  1. So enlighten me Jj what's so hard to understand..... Seems you just creep through everyone's post to nit pick them apart insult anyone you have different opinions with and keep yourself on the high altar you feel you belong. Not one post you have commented on has had anything posative as a reply. Don't like what I say you have no obligation to read or comment. Let me try to make it more understandable for the hard readers, went out back, walked out near the property line but not all the way to it. A guy starts yelling g that my wife is trespassing when clearly we know we are not as we are 50 yards or better from the line that is clearly marked by a dug road, metal fence, and posted signs. After a few mi urea of looking for the voice I find a guy sitting opposite side of road in full camo, still yelling, being an asshole. We turn walk down hill I get wife settled into a ground blind, blind sits 50 yards off line facing away from it, then guy comes stomping kicking and yelling on phone to someone saying he walked right up to. Well I stay with her as he seems to be out to ruin our hunt and anyone else in the county and do t want to leave her there alone with the nutcase wandering the woods... Hour passes, there he goes again same shit different direction. Decide hunting for today is over go back to house and go over property maps, just to be sure... Then find out the bordering landowner let's a couple guys from the city come up and hunt. I hope this clarifies any misunderstanding you may have had please advise if I should add footnotes or cite any of my work proffesor... Sent from my HTC Desire Eye using Tapatalk
  2. Got to love when you and the wife go out hunting on your own property only to have someone sitting on the line that borders on side start yelling that you are trespassing. No sir I am not at the line yet only to be argued with more. Note, property line on that side has a logging road and a fence line right along the line. Come to find out it was someone with permission to hunt the land from out of the area... Side note, I understand NY may have changed the laws on wearing orange but when you know there are other ppl nearby make yourself visible not full camo or camo coat and blue jeans in thick cover.. it's people like this that give city slickers a bad rap. End rant... Hope everyone else had a pleasurable opening weekend mine however not so much. Sent from my HTC Desire Eye using Tapatalk
  3. Just a shout out to all heading to camp today or heading out at first light. May the deer gods be ever in your favor, let's see the sights from your stand at first light and let's see the victory pics when the blood trail ends. Tomorrow will be my wife's first time out so odds are I won't be pulling the trigger but hope to post one of her first deer. Best of luck guys and girls. Sent from my HTC Desire Eye using Tapatalk
  4. Have a full box of 3 1/2 in double 00 buck need 12 ga sabbot slugs..... Sent from my HTC Desire Eye using Tapatalk
  5. It's a rifle area, but my area for hunting has thick cover and no long range shots I would need the distance of a rifle. Any advise on what sabbots generally shoot best or is it best to find what the gun itself likes best Sent from my HTC Desire Eye using Tapatalk
  6. Rifled sights no scope Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  7. I have this problem when it comes to shotguns, I am a huge fan of the Remington 870, that being said yesterday I picked up a 870 12ga, fully rifled 24 inch barrel. What's everyone else's thought on these guns. Mind you where I'm hunting it is fairly thick with no long shots over 75 yards max, the other question I have is slug choice. With a full rifled barrel do I have to use sabbot slugs or can I use regular slugs. Personally never had a rifled barrel so I'm not sure, what do you guys use or recommend Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  8. I have been scratching my head at an article I saw about making your own scent blocker/ cover scent with branches and fallen acorns etc from your hunting area. Basically boil the stuff in a pot, let it cool and put it in a spray bottle. Natural smell of the area and it's not going to be anything the deer don't smell on a regular basis. 9. After going out and walking my woods I have come to find I might have trouble getting into my tree stand on some occasions. I have thought of setting up a ground blind that my wife or I can use if we are both in the woods. My question is what do you guys say. How far off trails should it be what would you consider the best areas, I plan to use natural cover and downed branches to make the blind so it blends well and doesn't get noticed as something out of place.. how big would you make it. I have thick cover below a ridge line where they bed at night I was thinking of putting it just below the ridge to overlook the thicker stuff as it is the travel path between food and water and bedding area. Any ideas and input will be appreciated Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  10. I have 1 box of 3 1/2 buckshot 00, and a box of shotshells, 2 3/4 #6 shot. Looking to see if anyone is interested . Don't have a 12 ga anymore looking for .410 shotshells Sent from my HTC Desire Eye using Tapatalk
  11. I took mine out 2 days last week. Just out behind the house and filled bag limit both days within an hour or so. They are out and moving and slamming the hickory and acorns around me. Sent from my HTC Desire Eye using Tapatalk
  12. Safe to say he had a blast and so did i Sent from my HTC Desire Eye using Tapatalk
  13. I have a small 9 acre plot of oaks, maples, and pines behind the house. the small little piece of land sits between a few ponds, and corn and soybean fields. so my property has turned into the travel route to get between the 2 main nutrient sources. I have a stand for me along a power line where i can see 2 trails that butt together 100 yards from my stand, I have a second stand about 200 yards away that is set up for my wife this year overlooking the scrub brush and main trail from a small elevation rise. both stands have seen deer activity in scouting and with just the 2 of us hunting i feel it will be very promising for some tags to be filled.... or so i hope...
  14. This will indeed sound like a dumb question but I have never found any sheds in the woods while walking.... Any tips or advise on where to look and what to look for to find some. Im sure it begins with slowing down and looking closer but anything else to help in the search????? thanks
