  1. Just Hit 1 above but wind chills are still -20 to -25
  2. Great way to pass a day. Your grandson will appreciate that box more than you know. Great idea
  3. So far I have tried them inside & outside with just a pair of light hiking boots outside. I was in & out of stores all afternoon, and out in the garage for awhile on concrete, then shoveled the side walk and my feet didn't feel cold at all. Usually going from warm to cold multiple times you will begin to feel it but not today. Haven't had them long enough for a sit and won't be sitting in the current conditions any time soon. The will get tested for sure but not in church. For right now they seem to be keepers. goosier thanks for the link..
  4. While I somewhat agree with you I don't think teaching a drug addict how to kill would be a real good idea. And besides..Cumo could care less about the drug situation or violence. All he is trying to do is say the right things so he will have a way to boost his campaign on the way to the White House. The only thing you can count on from him is higher taxes. He claims taxes are down but I and many others are paying more and more each year. Cumo is a moron but a politically smart moron.
  5. Just like everything else...depends on if you want to drive a chevy or a Cadillac. They will both get you where you are going but one will have more bells & whistles. Like someone else said pretty much falls under the category of you get what you pay for.
  6. I have always been a big fan of smartwool socks with a pair of thinsulate boots and have always stayed warm especially when walking. As you all know smartwools are petty pricey but are worth it. I've gotta tell ya I got a pair of these for x-mas and have been trying them today inside and outside. My feet have not even been close to being cold. I am going to try them more outside this weekend but so far I am pretty impressed. At about $16.00 a pair they seem pretty good. https://www.amazon.com/Heat-Holders-Original-winter-Thermal/dp/B00J8JVCDS
  7. I didn't pay a lot for my Primos either. My biggest issue with the fox pro's is all their sounds are proprietary and can't be used on anything else and the fact that if you want the better remote you have to spend a lot more. Another thorn with me is the batteries. Their earlier models ran on four AA's and all their new models require 8-10 AA's in the caller and more in the remote. My primo takes 11 and after awhile that can get pretty pricey. The fox pro have rechargeables but between callers and trail cams a guy can go broke just buying the batteries. I usually run the lithium which are a little bit more expensive. I like the good old days when you could run a cassette with a external speaker with two batteries and pretty much hunt all night.
  8. If you are stacking them like cord wood they will pay for your "new" stuff in no time. . I also like the alpha dog but if I was going the big bucks it would be the fox pro fusion.

I am with you on that one
  10. Just a word of advise...If you are planning to buy a FoxPro order it directly from them for two reasons. 1) They don't always honor warranties if purchased from a retailer. 2) you can select what sounds you want loaded when you purchase it. If you buy one off the shelf you are more than likely going to end up with a bunch of sounds you will never use and do not like.
  11. There is a member on by the name of Robin He has a number of videos on here showing his adventures You might get some idea of what the country is like but regardless of where you go make sure you go ahead of time to check things out. Here is one of his videos:
  12. They do it here also...A lot more than should be allowed.
  13. Actually I have done quite a bit of hunting and fishing in your area (Jefferson County)
  14. Really thought about doing this one until I did some research. The only "public" land available within the boundaries of the DFMA is Buttermilk Falls Park and Robert H. Treman Park. They only allow bow & x-bow hunting. Rifles are out completely in Tompkins county. Unless you have access to private land sounds like it may not be worth it.
  15. Looks like the blade is on backwards. If it isn't on properly the collar will not screw on all the way which may be causing it to fall off. Also the two ears on the plate need to set in the corresponding notches in the housing so they will not move when the retaining cover is screwed on over it
  16. You forgot to say "and stay out of your neck of the woods"
  17. I was hunting in a BIG piece of state land off a dirt road in the southern tier once way off the road. I usually sit til legal limit then walk out so it is close to or after dark when I get out. When I got to the truck a Game Warden was waiting. After checking my license, and making sure the gun had been un-loaded he told me that he was specifically looking for after hours shooters. Evidently there had been some poaching going on in the area. That is the closest I have come. One tip to remember is if you sit til dark.. unload the gun before leaving. Walking with a loaded gun will more than likely be considered an act of hunting.
  18. After watching the video three times I still don't see a cutting blade. Either it came off in the meat or is not there. Like others said there is no way the retainer ring should come off while grinding. I would definitely check to see if it is assembled correctly.
