smart ..
  21. PM’d all the equipment yesterday . Went into work early this morning and watching it sleet and rain now. Plow trucks, skid steer , power brooms are fueled and ready. Grounds crew already laid down salt.So we’re just waiting for the fluffy white stuff.
