  1. I use Rocky base layers. They have a few different weights, and they work great.
  2. Mostly a varmint round. Coyotes, fox, chucks, coons. etc
  3. Summit Viper SS if you get used, Viper SD is the new version of the SS. If you want more room, go with the Summit Goliath, which is just a slightly larger version of the Viper. If you dont want to spend $300+ right now, keep an eye on Craigslist, I see them pop up from time to time, and bought mine either last year or the year before for $150ish.
  4. HAHA, yeah pain in the butt. If you are in the market for a tablet computer, they will work for you, as most have an SD reader built in, or like I said with the iPad, you can get an adapter.
  5. The only way to do it would be to use a mini SD card with an adapter in the cam, then take it out, turn your phone off, insert the card, boot your phone up, look at the pics, shut the phone off and put the card back in the cam. You cant use the mini-usb port on the phone as an input for a device, so that wont work. Apple has an SD card reader available for iPads, not sure if it works with an iPhone though.
  6. I always format mine with the camera Im using it in.
  7. Simple, crossbows are legal this year and next during any season in which you can use a gun on deer. They are only legal for deer, and anyone can use one. In 2012 they will be making a decision on where they are placed permanently. The DEC has already said it wants them legal in all seasons, but whatever they decide, wont take effect until the 2013 season.
  8. Hear about them locally. I have a bunch of friends that ride and others in the fire dept that respond to the calls. I meant you just dont see them on the news unless someone gets killed.
  9. Sad. Deer bike accidents happen all the time, you just dont usually hear about it unless someone is killed.
  10. I have a shooting stick that I use for my handgun, works great from the ground or in a stand. Its not a bipod or tripod, just the single stick.
  11. Ive told this story before, and Ill give a quick rundown again. Years ago I was hunting on a piece of state land, sitting at the bottom of a tree watching a hill side. I had a blaze hat and vest on. A small deer came running up the hill when all of a sudden shots rang out and bark rained down on me. Some idiot took a few shots at that deer as it ran between us, and hit the tree I was leaning against, just a couple of feet above my head. Blaze orange is something that I do wear, but I have no illusions that it will assure that I never get shot while out hunting. The only thing that will assure that is if people properly identify their target and background. Wouldnt matter what color you are wearing, there is no similarity, whatsoever between a person and a deer, period. That is a lame, overused excuse for irresponsibility. IMO anyone that shoots another hunter thinking that they are a deer or other animal, should get a life sentence.
  12. They arent going to be legal for bow season next year.
  13. 7 1/4 lbs for the Mossy 12 Ga wood stocks with 24 inch barrel with iron sights - from Mossberg site 8 lbs for the 870 12 Ga synthetic with 23 inch barrel and iron sights - from Remington site
  14. Mine had notches in its ears, lined right up with its main beams. I am assuming from sparring or fighting.
  15. Yep. Plus, my Mossy has wood stocks and the 870 is synthetic. That could be why they are close. An 870 with wood stocks would probably be heavier.
  16. I just looked at the specs of my 500 20 ga with the deer barrel, it weighs 7 lbs. The specs for my 870 12 ga Sureshot Cantilever show 7 3/4 lbs. Not much difference between them.
