Prolly not so much what you did but what happens in surrounding area, I get a big influx of deer right before season,as the property is nice and quiet, I do not go in the woods after sept 1st, thise deer learn the safety they have find the food and then stay... next year I have deer all over again , the camps around me go crazy hanging stands, riding atv's ,scouting, the complain the deer just come for my food plots ..they plant their own now but still have low sucess, fact is they come from the pressure and stay for the food,. Soon they set up shop and stick around as part of their home range.

My guys will bring down a case at beginning of bow and we still have a 6 pack at end of gun, one or two with or after dinner, is all that is drunk if at all, my guys come to hunt not drink, in bed by 9 or 10 and up at 5... If they wanted to party they wouldn't be welcome..

Not to be off topic, your shed hunting and come across stands with beer cans under them, stands left up o n state.land is illegal, so assume private property, now having to assume you have permission to be there, if you do why would you not confront the hunters responsible? I can't see being around any person that drinks while hunting, don't mind back at camp.end of the day...

Pierce milling in delevan is good source for seed. You can put pumpkins and squash in corn with good results! added bonus some for you and the deer will eat the rest!

It's done to keep trees alive and growing ,providing cover for several years by keeping the understood from growing, deer will bed under them using them like roofs. Extra benifit is browse and eventual firewood in a few years.

Too many doe will only be handled if it's open for early muzzleloader, a crossbow doe only, or earn a buck. Any other attempt will fail, it's hot 1st 2 weeks of October and doe only then will just push back op e ing of bow for many till either sex starts. (Just follow comments here on site if you don't believe it.)

The dec changed to purchasefor doe tags as the thought was if they have to buy them they will fill them.... it doesn't work that way ,it's the same with turkey tags, everyone buys one for 5.00 and they may not fall hunt turkeys at all. But get it incase they see one.
-
Well if bowhunters in general would take doe instead of waiting for a buck, ( I admit indo it as well) they wouldn't need to do anything since does are so much easier to kill..so dec responds : enter the crossbow let's get those brown and down gu n hunters involved in archery. They'll shoot anything! We have done this to ourselves as antlers have invaded the minds and hearts of traditional meat hunters. Yearlings can breed and trophy bucks cannot be stockpiled. But still we push for one buck rule antler restrictions, while we should be pushing for earn a buck rule, preference to hunters that fill antlerless tags, and general habitat improvements.

Shoot 2 doe to get buck take in areas, or open it for crossbow doe only as well..one way to get full inclusion.. and In my opinion the whole reason x bow was allowed, they want/need higher deer take..

I have a roosting area that has been quiet all year, but bird have been quite so in decided to go sit and see what I could, the last 2 mornings, but have been greeted with no turkey sightings,or soundings, I have seen a bird both mornings, a bald eagle sitting in the same tree both mornings. Do you think the bald eagless has caused the birds to leave this area? It has bee n used non stop for 23 years, and has always been a productive area. it's not like I can get the bald eagle to vacate the area.....

Depends, if Peta or spa lines their pockets... -
D, cant.move up.the season as thats prime breeding.which is the reason it.starts in may. I could see shorting the season, or allowing all day for last week or two

Keds, deer louse yes but no ticks... I have seen them at my uncles taxidermy shop from other areas but never here. Had a guy show med Keds on his deer saying they were ticks till I showed him the difference. Said he been calling them ticks for years...lol

Yeah south and east is loaded according to friends that hunt there ,but in 30 years plus hunting here and butchering our own deer ,I have yet to see a deer with a tick or.picked one up while hunting or any recreational activity,.. wonder if it is warmer by the river, it's cold on top of my hill. Every year some minus 15 plus for a few days

Boy I'm glad I live where I do. I have never seen a tick on a deer or on any dog or cat or person here. Can't imagine what you people have to deal with, I flipped out on a trip cause I found a bed bug... left that hotel fast. I'd prolly give up hunting if I had to deal with ticks.. .
