Yes I can see still developing Peterman.. perhaps Bradford will be a stopgap if bills can't get Peterman or new drafted qb ready in time
-
Who knows a trade for Foles is still possible...
-
Historically rookies stepping in and playing great is a rare occurance.. Brady, Montana, Bledsoe are all great but were mediocre as rookies or sat the bench.. luck was up and down..as was Geoff. I'd feel better with a signed vet( even a back up) I'd love them to get Rosen but I'm still a fan of developing Peterman..
-
I still think they sign a veteran qb.. perhaps a prove it contract with Bridgewater or a short trem.deal with Bradford. They can not expect to start a rookie and expect the playoffs which is expected of them...

I have seen antlers on bucks up to April 14th.. and found them fresh on the 16th( I know they were fresh as they were on the lawn and weren't there the day before)

Years ago when I was doing construction . We were remodeling a mansion on lake erie..it was a big job and took several months..in that time the lake went from a fun time seeing boats go by and attractive crews. To a soul sucking grey relentless barren landscape filled with waves that were ugly as they filled with slush and the unrelenting direct frigid breeze coming on shore. it was so bad the entire crew would stop working to watch a seagull fly by. That experience completely changed my view of living on the water. Nice place to visit will never live there. That being said a wooded lot perhaps overlooking a nice pond is ideal and what I ended up with.. even if I had to make the pond

That is fine . I have similar scenario. Bucks move in and off neighbors fields and head for cover Sept Oct Nov dec.. it's to the point I don't bother with a camera in July or August and early.sept.. no point.. the bucks will show up..

Found this excerpt from an article on judging a buck and shooting it. There are typically 10 seconds or less to judge an animal, grab your bow and then execute the shot. The majority of my oldest buck harvests have taken place within a very brief moment of time. Several times I have shot the actual target buck we were after, and really didn't know it was that buck until I stood over it's expired body. Why? Because when mature buck hunting I have found a decision based on maturity needs to take place in 2 seconds or less if he is within bow range. I have also found that rarely did I have time to actually count the number of points! This means there is absolutely zero time for judging the size of the front shoulders vs the hindquarters, the sag in the back or belly, or the line of the neck to the brisket. The process is confusing enough without adding a checklist of 8 must-see physical features to be able to judge an animal, so I am looking forward to sharing an efficient process with you that has worked well for me. so I would say you have 10 sec from time you see deer target to pick up draw aim and release..if you keep hunting scenarios in mind while shooting 3d

Picture the target walking behind a tree. 2 steps and it's clear..that's how long you need to hold.. some times is quick sometimes it stops and you may have to let down.. and re draw later.. the letting down slow is what is really.needed to be practiced.!!! Heavy poindage is what ruins alot of hunts.. holding at max let off is easy. Heavy poundage again is the hardest same as drawing slow with push pull method holding it on target to best of your ability..
-
Pull.aim release.. about 1.5.sec max.. I do the same hunting.. I see no reason to aim forever at a target. Plan your draw .. aim and squeeze or if your old school fingers release.. I have a friend who can hold a bow for a long time. He doesn't get to many deer. Robin hood arrows all day. the longer you hold the worse your shot it seems.. knowing when to draw so you don't have to hold is much more important imo.

.223 for deer how far would you shoot a deer with one ?
G-Man replied to Hunter007's topic in Deer Hunting
Idk if I have to.worry about twist, bullet.type and.weight , terminal velocities, cross wind, temperatures. Snow or no snow.. id rather just use a bigger caliber and eliminate some of the specfics.. -

Though this was appropriate here . What is thought to be the minimum foot-pounds of energy required to dispatch anything from whitetail deer to moose humanely and ethically?" The most common figure thrown around when hunters discuss the energy required to ethically kill a whitetail is 1,000 ft.-lb. By this logic, at 1,000 ft.-lb. and above, you're being ethical; your shot becomes questionable when the energy drops below this level. The problem here is that energy isn't what kills an animal, making this line of reasoning nearly irrelevant. What kills animals is the terminal ballistics of a projectile. This is the tissue disruption and damage to the vital circulatory, neurological, or respiratory system of the animal. As an example, it is more ethical to hit a whitetail with a 225-grain Barnes Expander bullet, which has a mere 600 ft.-lb. of energy at 75 yards, than with a 500-grain solid from a .470 Nitro Express, which has 4,000 ft.-lb. of energy at that range. The superior terminal ballistics of the Barnes bullet will dispatch the whitetail more swiftly than the solid bullet will. So don't get caught up with trying to achieve a particular level of impact energy with your hunting rounds. Instead, do some research into the terminal ballistics of the round you want to shoot and see whether the impact velocity at the ranges you plan to shoot at will give you the bullet performance you need. -
If you did wood stove you limit shot opportunity as I wouldn't want to be the one to lean over it to get the angle.. plus your construction would need to be different .. distance from walls and non cumbustable materials not to mention stack and black pipe.. hauling fuel up.. ..

If you have a vent for air to move in and out.. with a damper co will not be an issue at all.. a simple slide vent would take care of it

Buddy heater with the 20lb tank hose.. I have elevated box blind and I can leave tank on ground and the hose attached in blind. It's only 5 ft off ground you could make taller by making shelf for tank on a leg of stand. I also use long wooden matched to light it vs the push and click and hold to get pilot to light and warm the thermocouple so it stays lit.. don't like the click game maybe close. The little green tanks just don't last long enough.

Never cared for use of decoys .. why invite trouble...like not wearing orange hunting deer ..not required or illegal but not smart...

If only 100% Accuracy and perfect shots were all that were taken there would be very few deer taken. I have and I will admit to shooting deer in the liver intentionally knowing it would kill it and then wait on the recovery. But some guns are just not recommended for medium size game.. I remember a fad of killing turkeys with smaller.and smaller gauge shotguns.. ending up with 28ga .. was pushed by the nwtf..even made the gun of the year in smaller ga every year.. glad that fad has passed.... Some.recommended calibers for deer http://www.chuckhawks.com/gun_game.htm -

But was the poorly hit 30.06 track able and recovered? How about a poor .223 shot.. larger hole = more blood.. that is the margine of error -

You have to have penetration into the heart and lungs.. I saw a .223 hit a bear when we skun it the bullet made it to the ribs.never penetrated the chest cavity..and.that was at about 5 yards.. .45 and 12 ga and 7mm all had pass throughs. Though the aim point of the .223 was correct.. a margin for error is always better when unexpected game or shot arises -
If you have a sanctuary the deer will find it and stay on your property.. that in my opinion is the most important thing to have on a deer hunting property.

I have over 270. But it's about having the right piece more than the size.. my neighbor has 640 but 600 of it is field.. the remaining woods are scattered . It doenst hold.many deer. In nys I would want 50 just to secure a land owner tag. .

The thing I hate about a .223 and writers/testers.. as soon as with the right bullet and within it's limitations are mentioned it's not for the average hunter.. it's undergunned for the task at hand for most hunters.. I have a friend that dropped bucks ever year with a .243. One day a nice mature buck pops out at about 100 yards he shoots buck drops..he gets out of stand buck gets up and runs off..minimal blood trail.. he never had to even track one before..bang and flop on at least 15 deer I recall. We looks door hours and never found that buck.. he was on cover of national shooting sports several times..he gave up the. 243 and went to a .308. Lost his biggest buck to a marginal gun that 90% of all hunters would use without hesitation.. he now has a margin of error worked in to his gun.. -
Experiences grafting fruit trees?
G-Man replied to stubborn1VT's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Diagonal cut . And grafting wax..( a good nursery should be able to get it for you) just clean slice match up diameters. Work up grafting wax and squeeze around joint so no air pocket remains(about an 1/8 inch thick seems to Work well but can be thicker if using larger diameter stock . If using larger stock you may need to add a support stick and splint the joint.. any suckering below graft should be removed. . Can use the wax for bud method as well but I've had best results from a branch with 3 buds on it about 1/4 to 3/8 In diameter. And cap cut end with grafting wax as well.. -
