    I am no expert, but even I can see that’s no 1 year old ..

    With my back and messed up knee I can drag deer out but why . Why take a chance hurting myself then end up on the couch for week waiting for my slipped disk to go back in. My atv lets me continue to hunt, work smarter not harder.

    It’s tough, and I can sympathize. When my dad passed I didn’t hunt for two years. But I got my wife into hunting and then my son became old enough. Keep plugging away, and I hope you find a new hunting partner to share with.

    I think between guys letting younger bucks go, the decline of hunters, food plots being planted and the mild winters we have been having, that we are seeing bigger deer harvested.

    So of course this apply’s to morning hunts. Some time ago I started to do this when i would shoot a deer and I would see it go down, I would continue to sit and keep hunting. I’ve had very good luck doing this filling two tags many of times. Of course weather plays a roll in this to. So do you or will you start to field dress shortly after ?

    No cell service on the lease so this is a bit late . Connected with my granddads savage on a good sized doe at 45 -50 yards about 9:30 . Had a hole in the brush big enough I could see her shoulder , neck head . The hand loaded 165 grain Speer hot core did a number on her shoulder, She ran ten yards. Bitter sweet as I wanted to shoot a deer with the savage but would have much rather had my wife or son fill our one doe tag. She’s skinned hanging in the garage, wife and I will process tomorrow.
