  1. I've pulled cards a couple of times since mid December, and have had an assortment of spikes and forkhorns appearing on camera since then, but no racks "of note". This card pull had this guy on it, and I was glad to see him after a whole bunch of good bucks got taken down around me this year. He just needs another year or two.
  2. It was even worse when Ragnar did that to Yarl Borg. As Borg was a Viking, he couldn't scream (or he wouldn't go to Valhalla). He wasn't even restrained, he just let them do it. And this stuff was really done way back then. Just F'n brutal!
  3. They found a great actor to play Iver - he reminds me of Ragnar to a T. Right down to the freaky facial expressions.
  4. One of my favorite shows! I've also watched it since the beginning, but haven't seen this week's finale yet - don't post spoilers please! I'm thinking he's in Valhalla like Meat First said. The series has been following the historical account of Ragnar very closely so far. According to the historical account, the sons of Ragnar have a prosperous future after taking over for their father. What a brutal bunch though, aren't they? I can't watch that damn blood eagle stuff! Holy crap!
  5. Which makes it pretty impressive when the DEC guys crawl in a den and trank one so they can remove and examine the cubs. Can you imagine the adrenaline that guy is feeling? And they go in face first!
  6. I remember when I saw the black fur, I started marching right toward it as I thought it was a dead bear for a few seconds and then realized "um, no they're hibernating". I only had my old flip phone camera that day so the pics I took from a distance were useless. They were pretty much just laying on the ground with the tipped up roots making an ever so slight cover for them. When I checked it in the spring and they weren't using it any longer, I saw that it was dug out a bit, but it couldn't have been more than six inches deeper than the depression the roots left when they tipped up.
  7. In 2009/2010 I had a sow and three second-year cubs winter over in a dug out "pit" left by a tree toppling over. I was taking a winter hike checking camera cards and saw the "black fur pile" at a distance, presumably hibernating. Once I knew they were there I kept an eye on the area from time to time and saw them a few times over the winter out and about, either in person or on trail cams. I also occasionally came across recent tracks in the snow leading to that area. I think they slow their metabolism down, but maybe don't truly hibernate around here.
  8. I just gave my Ariens to one of our kids. I use this now - much better!
  9. Definitely Bear. Had the same thing happen to two cameras over the years, and he got his photo taken both times as the camera landed lens up.
  10. I'm up for a meet-up, but Albany is an eight hour round trip for me.
  11. Thanks everyone! Ok, at 58 years of age I celebrated my birthday by promptly falling asleep after dinner! Weekend plans with our family though for mine and my wife's birthday which was earlier this week. She's waaaay older than me. 5 whole days!
  12. That was the World League of American Football at that time. I went to a NY/NJ Knights away game in Ohio Stadium (fun place to see a game). Then it "morphed" into NFL Europe.
  13. Ahh, anchovies on pizza, now I'm hungry. Any pizza without anchovies is just a waste of a perfectly good pizza! #NotMyPizza
  14. I can usually get toward noon. But then again, I start with about a half-dozen of those things. My weakness..
  15. I've carried Reese's peanut butter cups for a snack for many, many years. I'll never eat the last one because then I'm not carrying one any longer and I've had at least one in my pack or pockets when I've shot most of my deer.. That thing has got to be pretty nasty by now. Hope I don't eat it by mistake....
  16. If there's a team that can beat the Pats, it's this year's Falcons.
  17. But look at it this way; if he hit you, at least there wouldn't have been an entry wound..
  18. Admittedly I don't do a lot of Coyote hunting, but 46 lbs isn't considered that big or is it? The Brittany Spaniel I had was always in the mid 40's range. I didn't really consider him very big.
  19. Darn, I missed it. I was zoned out to a test pattern during the whole time. Whew, glad I made the right call.
