We had gusts( according to the local weather) that topped 60mph, and I believe them. Lots of areas out of power. Tons of large tree down all over the area.

Those old timers are few and far between. IMO, the stories these guys have, are far more valuable than the "stuff" they have held onto.
There's a 94 yr old around the corner from me. He has his dad's all original 1908 Indian motorcycle in incredible condition. Good friend of mine has been trying to purchase it for 15 years, but the owner will not part with it.

We weigh every deer we get. A very nice example in our area is 150-160lbs, and not very common.
Average doe is 105.
My heaviest buck was 168, and doe was 146.

But none of us know the actual reason for his absence. As for myself, I am not in a hurry to judge without any facts. I can only say thanks for the 13 years that we have had the site. It was a good thing that he picked up the ball when no other New York State hunter was willing to do so.
Now let's see if the current members are adult enough to keep things going along smoothly without so much of the petty and small-minded bickering that makes the atmosphere here so strained and unfriendly at times. We don't really need all the static.

No one is asking anyone to jump ship. I've said multiple times I enjoy both sites, as do others. Not quite understanding this " only one site" BS. Join, interact just as you do here or don't. Others might want the option.
Why don't you post up the other sites name and web address as the one to avoid seeing you hate it so much.

Not to be disparaging to this site. But there is another NY site. And ALL are welcome should you choose to check it out.
Whatever the reason is, there's other options if one desires. I bounce back and forth between sites. Lots of great people in both.

I save two tags just for the holiday season. It's a different type of hunt. No pressure at all, just a group of guys having a good time. Weather during the holiday hunt these past 3 seasons has been helpful. Not bitter cold, sometimes a little too warm.

I have fooled around eating some, what I have found most annoying is that the fillets are full of small bones. Brining them and putting them in a smoker yielded the best results, they were actually good.
Most of what I caught went to a buddy of mine and he would put them in his garden soil, the biggest Pumpkin I ever saw was one he grew on the carcass of a big Carp.
Youtube has many videos on how to prepare Carp for eating

My dad would bury them in the garden also.
One day he asked me to rototill a area of the garden. He claims he "forgot" he buried a couple carp a few days beforehand. I wasn't amused.

I haven't seen, or heard a turkey in my area yet. I don't know what happened. 3 yrs ago we had tons all over, now nothing.
