  1. For me, yes. We also de-bone the tail and salt them. Some are used for a tail board with the weathered plank from the original homestead, from the property. And some, I'm using, to make smallmouth jigs for fishing. If you are wondering weather or not I eat them? NO WAY!
  2. In light of the changes they made last year and the proposed changes for this year. I'm very surprised they have not made a proposal for full inclusion for crossbows. It does make sense to do so. Perhaps that is why it's not being proposed.
  3. The first part was an attempt at humor. The second part is where I attempted to answer your question.
  4. It's all a part of you making them ready to do their part in the world. Seems like it is always harder on the parents than the kids. You have done a great job to this point. Now is the time to encourage the good things they do. I'm sure she will blossom in to a beautiful ballerina and fine young lady too.
  5. I'm for crossbow full inclusion too. It will get more hunters out in the field. And more hunters should kill more deer. Much better than having a muzzle loader in bow season. IMO
  6. Dog.....Food..... Yipp....yodels Howl....hash Bark....biscuits And I'm tanning some pelts to make winter and ice fishing hats.
  7. If elected, I would put venison in every pot and a firearm in every "Law Abiding" citizen's hand!
  8. I, for one, know more about coyote's than Muslims. Not sure if it really makes a difference though.
  9. Make a natural ground blind. Put in it, something that resembles an old stinky guy hunting. Works for me.
  10. The number of coyote's in some areas are just out of control. Our area of 4-H is one of those areas. When you recover a deer after a three hour wait and it is half eaten, there are too many coyotes. When at night, on a 500 acre farm property, you can hear two or three, large groups of coyote's calling back and forth, there are too many coyotes. When you see only one out of three does with fawns in the summer fields, there are too many coyote's. I could go on an on with observations, made by a couple of older guy's that have hunted and lived on this property their entire lives. All the land owners in the area say the same thing, so it's not just us. This is not some study done by any number of agencies, but real life observation, by the people actually on the land. I remember, before the coyote's population exploded. And the difference in small game, turkey and deer numbers, then and now, is staggering. So, what needs to be done? In my humble opinion, a year round open season, or a bounty like PA. is proposing, would be a start. But I know, that alone, will not reduce the numbers, to make much difference. And really, I don't "hate" coyote's. They are part of the wild, that make the outdoors and nature so special. I just wish there were not so many of them.
  11. Hope it all works out for you and your dad. Also hope that it will be all you have been looking for, in a hunting property. Best of luck!
  12. Welcome back to New York! At some point, I may ask your advice, for an Ontario fishing trip. With a bass boat.
  13. No more a raging idiot than the majority, on both sides of the isle.
  14. Why not just put your boots on the ground and see for yourself? You would get a more accurate idea of what the deer are doing.
  15. Great idea! The NFL team with the worse record vs the college champions! It most likely would be a better game, than some of the Super Bowl's I've seen!
  16. Hunting is becoming killing for some people. Why not just gather up a bunch of deer, put them in a pen, and let the "hunter" pick out the one they want? One stop shop for deer. Unfortunately that seems to be where it's heading for some people. No need for learning the way of the whitetail, woodsmanship, patience, even becoming proficient with your weapon of choice. Just drive up, kill a deer, pack it up and head on home. That is why I spend time here, on this site. The vast majority are real hunters and would never think of not hunting for their venison or antlers. It's up to us to keep "hunting" as it should be. United we stand. Divided we fall.
  17. Don't want to mess with your eye's. Better go to the Dr's. to get it checked out, just to be safe!
  18. Patriots vs the team from The Longest Yard. Played in the prison.
  19. Don't see it working if you use a pack.
  20. Me too. Kept waiting for the death roll!
  21. Welcome! Hope you enjoy your NY hunting adventures!

    SNOW

Still just a couple of dustings here. The wind is howling today though, with cold wind chills. Still nowhere near as bad as last year. The woods critters should be just fine if it continues like this. The forecasters are yapping about a "possible" nor'easter for Saturday. We will see.
