I've never seen a bobcat in NY. My point was that you should know what species exist in NY and know how to identify them. Maybe you live in an area where your allowed to shoot a bobcat, maybe you don't, etc. 50-60lbs? maybe 30-40lbs.

I'm going dark - dark saturday and sunday. Weather is looking better for saturday than sunday. Saturday = 23/42 Partly Cloudy wind at 9mph Sunday = 17/29 Partly Cloudy wind at 23mph!

While I was at work today, my Dad hunted dark - dark. Super windy, he saw 1 big deer at 1030am, couldn't tell buck or doe. Only a matter of time before the bucks start moving. Hopefully Saturday when I'm out there. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2

FACT = You have 0% chance of seeing a mature buck at 12 noon from your couch and watching TV. FACT = You have greater than 0% chance of seeing a mature buck at 12 noon from the woods. My Dad and I saw 6 does on Sunday (60+ degrees) walking around between 11am - 2pm. All it would have taken is for 1 buck to be chasing and we could have had a nice buck in the middle of the day while the weak were at McDonald's eating lunch.

Malverne Firefighter killed in Hunting Accident

and I forgot to note that I am hunting private property. Only 8 acres, but still private. But I still would rather been seen by somebody than shot at for being mistaken as a deer. My Dad has probably killed 20+ bucks in a bright red (now pinkish) jacket. Anytime we are scheduled to meet in the woods, I see him coming from very far away. The bright red/pink really stands out. There's no mistaking him for a deer.
