  1. we got a serious black bear issue in CT (no hunting). I kept only a matter of time before a politician's kid gets mauled and they change the law. some 10 year old got attacked a few days ago about 30min from me. We got 21 kids under the age of 18 in our cul de sac and the street never goes more than a few days without someone seeing a bear. These kids walk to and from the end of the road (several hundred yards) to catch bus at sunrise. I had a cub 10 yards from me in my drievway a few weeks ago while I paid an electrician.

    Definitely no joke!
Seen only 2 does this season but 2 bear!
Had a 300 plus lb bear 25 yards from my stand with 357 in my hand!
Ridiculous there’s no Bear season in NW CT.
If communist NY can have a bear season, so should CT!
The day he 10 year old kid was mauled, I had a mother & 2 cubs at my front door @ 1:30am. Glad my dog wasn’t taking a leak.

  2. Fairfield County. Wooster Mountain in Ridgefield/Danbury, Bennett's Pond in Ridgefield/Danbury, and then I got into the Aquarion Water hunting program. It's like 7,000 acres throughout the state but I will likely only go to the closeby ones in Newtown, Redding, etc.

    I’m by Torrington.
    Seen 2 bears only.
    No deer.
    Cams picking up does.
    Gonna change soon.
    Cheers

  3. I have an idea of 2 spots on where I’ll hunt in NY. But not sure if it will be 10/1, 10/2, or early next week. Depends on weather and other variables. I’ll be hunting CT Friday 9/30 first.

    You in Litchfield County?

  4. Yup. I am learning quickly how many we have here. I almost petted a cub the other day. It ran by me at 10ft in my driveway. I got trail cam pics of bigger ones. They rip apart my next door neigbors wooden garbage holder a few times already this year. Did you see the Ridgefield cop shot one in newtown to protect his grandkid? He got off all charges but people still going after him because the bear had a facebook page!

NW CT is filled with them. Heard something about the cop & good for him. So far this year - 3 sitings of bear on my land (2 in the field last Saturday & 1 was 15 yards from my house a few weeks back). Saw 3 more in town. My concern is not only safety for me & others but it’s impact on deer population. Getting deer on cams but nothing seen in the fields but that should change. Still way early.
DEEC called me bc I report all sitings & they were like - yup it’s a problem. Also spoke w legislator who supports bear season. Bottom line - there might be a bear season on my land if necessary.

  5. I've walked my new piece of CT woods a few times per month since February. Got a ton of oak trees (i believe red) on the top two ridges. Hopefully a good year of acorns. Haven't nailed down any specific spots to sit yet, but I will need to choose in august sometime for the 9/15 opener.

Now on my 3rd season in Winsted, CT.
Insane amount of acorns. Congrats on new piece. Lots of deer & bear (no bear season tho).

  6. Northwest CT is overrun with bears. My NextDoor app is filled with bears in neighborhoods everyday. Sooner or later someone get bit or killed and then the liberals will want a controlled hunt

Agreed! Got a place in Northwest CT and saw 2 bears in 3 days. They have zero fear and ridiculous there’s no bear season.
    Someone’s gonna get hurt soon.

  7. Hunt alone on my own 52 acres.
I did meet a good guy to help track deer. Wouldn’t mind having others hunting on my property, just don’t have many hunting buddies.

Anyway, solo hunting - Opportunity to reflect and be grateful for owning my own land.

My favorite hunt this year was the one time my son was back from college & we hunted together like when he was a kid.

  8. Haha extrem sucks. I did love the service I got at FA either. I purchased a bow from them, after having it for a few months it was having tuning issues. I brought it in, they charged me for a tune

Yeah, the owner is an Extreme a%% hole. They should change the name.
Anyway, felt bad for guys who worked there.
I can only speak as to how FA treated me as a customer, which was positive.
Too many businesses fail to realize the importance of customer relations. Extreme A## is dumb. I’m loyal & I got cash too. Their loss.

  9. What do you work at FA? But yes extreme sucks

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Nope.
FA has good people working there. They’ve helped me over the years with my bow & getting tree stands. I’m pretty loyal to people/places who treat me right and value my business.
Extreme didn’t, so they can kiss me arse.

  10. Nick helped me this time around, not sure who setup the bow originally.

The string stop and string guard are both on from factory I believe, logic would say things were lose straight from the factory right?

Nick is the best & knows his Sh^t!
I hope everything works out. Extreme Archery extremely sucks.

  11. Today my bow basically fell apart on me :/
Shot about 100 or so arrows when they started to fly to the right. Adjusted my sight, didn't help. When I went to nock an arrow I noticed the fletching touching the bow strings. The string guard and whisker biscuit were basically about to fall off the bow.....
Shop guy told me I'm either the luckiest guy in the world or the unluckiest, lol.
Question for ya'll, after this I don't feel confident in this bow at all. Could there be something wrong with it or do you think once its put back together its good to use?

How did you adjust your site? You’re a newbie - Maybe that’s where the problem began.
FA is on point and highly & doubt they would allow you to leave the shop with bow about to fall apart. They have a 20 & 30 yd range downstairs. You had no issues there? Something doesn’t sound right.

  12. Best season ever.
Killed so far only 2 does - archery she ran 10 yards & gun - dropped her.
    Passed on a forkhorn.
Doesn’t sound like much to all you trophy studs - but it was the first kills on my OWN damn land & it felt real real good.

Best venison I will ever eat.

  13. I SUCK at waiting even though I know it’s the right thing to do..let me just find one more speck of blood, just over that knoll, maybe down that gulley…I’d be so much better off if I just make it a rule to walk my climber back to the car (away from last sight) and return with an clear head.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agree. It’s difficult but there is no Damn alternative. Unless you drop them, I wait. Lost the biggest buck of my life In Illinois bc I pushed him & it’s never gonna happen again.

  14. As previously stated, always bring tracking tape especially if you’re searching next morning.
Also, I’ve learned the hard way - unless you see him drop - WAIT! Don’t rush. Amazing how far they can go when pushed! Just harvested one on property - heart shot & saw blood, mule kick, etc… didn’t go down for nearly an hour and 1/2. She went 25-30 yards if that.
