I don't get to hunt here much. It's a bow only and afternoon place only. The biggest drawback is that the land is leased out to a farmer and they put a temp fence out there often in the fall for the cows. And it's 35-40 minutes away. But you nailed it. The first afternoon I hunted it in 2017 I shot a nice big doe there and they walked right along that treeline.

I used to do the same. And then did what your doing and noticed zero difference. I of course still trim out the worst but chunks like that made no difference at least to me.

I have one stand in 7J so went out and made sure it was good to go. Trimmed a couple of branches and it's set for season. Last stand prep for the year. Saw a small fawn on the wood edge walking in.

I had done them for years. Annoyed that you can't put two locations in a day and always wondered how they calculated deer sightings. If you hunt the same area and put down you saw the same 4 deer everyday is it an accurate count?

Went out to lease and cleared some high grass for shooting. Last time there til season. Cleared out high grass where deer come out of the trail. Have a stand 32 yards from this scrape branch.

I blame Taco for another great breakfast post that I had to make. Breakfast bake with sweet potatoes, smoked sausage, spinach, cheese and eggs. Yum.

Gonna be keeping an eye on this. Sounds like you've done some good scouting and would love to hear you got a crack at that bear. This morning feels like hunting. That clear-cut might actually help out with some browse growth.

Man this morn feels like season. Cool crisp let's go! Headed to the lease to cut a small section of high grass. Then outta there til season. Usually it's done by now but it is what it is. Been on the DL for a couple of weeks and need to be right by the time season in swing.

I stopped watching most team sports. Used to be a big Yankee, celtics and Steeler fan. Got so I couldn't root for a guy thats involved in beating his wife because he can run across a white line faster than another guy and because he wears a team jersey. It just didn't sit well with me anymore. Then I started to try to root for individual people but lost interest because they are team based sports. It all became so money centric and then to root for a guy that is an obvious POS just because he's on the team , I just can't do it. Then I realized I really didn't miss it at all. And the way things are now I don't ever see me being drawn back into it. It's less and less appealing.

That's what I said on first page. The break of 4 days doesn't make sense to me. Season ends on the 22nd this year. Why close it for 4 days.

Right but how many of those are there compared to outdoor stores and outdoor sections in box stores. If it made more money than hunting and fishing Walmart and others would be all over it

walk into any outdoors store and compare the amount of hunting and fishing equipment to snowmobile. I dont think snowmobile riding is all that big these days. Its Bass Pro - not Snow pro lol , and add in outdoor sections at walmart etc.

I do the same lol and wear myself out, tough year last season. But never want to restrict freedoms or oppurtunities. I shouldnt drink the big gulp yes but I also dont want Bloomberg telling me i cant have it. Same theory applies. I also remember coming home from college to the season being closed and years i worked multiple jobs and was lucky to get out twice a year. More available days as long as the biology can support it is a win.

providing there is actual snow. Seems most winters having a sled anymore isnt even worth it. I have a buddy that drags snowmobiles and I think they had 2 races all of last season.

A couple of images have always stuck in my mind from that day (other than the obvious terrible horrific ones). At work the first time i was able to get to a TV and there was a portly old guy covered in dust and basically panting saying "70 years old, I guess i can still run, what the hell is happening?" and that night had to take a break from watching it and couldnt sleep, so went out on the deck at about 11 with a beer, and it was so clear and could see every star it seemed, but it struck me that you didnt see a single plane. Terrible day for sure.

then i would have to take my scope off my muzzleloader. And you know what that means....i would have a scope and no gun for it, which isnt right and would have to buy one....ugh. lol

i emailed them too and asked them not to listen to you! lol just kidding - just different opinions. Glad we all get to put in feedback to them and i hope they listen. But i disagree with this entire idea. Never understood why people would ask for more restrictions and shorter seasons on something they love to do. Makes no sense to me. If you want to shorten season then just stop hunting, many people do not get the same oppurtunities as others to hunt multiple days and take time off and have private land. Although i can do that myself i was at one point not able to, and for me to want to restrict others oppurtunities with further laws and shorten the season i dont think is right . I for one love the sat opener cause i have it off as many do on the weekends. Moving it to sunday is just one more less day off to hunt. Just my opinion but i dont like restrictions put in place when they arent needed.
