  1. In my stand and ready. Waiting to hear the first shot lol. Good luck all.
  2. Do yourself a favor and take a look at Vortex scopes. Super high quality, made in the USA and lifetime warranty. They are just as good as a Leupold and a bit less pricey.
  3. Well, it doesnt really matter how you lift your gun if you are really following proper gun safety, and unload it first. Thats the sure fire way to never shoot yourself. Besides, how long does it take to unload before you climb, then reload once your gun is up? 30 extra seconds tops?
  4. I can imagine the traffic passing my place is pretty busy today. I live right on one of the main drags headed down into the So Tier from the south and east sides of Rottenchester.
  5. I too, am calling shenanigans on that story. It would have been all over the news.
  6. I usually stick with cold stuff to drink, but bring along a themos of hot chocolate for my daughter when she goes with.
  7. I have a spot thats bow only that I have hunted during gun season in the past. I have way too much other ground now, and probably wont bother this year. I pretty much have put the bow away this year till after gun season is done, then Ill start shooting in the basement once I get my backstop done.
  8. I wondered what happened to that show. Thanks for the heads up.
  9. We had some pretty good snow last night, somewhere between a half and an inch. It will be gone before tomorrow. I kinda wish it would have held off and happened tonight instead of last night.
  10. Knock on wood, Ive never had an accident with a gun. I have stopped hunting and shooting with certain people over the years due to them not handling guns properly.
  11. My fiance cooks once in a while, but I am the main cook in the house.
  12. I still have a couple of things to do tonight. Ended up stopping by a fiend's last night and not getting all of my hunting clothes washed. Opps. Its fine, I have tonight to finish them. Gun is good to go, stands are up. The only thing I didnt get done was putting in my ground blind. I can do that next week at some point though.
  13. Uh, he obviously wasnt paying enough attention to his background. I agree with those blinds needing orange on them. I have one, and if you brush it in a bit, and have some brush or bushes behind it, you cannot see it from a distance at all. I would never use my blind unless everyone who hunts the same piece of property knew exactly where it was, and I had some faith in those hunting there. Even then, I get a little nervous about other hunters when Im in my blind. They make blaze orange roof covers for those blinds, I personally think each and every blind should have to have one with it. The choice to use it would be yours, but they should not be an accessory. Its just like the safety harnesses that come with every treestand anymore. I always put a couple of blaze vests on mine when I am in it so that others can see it easily. Even then, I get a little nervous at times.
  14. Me, offended? Could never happen LMAO. I have so many statements swimming around my head about what elmo said, it isnt even funny. Most I wouldnt say on here though!
  15. I consider myself just a hunter, but yes I hunt with a bow, as well as a handgun, shotgun, rifle, muzzleloader and when I get a good deal on a crossbow, Ill hunt with that too.
  16. Some of you guys eat some odd stuff.
  17. Wouldnt matter to me one way or the other. Im fine with how it is now.
  18. Its in the Hunting and Trapping guide put out by the DEC.
  19. You have to ask around and search for someone that does the class in your area. All you do is take the class, and there might be a test, but then you fill out the paperwork, go through the background check and you get your permit.
  20. 2 days of work, then 9 straight days to hunt for me. My fiance finished the laundry, so tonight the hunting stuff gets washed, and Ill be repacking my backpack. Im chompin at the bit!
  21. I try to sit in escape routes near or in thick cover if Im hunting somewhere where there will be a bunch of others hunting. If its a low pressure area, I do the normal funnel and food source hunting.
