Live from my living room; babysitting our granddaughter this afternoon and these two have been laying here for 4 & 1/2 hours so far, 100 yds from the house. I’m thinking Momma is locked down somewhere? I shot a doe on Monday out of a group of seven flat tops. These two wouldn’t be her fawns, right? Five days later? They’re actually laying 30-40 yards from the ground blind I shot her from. I’m thinking it’s a lockdown situation.

I’d muscle in anyways and make your presence felt. Like you said, you’re one of the two with permission. Don’t make it easy for them. It may screw your morning, but there’s a good chance they’ll lose interest and split after the morning cause “there’s too many people that already hunt here”.

Guess I’m done with the stick and string for a bit and am ready for a rifle in my hands. Our NJ daughter is on her way with the grandkids and crazy spaniel for her annual buck slaying/thanksgiving visit and I’ll be doing a little babysitting today from 11 til my wife gets home at 6pm. Candyland and Barbies for me this afternoon, lol. Of course I’ll put my Crossbow on the deck just in case Mr Big shows up in the back yard. Never shot one from the house, but for the right buck, there’s always a first time! Go get ‘em!

When they changed the rule to allow scopes on muzzleloaders, I hunted shotgun seasons with that and switched to rifle when that rule was changed in Steuben County. I keep saying I’ll pull out the 870 again for a nostalgia hunt, but it hasn’t happened yet.

It’s not on kensico but maybe you can sneak it in. $7500 firm. Interested? For $2500 more I’ll deliver to Illinois. It’s a stout boat, you’ll love it!

We had a bad summer storm two years ago that knocked out local cell service for a day. When it came back, Verizon was 50% of it's previous signal strength and has been ever since. I was using a Verizon hotspot for home internet and that became almost unusable so we switched that to ATT. Even though all the neighbors report the same signal loss, Verizon denies they have an issue and just wants to sell me new equipment. I haven't switched the phones to ATT only because they work great everywhere else and we can connect the phones to wi-fi on the ATT device when we're home.

Not quite live from the woods but cell signal sucks on most of my property lately. Finally scratched my itch. I’ve been quiet on here (nothing purposeful!) but thought I’d share. I’ve had maybe 15-20 sits and have seen zero decent bucks. None of the 6-8 good ones that graced my trail cams since late summer. A couple of regular groups of does and half a dozen small bucks, and very few in range. One of the doe groups has a nosy doe that seems to always look in my direction. Half a dozen times now. Even when she’s directly upwind 200 yds away. I don’t know if this was her or not but maybe, she wasn’t being nosy tonight. I was in a pop up, 40 yd shot, quartering away, she went 75. The Rage didn’t pass through. Found half but not the business half. Must’ve stuck inside the opposite shoulder. It did seem to make a louder thwack than normal. I’ll go peek inside after dinner.

Finally got around to dialing in the gun. Last two shots from a rest with a clean, cold barrel at 100 yds.

Cant imagine drinking before or during hunting. Afterward is mandatory, am I right?

No special reason except busy as hell. This was my third week of retirement and I haven’t hunted yet! I’ve been catching up on all the property work, and end of summer stuff around the house including a crapload of small repairs that I’ve been putting off. Also did some home repair work at the mother in law’s house up in Rochester. I have a small amount of stand maintenance to do but not much. The decks are cleared and I’m damn ready to get back in the woods this week!
