  1. 2 small bucks was it for me this morning. Fairly quiet opener as far as close shots go, flurry of shooting around sunup then went pretty quiet overall. Was planning an all dayer but got cold and wasn't feeling optimistic about the rest of the day there. Going back out to a different piece tonight.

  2. Yeah I may be a reach at 139 but we shall see. Having breakfast and the I'll weigh her. Closest to actual weight gets a tenderloin! lol
I agree with the other guys, I don't see 150, I've killed a few real big does and they were in the 130's dressed. Pics can be hard to judge though. Still a real big doe in the 30's!

  3. Clique equals friends in my book……..some have em, some don’t.   Lol
Disagree in part, the clique I'm referring to is the group attack, agree with one another at all costs, general douchebaggery. People with real friends don't spend all of their time on forums generally. It's easier to make online friends because you can be anyone you choose, you never truly know the person on the other side. There are/were people on here who I guarantee you are not the person you are led to believe they are. I joined this site because I thought it was cool to see what others were seeing/shooting/doing. I didn't join it to find friends per se, just conversation with like minded people. There are people who I'm certain I'd be friends with here, who I feel are genuine individuals, others I believe are only here to be someone they aren't in their "real life," to pound their chest, to impress, to brag, to feel like they have a podium. To each their own...

  4. Still the same cliques over there...just at a different IP address.
I haven't even made any attempt to look at the other site. Just look at all of the people who left in a matter of days, most of them being the "clique." The herd mentality is strong here I guess haha.

  5. All the malcontents that hated the way this board was being run by the owner and it's political spot left and started their own board, good trade off as far as I am concerned, mostly hunting related posts here now.
Everybody is happy now, they don't have to see any politics and we don't have to see their petty back biting, cheap shots and complaining about T shirts along with wading through what some fry and eat every day.

I agree with some of this for sure. This site turned into some people's diaries. They couldn't walk into the woods without writing a short novel about it. I don't care what you're eating for dinner, what dream you had last night, so many stupid/pointless threads being started. There were also a lot of "cliques" for awhile here, that was annoying. I don't see myself going to a new site, if this one dies one day, so be it, life goes on.

  6. I'm not trying to be a jerk in anyway, but you mentioned that it was a good shot, in shoulder, out guts. That's not a very good shot. The shoulder isn't harboring vitals. It was a quartered toward shot which is not a good angle. You can tuck it tight behind a shoulder on a quartering too and never touch lung. At best you go dead center through the shoulder you may get 1 lung. It appears you hit liver/guts, maybe caught the back of one lung, maybe under it. That deer will die, just may take a few more hours.

  7. Making me jealous that I don't have a pet fox to feed cheeseburgers to! Very cool, hopefully he can recover, his buddies will never believe him when he tries explaining this to them...

  8. After GRINDING out 70+ hours since Halloween and having several close encounters, one with this buck yesterday, I decided he would make me happy after a frustrating week/season. I've seen 17 bucks in the last 10 days from the stand, the majority being 1.5 yr olds. I've had several days of our big shooter bucks walking past me in the dark, when I couldn't see my pins, to a great buck giving me a 50 yds shot which I elected to not shoot that far. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions all season. It ended this AM when 15 minutes after light this buck came out of bedding 25 yds below me. He worked straight up to under my stand, and stared at me 3 different times. It was so still and quiet there was no way I could get away with any movement or sound as he approached. The third time he got squirrelly and bounded twice and stopped, I took that opportunity to draw in case he hesitated again. We'll, he did, at 25 yds and I put one through both lungs. He ran 30-40 yds up the hill, stopped and tipped over. I've seen this buck 3 times since Halloween, he's not the biggest around by any means but I'm very glad I got the opportunity and executed a perfect shot on him. 9. He's not the biggest buck we have by any means but I've put in 70+ hours in the last week and a half and he's nice enough for me this year. I've had so many close calls it was getting discouraging and this morning almost turned into the same, he came under me and kept looking up at me, finally he worked downwind and bounded twice and I took that opportunity to draw, he stopped at 25 and that was his mistake. He didn't go 40 yds.

  10. I'm typically not pushing a deer with a bow in my hands, the odds of follow up shots are low on a marginally hit deer. Rifle leg hits are another story. I'd rather wait until the next morning than chase a deer a mile with my bow in hand. Not to mention the OP's deer has a high entrance wound, chances of being able to follow a great distance is lower, and if it's a single lung he'll still have his wits about him enough to stay well in front of you...

  11. 2 bucks and 5 does/fawns this AM so far. Decent 8 almost got a hole in him but at the last second the doe he was interested in decided to go a different direction. Watched them for 20 minutes, he rubbed trees and made scrapes the entire time. Small 6 came by awhile ago and headed straight toward the combine that's chopping right now 50 yds away. I'm in all day again, hopefully something else wants to cruise today.
