westchester is awful since only a few public spots & lots of traffic. i go just to be out and its close but keep expectations LOW.. they seem to stay mostly nocturnal there or get pushed so deep you have to walk thru few hundred yards of 20ft pricker bushes towards the southern ends..yes, frustrating

After sweating about 10lbs off carrying my stand and setting it up 200yds from the truck lol i sweat easy, i get my climber up the tree im in and realize i forgot the tie down straps to secure it firmly to the tree.... not too worried about. But im curious as whether or not some of you guys strap your climbers once youve gotten to where you want to be in a tree?

I always strap it down once I get it into position but read my thread about my stand breaking earlier today.

I just joined. Actually just now because it is very dull up in my tree stand. Ive seen nothing but squirrels and have been in the stand since 12 and have about an hr of shooting light left in the day. I am debating shooting these squirrels around me if it continues to be this way.

Got down from my climber early due to the rain didnt want to take any chances sliding down. Went to the edge of the field i was hunting and the field had 8 deer and 1 spike. Every single one walked past me 15yds away wind was perfect field edge ran north south couldnt ask for a better hunt besides taggin a monster lol. It was so cool to be that close on the ground just standing outside the hedge and have them that close

last night in 8F i climbed down about an hour before dark ( i have no idea why?) as i got to the base of the tree, i unhooked my bow form the pull rope, looked up and three little yearlings were staring at me 10 yards away. They had no idea what i was and i watched them as they watched me for a good 5 minutes. i even had time to knock an arrow, draw back and set my pin on one ( just for practice). silly young deer.
