Quick easy way to see if someone bought a licence is all esp.from a distance, problem is not enough economy to do much of anything about it. -
I was watching a beautiful buck, not kidding 160 in plus in a field when a neighbor started up his atv the buck looked in that direction and jumped into the woods.. learned responce? You bet! My area is completly quiet till two weekends before season. Ever camp up the road is flying around the woods with atv hanging stands, scouting, ect.. they all.ask why I have so many deer on my place.. they sca re them all into my quiet sanctuary. Young bucks does maybe let you drive up on th if you have driven around enough to let them get familiar and comfortable with the sound but in my experiance most do not. I stay out of my woods for a month before season and deer seem to love the peace and quiet..

My nephews want tractor rides all the time, I have several tractors as i plant larger fields as well 80 hp down to 12.5, the 12.5 is a deer retriever, put pallet jack on rear with 4 ft x4ft platform, roll bar has gun rack fixed on it, 4 wheel drive 50 in wide, I've had it places an atv won't go, if it can push the tree over it goes ... 4 ft hog on rear cuts about anything. Pulls wood wagon (2 cord of wood) and pto runs sprayer, as well as spreader. Most atvs I've seen are.pushed to the max to do what this little tractor does, I even used it to pull down an old farm.house. no belts to slip squeel, break. My one friend used his atvs like you do , finally got a tractor (used) and atvs sit except.holiday weekend when grandkids use them, big toys trying to do jobs they wernt designed for. So they keep.making them bigger, wider and more hp and price is 10000 or more , if you want a toy fine ,that's really what they are.

An old Kubota 4 wheel dr. 12.5 horse, and I can get a half dozen 8n for 500.00 or less. Big auction in Angelica every spring. And lots of old international cubs around as well. Lot more useful.than an atv although they don't run 40mph I don't do that in woods anyway.

Never minded snowmobiles as they dot tear up trails, fields, ect and really help pass time in winter....
-
yep I have logging roads and 50 ft is far drag to any of them my little tractor can pull 5 deer and hunters all out at same time at end of a drive, and is 1/10 the cost of an atv
-
They are pretty useless for the price, just toys really, and it seems alot of people own them and have no place to ride, I see them.getting bigger and bigger and now have become side by sides, really its cheaper to buy an old jeep cj and do more or a used tractor and do every thing you want.. to light for most work that needs to be done on a property...

Sounds fun , has 4 different birds gobbling, moved I n and set up on closest, had Jake fly down and come in at 12 yards, couldn't see beard let it go, kept gobbling below.me, got up.and moved 100 yards closer to where I heard another gobble, had big gobbler.come running in ...and right by me headed for jake that was still gobbling, had a small opening and it drops and flops around. Rolling down the hill crashing the whe way , I get up and go over and no gobbler! Feathers and leaves scattered in a trail down the hill and 20 yards onto the flat and no bird, going back out with some friends to look after lunch, ..never saw it get up or fly it's a steep hill and after I heard last crash all was quiet, bird has to be half.plucked rolling down that hill by the feathers everywhere, 20 years ago I could of got up fast and ran to that bird, legs and knees no longer respond like they use too...

My First Turkey. Hello! My name is Nathan Brand and during the youth turkey hunt last weekend I got my first turkey. I have been hunting since I was thirteen (now fifteen) and had never seen any wildlife while hunting other than the occasional fat red squirrel until this trip. Encouraged by my cousin’s successful hunt last year I decided to go out with my uncle and get a turkey myself. It started with waking up sometime around 5:00 am at my uncle’s cabin down in Cuba, NY and to my surprise, no breakfast. My excitement overcame my hunger and I dressed in camo quickly. Before heading my uncle handed me his favorite turkey gun (Mossberg 835 and some Winchester XR 3½ in 6 shot turkey load) upon taking it he said, “Now, that is the hardest kicking shotgun out there, and yes harder than Ron’s 10ga. It’s a bit lighter so it’ll kick a bit more.” Running this through my head a wave of doubt quickly came and went thanks to the excitement. We began our walk before the sun came up occasionally using various calls. Within a mile or so we sit up against some trees calling just as the sun begins to light up the sky. We sit for about an hour calling and wait and at one point I think I hear my uncle say “I see a head” so I instantly strained my eyes at what appeared to be a thin white ‘head’ moving around at 60 yards. Unfortunately it wasn’t a head. I still have no idea what he said but after an hour we got up and as I look to my dismay it was a bit of snow. My eyes had been playing tricks on me. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and kept moving. Some 100 yards later we sit down at a crossroad of paths and begin calling again. On the first call we actually hear something and this was our exchange, “Did you hear that?”…”No.”…”Okay I’ll call it again”…”Did you hear it that time?”...”Nope.”…”*sigh* You gotta stop using your earbuds you’re killing your hearing! Okay let’s try again”…”YUP Heard it that time!”…”Okay the first reply was about 400 yards that way, lets go.” This being the first time ever getting close to an actual animal during a hunt and my heart starts pounding as we race down a path and to turkeys. We end up on a side of a ravine with a small stream in the middle and the other side at approximately 60 yards. As we sit down my uncle begins calling again and lets me know the turkeys are coming. Again I strain my eyes as my uncle tries to tell me where they are but I just don’t see them anywhere. Out of the corner of my eye I see a movement by a brush pile near the top of the other side and instantly know it’s a turkey. As I watch a Jake and Tom come strutting into sight, the Tom doesn’t even stop and quickly leaves noticing the lack of a hen where we were. As the Jake gets closer and closer I realize my safety is on, my red dot sight is off and I’ve yet to raise the gun. Not good. Quickly making the adjustments I raise my gun a little too quickly and I am instantly spotted. The Jake begins to turn towards a small creek running down the side of the ravine just as I get the little red dot on the turkey’s neck my uncle says, “Shoot now!” which is quickly followed by a loud BANG. I see the turkey flop over into the creek and don’t believe my eyes for a second. I had actually hit it. As I slowly get up I notice my knees are shaking and I’m standing there grinning like an idiot looking to my uncle and then the spot where I last saw the turkey, and back to my uncle, and to the turkey, and my uncle until he finally tells me to go get it. I quickly pump out the empty shell and run down the hill with my uncle until we get to the creek. Slowly I walk up it trying not to slip and while grabbing it by its legs. Looking at it I could tell it was a runt and pretty ugly (I later learned other turkeys had picked on it and ripped out some of its feathers) but I didn’t care as I came back with the grin still on my face. All in all the beard length was 5 ¼ inches, shot was made at 50 yards, it was a year old, and around 15 pounds or so. Walking back I carried my bird and gun laughing at funny stories of my cousin my uncle had from his hunt last year. At the end I’m proud to say I added to that Gun's count for turkeys, which is now in the mid fifties! Can't wait for next time! !

Are deer spooked by Trail Cams ?
G-Man replied to fasteddie's topic in Trail Camera Reviews and Info
I think cams are great to see what's in the area, but should.be places.in an open feeding area and then moved to trails to and from bedding when you see where they enter and leave areas, I do not put on a stand location 99% of the time unless I'm looking for a trespasser using it.you can good information from time stamps on a trail.and if your getting night pics you know you need your stand further back in the trail to intercept during daylight, I love people showing me.pic at night in the food plot and their stand right in the pic, you would probably get the deer if you moved back up the trail 100 yards. If I spook a mature buck with a cam in a food plot chances are he's still.going to use the trails in the woods by it to scent check for doe and to enter in a different location. -
Are deer spooked by Trail Cams ?
G-Man replied to fasteddie's topic in Trail Camera Reviews and Info
I always put cams very low or much higher than most people, a flash up high seems like lightning to them and low maybe looks like an exploding lighting bug or something.. either way they don't seem to mind them unless flashes are In their face -
As much as is needed to get the bird.....

Sheds are worth quite a bit on money. For Chinese cures ground up and for lamps and decorations... it's a growing problem
-
I've had salt blocks put on my property by trespassers and called the dec, the placed cameras and sat and watched and got the guy... dec need tips and help, baiting is illegal and I would.of reported it, a few ticketed and word travels and it stops, I've seen many more people trespassing looking for sheds and I report them as well, my road hunting and trespassing in odd season has dropped way off

You can get 100% reporting,Wisconsin does it with almost the same m numbers of hunters 625,000 there vs 640000 here.we just need a legitimate game comission in place not am agency that covers all pollution and enviromemtal.and.money problems.

1st question is if you were on public or.private land, 2nd is what gave you the right to take it down? It may of been a research project... 3rd why would you not report it instead of taking matters in your own hands? Antlers are all off by now so perhaps you messed up a poaching sting operation.

I like Wisconsin's method every deer is checked...
