  1. SHIT, I,M ALL DONE WITH THIS CLUB FORUM EFFECTIVE NOW.
  2. After sunset when coming out of the wood,s deer hunting during gunning season it,s illegal to have a loaded hunting implement except permit Handgun,s. Shit, and how did wining get into this conversation if you get busted. Do you think your talking to children. What a dam remark to make. Do you think your better than anyone else in this club. Man that remark upset me.If I get God dam busted that,s my God dam business not your,s ok. Shit, I,m outa here.
  3. Your saying it,s ok to carry your Handgun in a open side holster while Deer Hunting is that correct if as long as your hunting with your center fire rifle?
  4. We,ll I asked a retired NYS Trooper about that and he smiled and never really gave me a straight answer on that. I,m quite sure your right.
  5. Oh by the way. I got my concealed carry Handgun Permit issued to me in 1964 and the only thing I,ve harmed is a Target.
  6. Dam right Turkeyfeather,s absolutely. From what I here is that if your Doctor feel,s your a potential threat to yourself or other,s than the certain parties are notified and they go Gun collecting. Now the individual that looses his Gun right,s can legally file an appeal through the court system and it can be overturned by the Judge.
  7. It,s perfectly legal as long as you carry it concealed that is if that,s what,s on your Permit. I carry my S@W Shield 45 acp along with my 300 Magnum Cannon.
  8. I got a E-mail on this from National Gun News. Take this for what,s it,s worth ok. The word is that Gun owner,s in Hawaii are given one week to turn in their Gun,s if their taking a legal medication from their Doctor that,s on the Hawaiian Police Blotter. If they do not turn in their Gun,s they will come to their homes and take them by force. UNQUOTE. This would be right down Cuomo,s alley as far as stealing our Gun,s away from us under the Hawaiian Police way of doing thing,s. The 2nd Amendment Constitutional legal reality of doing this is it legal or not . Good question. I take if needed the lowest medication for back pain because I,m 78 and my disc,s in my back are worn almost flat because of the labor,s of a long life. If I ever get a letter notification from a N.Y.S. Police Socialistic bastard ass holes telling me to turn in my Gun,s they miight as we,ll lock my ass up because when they come to my home. Someone has stolen all my Gun,s and I do not know where they are. This type of the Hawaiian Police way of doing thing,s could start a Revolution in this Country. That,s what the 2nd. Amendment was fastioned for, a radical Government.
  9. We,ll when I became a Club member, I bought at tack driving Mossberg 500 with a slug barrel. I cannot recall exactly how many deer I dumped with that gun in 8T but I will say one thing, every tag was a legal tag in my name. It got to a point that the club guy,s just new I,d get a deer every time I was down there except once. And guess what, on the way back after we cleared Penn Yann, one ran into the side of my Rambler station wagon. Ha Ha . Deer hit the pavement slid on it,s ass and bounced off the lower door panel behind me . I hit the brakes and looked in the rear view mirror and saw the deer and the hair flying behind me. I thought to myself, yeaaa, I just got my deer.My buddy was flipping out because he said 3 big does ran right in front of our car as I was braking and cking the mirror. Thank the man up stair,s because if I had not braked , we would of have deer in the front and back seat. And that Rambler would have been totalled. We both had party permit,s and buck tags and I end up bringing one home with a County Mounty Police tag.. This morning while walking in with my brand new 300 mag. I lost the clip in it while walking in. I had to turn around and play metal detector with my eyes and flash light and yes I found it. Made it to my watch in time. But, no luck today but man, I love being in the fall wood,s anyways. I had a great day. Got home, ate a big supper and a hot shower and relaxed in my potato chair.
  10. Early year,s Deer hunting area 8T. I was not a Club member yet and my Club posted property lines were about 80 yds. from me where I was on watch. I had my buddies 12 ga. Mossberg bolt action 3 shot. One up the tube and two in the clip. It was the second day of the opening and I was on watch sitting on a real small cut off tree stump the farmer had removed in the middle of the field on the highest part of it. The grass was from memory I,d say roughly 3 feet high. There was a problem though, my buddy forgot the clip so I had a one shot gun. The accuracy of this Mossberg was real ok that is if you take your time aiming it when you lined up your target. The barrel on it was a Modified choke. After lunch I had wandered up to this location because the wood,s nearby around me was full of blaze orange dot,s (Hunter,s). Coming and going down below me crossing this massive size soil bank property back and forth. Man it was real quiet just nothing moving as far as deer go. We,ll sitting on this small stump for almost an hour my butt was getting real sore. I decided to get up and walk a little higher on the hill and look to find a larger stump to sit on. I did not have a hot seat I,d left it in the car. I stood up, bent over a little stretching my leg,s , back ect. or whatever and turned around and started to climb the hill. we,ll I had taken 8 to 10 step,s while looking down at the ground. Wow I said to myself as look at the large deer foot print,s.They were all over where I was standing.Man, whata hell was going on here I thought. I took about 3 more step,s and this massive size deer started to move fast at a quick crall away from me heading to the higher side off the hill justa haulin ass. The Mossberg butt stock hit my should and the safety come off and in my mind I,m screaming horn,s, horn,s but I couldn,t see any ,the deer,s had it,s head tucked down under it chest. I could have touched this animal with the end of the gun barrel in the early moving out stage. And, you guessed it, I had no party permit.Suddenly the head came up with a nice 8pt rack buck just hauling ass. I aimed the best I could in all the excitement and fired my one shot gun. The deer never broke stride. The buck as I watched it go across the farmer,s plowed field toward the road. It crossed the road down where we had a homasowed hunting camp that could sleep 13 guy,s. My buddy was at the camp with a club member eating some lunch and watched the buck cross the field way out in front of them and go down into that deep ravine where I got my 9pt many years later. Anyhow our club scored this buck the next morning on a push drive. When he came in view of one of our club guy,s on watch it was limping. I did get a hit on this fine animal but in the wrong place. This whole thing to me went down in a speedy moment blurr. And that,s the way hunting deer can be sometime. Before I leave this write up, I wanted to pass this hunting tip across I had picked up over many year,s of chasing deer. If you buy any new blaze orange vest, coat, pant,s or hat just before the opening, do not wear these clothes on the opening in the wood,s (unless) that,s all you have. Here,s why, deer cannot see blaze orange hardly at all I agree because I was in full blaze orange head to toe facing broadside to that 9pt. and it did not see me before I shot it.. But, when the clothes are brand new, most any movement to a deer can create a flash reflection effect and it will spook them. Especially if your partly in the sunlight on a watch ect.. Buy your new clothe on sale after deer season,s wind,s down. Come summer, hang them in the sun for as many times as it take,s so it,s enough to dull the blaze orange up. Could get you a deer maybe.I have many hunting stories that I will add when I recall them to write up. Just be patient with me ok. Good luck on the opening, my Jeep is all packed in my garage. I,m 78 but you can bet your sweet ass I,l be on watch before daylight. I have buddies I can call if I need help with one and oh my do I ever hope I need help. ha ha. TwoSeventy (God Bless You Guy,s and enjoy your hunt)
  11. That,s correct, Turkey Buzzard,s. That Skunk was almost totally picked clean from that trap. And as one of you guy,s said, that it was a surprise to catch a Skunk in that Raccoon trap. Also surprised was my trapper friend when he saw the Skunk in his Raccoon trap. He was suspecting Raccoon,s were the garbage varmint,s. Bazaar as I said. Anyway,s that took care of the garbage collector.
  12. Was visiting my friend the other day in the country not far from Clayton,N.Y.. He has a trailer with a large add on he built on. We were sitting on his back deck in the warm Sun talking old hunting ect. memories. We have been friend,s for over 50 year,s and he is a avid trapper, duck hunter, deer hunter and he,s getting around just as well as I am in the wood,s. I,m 3 days older than my buddy is and I still drag my deer out if the Good Lord provides me with the luck. I,m 78 but you know it just takes longer to drag one out to the road from my usual watch. I go a little way,s and when my ticker get,s to pounding pretty good, I stop for a rest. I use a really slick drag tarp that reduces the drag friction up to 46% so it say,s. We,ll let,s get talking about the Skunk in the trap thing. He told me that outside his trailer in the country where he live,s, some critter was getting into his garbage can,s. So he decided to set out a Racoon trap. Name or type of trap is a Duke DP Coon trap. You can find them on Amazon. My friend has 4 of them. He set one out with in a foot or so beside his trailer and baited it. Now the next morning when he was leaving for work he checked the trap and he had a dam Skunk in it. He dispatched the Skunk with a 22 and left for work thinking when he got back home he would deal with the problem then. Now later after work as he pulled in his driveway he got out and went to check the trap. He was very surprised to only find a little blood on the ground and just a bit of fur left in the trap. He new what had happened to the Skunk and it was not any 4 paw creature. You guy,s got any idea,s ? He told me what ate the Skunk. Take a guess. Remember, this trap was right next to his trailer and the next home nearest to his trailer was a 1/2 mile. He lives in a very open area. The closest wood,s to his place are 300 yrd,s or so away.
  13. Grampy, How are you doing. Is the stuff I sent you in working order ? TwoSeventy
  14. I do not know if any of you guy,s ever experienced this from a Grouse before. On opening day of Deer hunting one time in area 8T Southern Tier we were hunting up on the high hill area just above Cameron, N.Y.. Now there was fresh snow down about three to four inches and it was a cold morning. Our Hunting Club, The Clayton Calumet Rod@Gun Club, had 600 acre,s of posted land in Steuben County. Each member paid $150.00 a year.In our group there were Doctor,s, Police officer,s mostly Deputies and justa bunch of good guy,s wanting to bring home some Deer meat. Over the year,s hunting down there, every one of us had their own usual watch they sat on the opening. We,ll back to me walking in to my watch, I was cutting through some brush near some Pine Tree,s when I was very startled when I flushed under my feet 4 Ruff Grouse.Holy shit I said to myself being startled. There was a slight rise in the ground leval which I proceeded to walk up on top. Now to my left was a tractor trail through the wood,s that I walked in on for 75 to 80 yds, and then I cut left back down the same type rise but allot steeper. Lot,s of cover here, yet you could see good down through the pine,s.Got down to my favorite sit, kicked the snow away good and placed my hot seat down then sat down.then I leaned back against the tree behind me. Now if you looked up, you could see ok as far as the still existing cloud cover but a few tree limb,s did block some of my view. Now remember those Grouse I kicked out on the way in, we,ll I think their territorial . I know this sound,s crazy but all of a sudden one flew right in over my head and landed on one of those limb,s above me and he kept fluffing his feather,s with his neck stretched out looking down at me and cacklin like no get out. that dam Bird was intent on chewing my ass out. I,ve never ever experienced this before. Dam, funny as hell and that Bird persisted in his cackling down at me for quite a few second,s. We,ll I lifted up my Mossberg Model 500 with a slug barrel attached to see if I could get a reaction. Sure as shit , the big old Grouse split. He sure somehow new what a gun was. Another time I was climbing a wooded hill area that had a walk trail hunting Squirrel,s and Grouse. I had been climbing in a indian slow walk trying to catch a Grouse or Squirrel on the ground with my vision looking far enough out in front of me. Dammit, I thought to myself I gotta take a shit. I always had some toilet paper with me for these occasion,s so I took a right off of the trail and walked in a way,s till I found a good place to squat to take a dump. Pulled down my pant,s and underwear, laid my Mossberg on the side of me and leaned back enough to distribute to nature some fertilizer. All of a sudden, wham to my right toward,s the trail I got a dam Grouse in full wing spread in my face. I waved my one arm and the bird dove down to the ground in back of me running. I pushed myself forward, grabbed my Mossberg and peppered his ass and then commenced to keep shittin. That dam Bird had been watching me slow walking that trail.Watched me cut in and then lost sight of me. So It flew in toward me looking for me. Bad Bad mistake.
  15. Found this: https://www.sportsmensalliance.org/news/how-to-deal-with-anti-hunters-and-harassment/
  16. As far as I have heard, in N.Y.S. law,s were passed that people doing such a thing can be arrested. But It would take some looking into to find the Legislation write up on it. I heard this in a deer camp by word of mouth.
  17. Top right is a 9 point I shot in his bed while still hunting in a deep ravine, real deep ravine . Took me 1 and 1/2 hrs to get him to the road. At the time I was 6 ft 1 1/2 and weighed 245 lbs in top good conditioning. Lifting weight,s ect. Karate work out,s and age 45. N.Y.S. Southern Tier 8T Cameron. Then when I got up to the road I had a 75 yd more drag. Left pic is my deer hanging l to r number 3. Today I,m 6 ft. and weight 225 lbs , I,m shrinking. Top two was a great hunt with my Friend Rick Greenier and we filled all our tag,s yeahhh. We went down to 8T in his little car. When we left camp the high beam,s were in the tree,s . A young Police Officer lit us up in the City , he just wanted to know where we got all the Venisan , he was going ape from the excitement of seeing all these deer. Bottom left is Jimmy Joe Guyette with a beauty he dumped during the day. Bottom right is another fine buck one of our hunter,s got. Hope you guy,s enjoyed the pic,s ect. Two Seventy
  18. Fantastic getting your first Deer. It,s a good happy feeling when it happens. I,m a Senior hunter and I got my first deer Nov.11, 1958. A 6 point Buck around 4:15 P.M.. I was on watch on a swamp really torn up runway. South Colton N,Y.. I had to tag the deer after I cleaned it up and hid the deer by dragging it into the brush. I walked away from the hiding place about 20 yrd,s and hung my red hanky up as a latter locader. My friend,s hunted in the morning but decided to drink beer in Seaver,s bar in South Colton. When I drove back both of them were pretty well shit face. I drove back and we used flash light,s to find my deer. When we dragged it out to the car, a Game Warden was waiting for us. He cked, the deer and said, nice deer guy,s. Rigger mortis was well set in. Good luck on your next one.
  19. We were hunting up near Star Lake N.Y. back in about 7 miles near a small camp setting called Aldrich. We drove up early on a Saturday morning from Clayton,N.Y. to be on our favorite watch spot,s for early Sun up. We,ll one of my very close friend,s named Ray Couch always hunted with a 308 Norma Magnum. He Deer hunted with it and at time,s Moose and Elk. That weekend, Ray told me he was not feeling well and said he could not make it. Ray said I could use his Norma, just stop by and pick it up. Ray reloaded his own shell,s always and when I stopped at his place along with his Gun he handed me a handful of his reload,s. Now we had one Party Permit to use and there was 4 of us together riding up using two Car,s. Saturday,s hunt was a bust, none of us saw any White tail.s. We decided to Hunt Sunday of course and start heading back around 3 P.M..I was riding on the passenger side front seat and I had Ray,s Norma between my leg,s (not) loaded. Doug Shell from Clayton was in the back seat. Dirt gravel road with pot holes so we were driving real slow in my friend,s Station Wagon. Doug in the back seat had a 30-30 Model 94 Winchester. Our other friend,s Car was behind us back a bit. Still to this day I remember what happened next now and then around the Deer season opener and I chuckle to myself. Suddenly from the heavy tree,s ect. on my side, one helluva big Doe jumped in front of our Car . One bound to the middle of the road and one more hop to clear the road on the driver,s side. The Car came to a sudden stop and we were amazed at what just took place. And in the next moment the biggest dam rack Buck cleared the whole road following the Doe. And then they went into a slow walk and on top of that, the wood area on the side where the two Deer were walking was very shootable. Now I quickly moved out of the vehicle, ran across the gravelled road with Ray,s Norma in hand and off onto the grass away,s and thinking to myself., Now be cool about this, don,t "F''Ck" this up.I took one of Ray,s 180 grainer,s and dropped the round into the Barrel. I could still see this nice Buck for a easy shot. Now , here,s what happened. I could not close the Gun,s bolt all the way just almost. With my hand I was beating on the bolt trying to close it.I was thinking to myself no,no ,this cannot be happening to me.But it was. I looked to my left side and Doug with the Winchester had round,s all over the ground, total Buck fever. I finally got the bolt closed and took off to where the Deer had gone, but of course it was way to late. Then when I gave up, I could not open the bolt. Had to shoot the round into a fat tree. I off course was thinking, Ray,s G.D. reload,s. We,ll, the story finally played out that it was my own fault. You can not load a Mouser action that way. You have to push a round down into the internal magazine, then close the bolt. The tollerencess on a Mouser are very tight to clear the round ejector,s on each side of rear end of the round your loading.. We,ll , this all happened back in the mid 60,s. I have lot,s of Deer hunting stories, so now and then I,ll come back and type another one.
  20. ODYSSEUS I still teach the kid,s the art and it is a good feeling while doing it. I love the little guy,s.
  21. Because of the few member,s giving me their support , I will stay.. But no further discussion,s on Squash.Grampa like you, I,ve wandered the Northern Wood,s of N.Y.S. for 50 yrs. The guy,s I hunted with many a time we hunted out of Star Lake back in a little settlement called Aldrich which was seven miles back in. We took quite a few deer out of there also. One followed me while I was doing a indian type hunt on 4" of fresh snow. I spent a little over 3/4 of an hour slow stalking then turned around and walked back to a good spot to sit down to go on watch. I cleaned up a snow spot and put down my hotseat and lit a cigarette. I looked back over my left should and there looking away from me was nice Billy Buck. I had the Doe Permit so I raised my 257 Robert,s had to tip the gun at a angle to get a decent scope picture and pulled the trigger.Down he went. Put it this way, my very first deer I got was a 6 point November 11,1958. I was watching a swamp type run way trail that was pretty beat up just before sunset he stepped out and that was it.South Colton N.Y. and we were staying a Seaver,s Inn. The Inn owner let me hang the deer over night in his garage and we went home the next morning. I was proud as a Peacock. Oh, I now am reloading a new 300 Winchester Magnum. You can load 100 grain all the way up to 220 grain. I put a new Barka 3/12/50/Scope on it. Purchased a muzzle break for it and it reduced the recoil down to less than my 270 I traded for it.Plus cash.
  22. Being that this subject has caused so much anger or little interest or stones on my head because of it, I (will not) reply to any more question,s or post anymore on this or POST ANYTHING on any subject other than selling something or thing,s related to reloading which I have been into for many years. It seem,s that (anything) that is posted on (any ) subject open,s the door to the poor person that posted the subject to waiting Vultures to pounce on them and tear them apart. Make jokes about their subject they posted ect.. I have never been in a Hunting Forum like this that treats their member,s this way. In reality, the Members that do these things are in violation of the posted Forum Rules for doing this to any member. I guess it is just my thing that I have explored in and to the many people who have come forward to tell their encounter,s I deeply give them my respect. I also understand that any member,s on here that is in the work of Government or Police work or Game or Forest Ranger,s would want this subject squashed. So be it. If it has created any disharmony to any member,s thought,s on the subject I am truly sorry. I feel like a penny of what,s left of it on a railroad track after the train has went over it. Best of luck anyway,s to you guy,s hunting the Deer to fill the freezer with meat this fall. I will now back out of this room and say good bye to it.And just maybe, complete good bye again to this Hunting N.Y. Forum. God Bless you folk,s, TwoSeventy
  23. Thank You ODYSSEUS on this Bigfoot thing. http://www.nabigfootsearch.com/home.html Great web site to learn from on this subject. You know a lot of times I start a topic and often a wise ass jumps in and shit,s all over me. Don,t they have anything else to do but dump on me or any other member. ODYSSEUS , in no way I am talking about you it just seem,s that that,s the way Hunting N.Y. Forum is . I quit this forum twice anywhere from 5 to 6 month,s . And now I,m trying again to stay here , but man it sure is hard.Guess I,ve added my piece of mind thought,s.
