went to the farm today and to say we need rain is an understatement. The ground is crusty and cracked. Weeds have taken over my soybeans and corn. I sprayed the fields with gly and top dressed the corn with some urea. Weather called for showers today.....I HOPE SO!

ps. Also, I have no apples this year :angry:

I second that Split, Had vaca. planned for this week and earlier forcasts called for rain most of the week, so i decided Sunday would be the perfect day to impliment the second phase of that clients plot that i put clover in earlier. That was Tall Tine Tubers(turnips). I knew that i was a couple weeks ahead of the planting date recomendations but the forcast looked so good i figured i'd take this chance. Everything went great and i got everything in and the clouds rolled in and then it sprinkled for about 2.5 minutes... Like someone spitting on you from on top of the silo.. What the heck. Woke this morning and nothing. Checked the weather and nothing in sight and a new forcast for very small chances of rain. Son of a gun. We fortunately got a pretty good rain about a week ago and the sub-soil here is still moist where i planted in 8H but other parts of the state haven't got much. Start Dancin' dude..

Well I has already cost me a clover planting...yep that area looks like a jigsaw puzzle...the big plot is growing well but those are drought tolerant plants that need well drained soils...The clovers I planted along with HSG in more shade are doing great...Rained last night but today the ground doesn't look like we got any rain...then again it actually may not have...more that once rain has blown in to drop on top of the hill leaving lower area dry...here's my dance...

We got 1/2" of rain last night... The lawn is still growing like gangbusters...

I think we have been lucky in my area ..Not a lot of rain but enough to keep things going..

Looking at the bright side, the turkey hatch this year should be excellent..

I understand, I just set up my sprinklers on friday and it poored out, murphy's law... The last few days we had rain here on the Island which my lawn loves!!! Yet I am sure if I had crops planted upstate they would be in trouble. I will perform my rain dance for you!

The Hemp that is suppose to grow 6ft in 60days is still only 5in tall and the climbing soybeans are a whopping 4inches....not even the weeds are growing well....we had a 2 min. shower the other morning....did nothing..afraid to take any motorized equipment into the woods...it's so dry a person could fart and start a fire... :fie:

I had total fruit drop on the persimmon and pears....now some apples are the size of ping pong balls and starting to fall as well as bean seed sized acorns....little worried now...I may end up with a total fall planting save 3 new clover plots that were planted in partial shade and clay based soils...Oh well playing chess with mother nature ...some times you lose...we'll see...just keeps the ole noggin working up new strategies...lol

Every year, something wrecks our garden. I was wondering what it was going to be this year since we got off to such a great start. I think I know now .... lol.

Have you all seen the extended forcast. Yeah they show a bit of rain here and there but when those days actually get here, they have had a record so far this year of being just piddly little isolated showers that always seem to miss us. My pond is drying up (not unusual) and it is the only source of garden watering. I'm not going to stress my well just to grow a garden. So, unless something changes shortly, the garden this year will most likely be a voictim to drought.

I feel for you people that have put a lot of effort and money into your plots. I suppose there's not a whole lot you can do about it. Let's just hope the weather turns around a bit before it's too late.

Doc..... I'm pretty sure your not far from us...and yes don't you just love watching those rain clouds on the radar turn just North of us every time....I have a bath tub water hole that is basically now a frog rearing tub....the lack of rain is lowering the water level in it so I made a small net and took some water from the new camo watering tub and caught about a 100 tadpoles/frogs( many had 2 legs and some with almost four legs and lots of frogs with tails)...Then transferred them to the new tub to finish growing....this will give the remaining tads a better chance of surviving...besides the new tub was getting skeeter larvae growing in #'s....the tads/frogs will have plenty of food and they cleaned all the algae of the sides in less then 8 hrs...win win...but I will still have to replenish all the watering holes soon

even with lack of rain lately I still raised ...as it were.... hundreds of frogs...makes me feel good...lol

Just checked the 10 day forcast. 0% chance of rain 9 of the next 10 days. Maybe something next Wed but even that said chance of showers. Unbelievable...Has not rained a drip since i put the tubers in Six days ago..

These turnips have a recomended plant date of july20-aug1 so i knew i was a bit ahead of schedule but when i put my plan in motion around june 22, it was raining. The extended forast called for dry weather through the 24th then rain was expected that evening and for 4 straight days following. I'm not kidding, that's what they said... So i figured i would take this great looking forcast and put them in the ground on the 24th. If the forcast was correct i'd be looking like a genious. As for Brassicas, no i don't put them in this early but i did a 1/2 acre plot about 7 years ago in June and it rocked. Best Winter Green planting i've ever done. Just never had the guts to do one early again to see if it was a fluke.

I mean no offense to the pritty girl but how much you figgure that full tank weighs? ;)

Dang now that's I mean she is sweet.The tank weighs about 7lbs per gallon when full.Now back to that pritty girl that's my kind of lady. :nyam:
